Yep. Anyone that did not see this coming honestly has not been paying attention. I am curious to see how long it takes for political fallout from this.

Any news on cost? It feels more expensive, so I'm curious about the budget impact.

If you make $200k+ you're going to save quite a bit in annual taxes. Even better if you make over $1 million. So exciting!

If you don't make that much you can eff off.

How do these people take away healthcare for 24 million people and won't get lynched for it.

Even suggesting this would kill your career from where i'm from

Despite what you hear in the press, healthcare is coming along great. We are talking to many groups and it will end in a beautiful picture!

i'm waiting for his reply now.

Gee, who would have thought that shitting out a health care plan in a week wouldn't work???
Seems like they need to go back to the drawing board in another mysterious room in the Capitol and have the Democrats go on another scavenger hunt to track it down. That was a fun time had by all, was it not?

Yeah, this shit's not passing.

It's a reaaaalll hard sell.

But never underestimate the Repubs ability to band together to pass even the shittiest legislation.

We'll see. I think the moderate Republicans of the Senate, where they have a 2 seat buffer, is where this plan will be hung up. I'm sure the Freedom Caucus loves this plan, since it makes poor people suffer and offers minimal savings.

They're not taking away health care, they're giving people the freedom to not waste their hard-earned money on health insurance.

It's also important to note that there is going to be a huge premium increase for people that decide to keep their insurance. So basically everyone will be pissed

They are going to tout the line after that which claims after 2019 Premiums would then go down lower than ACA premiums. They will argue temporary pain for long term gain. Though I do not see how CBO can actually suggest premiums will decline

They may go slightly down, but only because all of the really sick people would be kicked to the curb, or only put into under funded "high-risk pools".

Should probably not trust the 7-11 security cameras quite so much
That's a great amount of people who will now be free to die in the gutter. Tremendous improvement on (bad or sick) Obamacare!

That everyone (R) will fall in line, and they can continue to blame Obama well into 2020 regardless of how this pans out.

I get that we're all doom and gloom, but Ryan would have to twist a *lot* of arms in the house to push it through, and it's very likely this would die in the senate.

Keep in mind that's basically from gutting Medicaid pretty hard after 2020 to pay for tax cuts for the rich.
Actually they are getting the tax credits savings also. If 14 million people drop out of the individual health market that is basically a shit ton of people that won't use tax credits. The replacement credits are not near as generous especially for the poor.

No longer boycotting the Wolfenstein franchise
So... the desired increase in Pentagon spending is nearly twice the projected annual savings with this, at the cost of driving millions of people away from health insurance.

They are not. A significant number of healthy people do not want to pay for healthcare. Yes it is stupid but they feel like they are paying to carry the sick. Now they don't have to worry about paying a penalty. Unfortunately for insurance to work you need healthy or low risk individuals to join and pay. Also, as they age and have families they will need insurance and coverage but their shortsightedness will cost millions their coverage now.

It saves 300 billion over 10 years. Which lets be real. Isn't shit. Especially with so many people losing coverage.

You just wait. Here come the R commentators "It will save on the massive debt the OBAMA administration has created. An estimated 300 billion in savings!" *never mentions any other number from the report*

$35B per year savings? That's enough to boost the defense spending budget by something like 6 or even 7 percent! We can't turn down a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to shore up our poor, crumbling military!

CBO and JCT estimate that enacting the legislation would reduce federal deficits by $337 billion over the 2017-2026 period. That total consists of $323 billion in on-budget savings and $13 billion in off-budget savings. Outlays would be reduced by $1.2 trillion over the period, and revenues would be reduced by $0.9 trillion.

-So, this 'savings' will go to support SS and Medicare long-term, right?

-Right?

-Right?

The GOP will spin this as 14 million people getting their freedom! I mean there is no other way to excuse this. Millions will die because of the lack of coverage. In fact, I think that with this plan the average American will have less access to health care than some developing countries.

The Freedom Caucus is on record as hating it because, I shit you not, it's too good of a plan for poor people.

You know, I did hear that last week.

That's hard to believe... I wonder if their opinion has changed because it does offer some financial relief. Even though it's incredibly minor.
