The Vision of Escalfowne - 15

Merl sure is lucky that the enemies were fellow catgirls this time around, otherwise she'd have been dead on the spot.

The things she does for her LORD VAN.

Also LOL at Hitomi coming out and saying she likes Alan like she's gonna hook up with him. Alan's going to end up diving heroically in the heart of battle to save her and tell Van to take care of her before his mecha explodes.
I hope that last part doesn't happen. Alan's too good.

That series Eto Ranger was very good, unique and funny. From the creators of Samurai Pizza Cats, but even better. Some character archetypes of Pizza Cats appear on Eto Ranger too.

Yet that series has also lots of dramatic moments and much better character interactions. Also liked the modern and twisted take on classic fairy tales where the heroes travel to save each world.

One of the best series with anthropomorphic animals, ranging from funny and cool to fluffy and menacing.
Cats are the enemies this time, due to the Zodiac circle.

Heartcatch and Yes 5 are the best Precure. I'm not super fond of Go Princess, but it's definitely one of the better ones. I'm not impressed by KiraKira yet, but I'll withhold judgement until the full team is assembled.

Gabriel Dropout 7

Vigne episode. She is a terrible demon. Which we already knew. And she can get sick with human diseases. Which makes her a terrible demon. Back to Satania please. Cute ed though.

Also, more people need to watch Anohana. I'very had that sing stuck in my mind all day and that final scene replaying over and over.

The last scene in AnoHana is a perfect example of something trying to be touching and beautiful going horribly wrong and ending up becoming annoying and cringe-worthy.

I don't even remember that last scene. Was it Menma's writing on the hideout or something?

As for touching endings that ended up shooting themselves in the foot, I'd probably give that award to Tasogare Otome Amnesia.
The farewell between the MC and the ghost girl was touching and all, but having her return to the world of the living just because completely undermined the whole thing about the MC having fallen in love with her throughout the series and deciding that he had come up with the resolve to go on with his life after the girl had finally passed on.

Edit @Corn: If it's
the letters and Menma finally disappearing
, then I'd say it was indeed overly melodramatic, but I still liked it enough to forgive the show for it.

Not at all, IMO. It was the culmination of all the emotional angst up to that point. He finally said it, finally admitted it and everyone was on the same page finally as a group of friends. The
letters she wrote to each of them was perfect closure

NANA is better than your favorite anime!

that makes more sense :p

though it seems that the japanese voice actress was haruka in pokemon :p

I remember when the show started airing I was like "wait, Haurka!?" as soon as she spoke for the first time.

They also happen to be two of my all time favorite characters, although the voice acting is probably a big contributor to that.

The Dragon Dentist 1

Ok, this was very surprising. Like, damn, I thought I was ready and then I was just left wondering what the hell happened.

Anyway, it was pretty good. I don't know if it's me, but there were really strong similarities to the recent Gravity Rush OVAs. The abstract design of the enemies, the female protagonist's love for food, the relationship with the male protagonist, the whole city on the sky aspect... It's pretty interesting, though I'm probably reaching.

I'm talking about the overall execution of that scene, not the content itself.

Yes, him finally admitting it was good and all but the whole scene of them calling them together was incredibly poorly done.

It'd be fine if they were all in tears and quietly saying their goodbyes with them finally letting it all out at the end. Instead we get them screaming bloody murder that makes the whole thing incredibly uncomfortable to watch.

It was a callback to their childhood games man; that was the whole point right there. I get what you mean about the screaming being awkward, but there was a reason for it.

No Kyoko, NO NO NO NO! This is not a good development.

All I'm saying is: That entire could have been handled a LOT better. The way they did it made the whole thing come off as incredibly forced. It didn't feel like the characters were saying goodbye even though that's exactly what the scene was.

I get WHAT it is and WHY it was there, but HOW they went about directing and writing that scene wasn't good at all.

Nana ep.2
So weird seeing a mature show have sex in it twice in the first two episodes. Much more mature than Scum's, lol. Nana though, this chick has sone issues when it comes to men, that's for sure, damn..

Oh, the 08th MS Team is up on hulu?

Is that the good one or the one with the shitty lovebirds?

...

Nope, it's the one with the fuckers.

Apparently Hulu cut a deal with Sunrise, because they are now streaming Gundam 08th Team, Wing, Seed, 00, and Origin.

The way I see the OVAs is: War in the Pocket > 08th Team > 083.

08th Team was like a summer blockbuster with a cheesy romance but it was pretty enjoyable. Bonus points for having the most "tolerable" lead pilot from the UC lol.

So I went ahead and cancelled my Funimation membership. I felt like the only Simuldub I was really looking forward to was Mob Psycho 100, and the last episode will be airing next week.

I still have it for a month so enough time to check out some of the backlog I've been putting off like Stein's Gate and Psycho Pass.

May have to eventually check out that VRV service once they finally get around to supporting more platforms.

Princess Nine ep.6
Why they gotta make the fat girl the catcher? If they made this show these days, there would be hell to pay for those stereotypes, lol. Well, at least they got two more girls with only a couple more needed.

I might be partial to the second OP because I love the animation of Hachi dropping into the water so much. I agree though, all of them are great and so damn fitting for the show.

it's great that a show with a focus on a band has such great music.

at least all the openings are solid.

despite my dislike of k-on I will admit the first opening is pretty fun.
the second season though sounds like damn chipmonks being murdered over pop music @_@
