Nioh Last Chance Trial Thread: It's your last chance, seriously.

Every time I join someone online to fight the Ogress there's a brief moment of desync at the very beginning of the boss fight. It's not that bad, but it has gotten me killed once.

Thanks!

Oh no. I was getting wrecked at lvl 13. There was no way I was beating him at lvl 10 haha.

It was tough, gotta be damn near perfect on your dodging. I had help from constant healing steel for defense and lightning def talismans. It let me take an extra hit when I missed a dodge. Without that I would of had no shot or else been there til demo ended trying to do it. I should of did Twilight 1st but that mission said lvl25 and the fight was like lvl13 so figured that's where I should go next. I thought twilight Ogress was much easier than he was.Once I started I wasn't gonna stop til I beat him though, he was pissing me off so bad at 1st til I learned his moves and spacing lol.

I've been trying to take down Mitsuhide in the past couple hours. The best that I can do is to bring his HP down to 10%. I always get excited/nervous when I'm so close to victory. I lack of composure.

Downloaded this on a whim earlier. I'm fucking addicted. Absolutely fantastic; I can't believe this game is so good and yet I hardly knew anything about it.

I'll still probably wait for reviews, just because the mission-based structure makes me fear that the end product could lack content or something. But seriously, I'm stunned at how much fun I'm having.

It probably won't beat the Souls games in lore / atmosphere / world design, but god damn that fucking masterpiece combat. I hate to say it, but THIS is the combat that Bloodborne should have had. And I loved Booodborne combat, but this is just better, harder, deeper, and more satisfying while still maintaining meaningful RPG aspects.

Amazing.

The lack of iframes in this game is really a problem.

Double dashing gets you a full roll that's a bit better. There's plenty of iframes, just nothing completely free like BB.

This is a really bad impression of the game for people who haven't dipped in yet, imo. The beta was much better. This level and boss were real weak.

Now what's the next step in your master plan?

They say 70 hours but knowing developer times its probably closer to 25 to 30 but that's pretty good for me or even a little shorter. I don't need a gigantic game from this sort of set up.

I'll say this.

Movie Mode (Pro) on NiOh does not look very nice. Can't understand why anyone would pick it.

~~

The 60fps Mode (Pro again) has MASSIVE Aliasing however. I'm not too sure why they didn't just FXAA/SMAA this baby up.

Yeah I just tested it myself, the frame pacing is plain terrible.

Guess they couldn't fix it even moving from regular to pro.

There are only a few frames at the beginning of a roll, but I found that this game relies more on speed and positioning to avoid attacks compared to Souls games. You can chain dashes together and cancel your attacks into a roll faster than those games, and one important thing is that you can run while locked on, which was really useful against bosses like Hino-Enma, who was much harder to dodge roll her attacks than run from them.

Okay, so I made it up to a certain point, got killed by a cyclops on top of a house and that's it for me. Don't really wanna play too much as after playing this beta and the last, wanna just leave it for the final game. Game is freaking great

Just beat the demo in one session. I think the Tachibana fight got a bit harder. Other than that, can't wait for the final game come out!

A quick question tho: how do I get the Ogress Headress? I did the Twight mission too. The only prompt at title screen was the one for the previous two demos'.

It's really easy to bait the crow tengu into using the easily dodgeable and punishable spin attack by just sticking to their side/back. Which is a shame because they have a pretty big move pool with great animations and are a lot of fun to fight when they use all their attacks.

Edit: I guess it's the same for a lot of the enemies, but these guys stood out to me especially.

You get a message saying it will be available in full game at the shrine in bounties section. The message is easy to miss no need to dl anything.

Has anyone had issues redeeming The Mask of the Conqueror? I've been having issues saying that I can't redeem it.

Just get the mark of the strong and keep your save, its a know issue.

You'll be able to get it later from the store (no idea when but before or at release hopefully).

I beat the first boss with the flail/sickle weapon. I love that weapon. Had a bit of trouble getting the hang of Nioh again, despite playing the Alpha. But once I leveled up a bit, that extra damage gave me a bit of extra confidence and that got me a long way. This game is legit. Ki-Pulsing is the key. Fights can become so much more intense when you not only have to ki-pulse but switch stances during the perfect ki-pulse for extra ki-pulse power :)

I suppose the missions make it less magical than an entire world like the souls series, which were an important reason for the brilliance of the souls games. But the challenge, the difficulties to overcome, and hard as nails fights, they're here, and they're awesome.

