PS4 finally has the library strength I always hoped for it

Yes, I'm playing more games than ever. DLC makes it even worse since UC4 (ok standalone), Gravity Rush 2 and FFXV are getting substantial additions soon.

The list of good titles I have to pass on for lack of time is long:

Nioh
RE7
Tales of Beseria
Horizon Zero Dawn
Mass Effect Andromeda

I'm keeping track of them to buy later, but there's not much of a window before more releases flood in. Just finished Yakuza Zero, abandoned KH2.8 (DDD is not fun), and savoring GR2. Then comes:

NieR Automata (March 7)
Kingdom Hearts 1.5+2.5 Remix (March 28)
Persona 5 (April 4)
Birthdays the Beginning (May 9)
Tekken 7 (June 2)

Preordered and unlikely to shift dates. And then there's Fall 2017. It's a good problem to have.

Pretty much what everyone else is saying. Japanese games are pretty much what's taking the catalog over the top. Microsoft can't really compete give how the Xbox One doesn't sell in Japan. Also the majority of gamers grew up on Japanese games and you would be hard pressed to find any gamer that doesn't have atleast a few Japanese games on their all time games list.

Also Sony has better and more diverse first parties compared to Microsoft.

Sell it and buy a PS4?

I'm kinda torn on doing that though. All of my friends play on Xbox One and the games we play most are Halo 5 and MCC. Selling it and buying a PS4 would mean more games to play, but I couldn't play Halo with friends. I play most of my multiplats on PC anyway so I will just save for a PS4 Pro and keep the Xbox.

Anyone else feel the same?

Absolutely! I'm in the midst of Yakuza 0, still have RE7 in shrink wrap, and have Horizon Zero Dawn, Nier Automata & Persona 5 preordered. I went ahead and canceled my Switch preorder this week simply because there's so much great PS4 software to play now and in the coming months. The Pro and 4K tv I bought last fall were well worth it.

Yakuza 0 is a shocking GOTY contender. Can't believe how good it is

Problem in having is how many friends are stuck in the Xbox ecosystem for no reason. They don't play any exclusives......they have all moved on from the halo, gears and forza train. None of them have interest in the current future lineup. Scalebound which is what they were looking forward to is cancelled.

Would love to be able to not buy an Xbox to just play with them for rocket league lol. Although I have probably 500+ hours invested in the Xbox version of rocket league.

My friends do have one advantage

Saving money hahahaha

Yeah, the flood of upcoming games ain't gonna help the Switch.

What's laughable about their opinion that the controller isn't that comfortable? I think it's a decent pad but dislike the stick placement. Needs to be staggered if you ask me.

As for OP, yes, PS4 is an amazing console with great exclusives. There's almost TOO much for me to play these days but that's always a good thing.

People act like you need 3 hands to use it and they won;t play PS4 because of it, that's indssane, it is a good controller, I switch from Xbox to PS4 controller all the time and have no issue, I simply cannot understand whats so bad about DS4 to some? If fits perfect into the hand, is ergonomic, it's among the best controllers around. Only way I can see it ruining a console for you if you have deformed hands or muscle issues.

Even non gamers when they play using my controller don;t have any issues. If a gamer finds it that bad I am not sure how they even get through most games anyway.

Both are good controllers.

I'm a pc gamer mainly.

Intel hasn't given me any reason to upgrade. Nvidia seems to think I can afford a thousand dollar video card to maybe run a game at 1440p with high-ish settings.

Meanwhile I boot up my ps4 and play Uncharted 4 again, while I'm waiting for Horizon, taking a break from Yakuza 0 and RE7. Or maybe BF1, which seems ridiculous to play with a joypad, until you play a match where you aren't instantly head-shot with a pistol across the entire map by some hacker, and find you're actually really having fun.

If you enjoy Sony's exclusive titles and anime styled titles, then yeah, the PS4's library is exemplary.

Personally, I don't really enjoy any of Sony's exclusives anymore. While they we are all certainly experiences, I play games to have fun. I don't have fun playing Sony's exclusives anymore. There's no enjoyment for me there. As of such, I traded in my PS4 when I preordered my Switch; and I don't think I'll be rejoining Sony's ecosystem again in the future. I think I can be perfectly happy being a Nintendo and Microsoft gamer from now on.

So then, what do you like? Because if there's one thing a Sony library has...it's diversity.