Did they not adjust Tachibana? Reading through the last few pages seems like the guy can still feel cheap?

I mean I never had much of a problem with the guy cause of the stone abuse + spear abuse(no honor :p).

I was criticial in the beginning towards the game, but after some hours with it last night and learned the basic stuff it finally clicked with me. Gameplay mechanics feels deep and rewarding, and the learning curve feels just about right. Tried out several weapons, dual mini katanas and spear was fun. Killed birdboss and got to the ogress, but then the network connection died.
My biggest problem was balancing dodging and KI management.

Level design is good and combatsystem really great, the rest doesnt live up to expectations for now (critisicing a demo). I'm a sucker for atmosphere in a game and the game's really lacking it. Graphics overall is fine imo. Does seems like it really shapes up to be a really fun game, will buy this!

Yeah but you run out of stamina and you die that's stupid

When I get winded in a fight in real life I can still run around just fine. Game is dumb

OMG you're absolutely right! Boxing matches last for much longer before they start hugging each other because they're tired. Weird that they went for a gameplay mechanic instead of a real life, slowly draining stamina bar, where fights between two humanoids can last up to half an hour, where the last fifteen minutes are more of an endurance game than a real fight anyway.

Pre-order cancelled.

Ah, I have to wait for that yeah?

Between this and Nier it's a beautiful year for ARPGs

MS can shove their lack of Scalebound

You can do both of those as soon as you beat the first level

See this guy gets it. And why do I die in 2 hits? I can take hits from giant axes swung with the force of 1000 lbs just fine 6 times is normal for anyone

Level 26 and I still can't get Tachibana past 50%..... God I hope the full game doesn't have alot of this. The main mission was fine but this is some cheap garbage

I'll give Team ninja credit, they have definitely captured the souls feeling and made it better, harder, and 60fps.

Praise the sun? Lol

I agree. This game has given me higher expectations of the Soul series for the future. On this last demo (played all of them) I didnt die as much or overlevel as I have started to understand the games mechanics a lot better. This doesnt happen as much with me with Souls as the game is very clunky in movement which results in harder to "escape" difficult situations.

The battle mechanic is insanely good and allows you to use a lot of tools. I tried a magic, ninja build this time and I gotta say nothing felt useless or overpowered. The only thing I am a bit worried about is that the replay value wont be like souls game with new game plus.

However I gotta give it to team Ninja for actually changing all the enemies and layouts on the harder modes. Which is like relearning every level which is definitely a lot of effort than just giving enemies a small boost every time you clear a game.

For folks having trouble with Taichi there's a rock you can hide behind so that if you angle it right his attacks wont go through, it's a good place to buy a couple of seconds to heal up/get him to waste some stamina.

Played through the level, mostly fun!
Played through the Twilight level, also mostly fun sans the freaking wheel enemies.
PLAYED THE FREAKING DUEL THAT SAYS IT IS LEVELS LOWER THAN THE TWILIGHT LEVEL AND NEARLY THREW MY CONTROLLER WHILE TRYING NOT TO SHOUT

What in heaven's name was I doing wrong?!? It took me over forty attempts!

Kill combos
Instant casted arrows
Kept attacking when his Ki was at bright red
Broke through my block with one attack/chain

I mean goodness sake, I was going to go out with some fun before shutting it off, now I'm just angry at a game... And that makes me a bit sad, as well.

Guess it's a good thing I can't afford this when it comes out. I'll need a few weeks before wanting to play again. :(

Edit: oh... I played for six hours straight... Maybe I was playing like garbage out of burnout or being tired or something.. I'll latch onto that reasoning, rather than me just sucking entirely. Still done with this title for a long while.

So I picked up that one skill in the Sword tree that lets you "Activate Ki Burst while dodging." The description didn't make it sound too useful, but it seems like it actually makes your dodge activate a perfect Ki Burst regardless of timing? So, if you're dodging after an attack, you don't even need to worry about timing the Ki Burst.

Am I understanding that right?