I bought it strictly for Bloodborne at the time, the otherwise weak library didn't phase me, because I knew it would grow stronger eventually. Odin Sphere and Nioh are my other favourite exclusives right now (for non-exclusives I adore Dark Souls 2 and 3), and I'm hoping Horizon joins this list.

Seeing how fast PS4 passed Super Nintendo in just 3 years really put things in perspective for the people who was kids at the time SNES was out because it seemed like everyone had one if they was into playing games. even Gamecube & N64 seemed a lot bigger back then now the numbers seem small because of how much the PS4 has sold in so little time.

I think 3rd parties are going to enjoy the success of the PS4 & try to push out as many games as they can before the well run dry.

It took longer than I would have expected, but yes, PS4's exclusive library surpassed Nintendo WiiU's overall exclusives. Hopefully, they can keep up the releases.

Aye, I knew it was inevitable with how the system was selling, but congrats on the PS4 for finally catching up with Nintendo's efforts.

Hype sells systems.

Really loving the quality Japanese support for the system. Always knew 2016/7 would be the years where PS4 really sets itself apart from other systems.

It's been good for a long while. I've so far played about 35 games on it. There hasn't been a shortage of games to play since autumn 2014.

Agreed. I haven't had so much fun gaming since the mid-gen 360. With Horizon coming out in just over a week, I won't have time to play Nier until later, and I haven't even picked up Gravity Rush 2 yet!

Feels like every week or every other week from now till the summer there's a PS4 exclusive title coming out + all the multiplatform stuff as well. Jampacked really.

I've have always been a PS fan, and while I do agree that this year is shaping up to be a good one, what are we using as a guide for this years releases? US release date?

Persona 5 released last year in Asia, while Yakuza 0 released back in early 2015.

Inuhanyou

Believes Dragon Quest is a franchise managed by Sony
I agree OP, its a good time. Hopefully they can keep this momentum going.

My only frustration is that there are too many games to play, so its hard to keep track of what's coming out when

?

The Wii U's library was stronger than the PS4's for quite some time, and many consoles have sold more on hype than the strength of their library.

Please, elaborate on what part of my statement you have an issue with.

Only if you can't play anything other then exclusives, and PS4 never sold just because of "Hype", Sony you know deserves credit for building a strong brand. Most people don't care if a game is exclusive or not, and Wii-u was out longer, of course it was going to have a head start on games..

What consoles sold on HYPE and didn't have a strong library?

Was it? If we ignore the exclusives on either side, the fact that the Wii U didn't recieve even any third party support should show you that the PS4 blows it out of the water.

Yup.

The 2 best games of the generation (imo) are PS4 exclusives.

Bloodborne and The Last Guardian

And there is still so much in the horizon. Good times!

Can't play anything other than exclusives? I have a PC for that good friend, I'd prefer to play that for the multiplatform games. That's why I never really enter the discussion on where is the best place to play multiplats, it seems irrelevant to discuss with PC in the arena. Sure, PS4 was the best place to play WWE2k16 and Madden, but I really never cared about those.

As far as Wii U obviously having a head start on better games... well yeah. That's why I congratulated it on catching up with it's library. I must ask again, why you would wtf that comment?

When it comes to never selling on hype, if you think no PS4s sold because of hype, I respectfully disagree, and am happy to leave it at that. :)

Woah you deleted your original post and put a new one in it's place.

I've got a PC, so I really only care about console exclusives when considering a system to buy.

I have a WiiU and it's just sitting there. Which exclusives would you recommend? Paper Mario is definitely on my list.

Been replaying both UC4 and TLG,and having a blast. After i get my new tv and the pro, I am giving Bloodborne another go. So much to play.....

Cool, not every has or wants to play on PC, has zero to do with my point. PS4 sold only because of hype? Not because people trust the brand, sony did a lot right, and built trust with consumers? Please, the PS4 only sold on hype is a sad argument that is just downplaying anything Sony has done.

Yes, that would be a sad argument, I'm glad I didn't make it. That said, hype is a major system seller for pretty much every console ever, some more than others.

Oh, you may not have been around here for the leadup to any consoles being launched. That may explain our difference in opinion.

When it's all said and done, I believe PS4 will be my favorite PlayStation, which is saying something considering I wasn't feeling it at all for the first two years or so.
