Capcom announces The Disney Afternoon Collection for PS, XB1 and PC [Port beg = ban]

No Donald in Cold Shadow? What a shame, that game is great (although extremely difficult for my taste). Though it wasn't developed by Capcom, so it makes sense not to include it.

I haven't played any of these games, so I don't have any nostalgia for them. Still, if they are good I'll consider getting the collection someday.

Disney Afternoon, not Disney movies.

I just got what the title was supposed to mean. Thanks!

I can guess this is in that fancy eclipse engine they made for the Mega Man Legacy Collection? It's got a lot of the same features from that, too.

Is it confirmed just digital? Disney has a habit of pulling games off download services once the license expires, so a physical version would be nice. I don't think MM legacy collection launced with one either though, so that might come later.

Either way, im excited. I was just looking into buying an NES copy of darkwing duck, so this is great news.

Not a port beg but this would make a lot of sense on the Switch, I may wait and see if there is any chance. If not I'll bite. Completed duck tails and tailspin as a child and have fond memories

Saw this and assumed we'd be getting Lion King and Aladdin, but this is good as well.

Does Capcom actually make Aladdin on the Genesis or did they just do it on the SNES?

That makes the "port beg = banned" thing shitty. Showing demand for a platform matters. And not just in reaching out to publishers on their own forums and social media pages. If they have any idea what they're doing, they're also going to have community people seeing what fans are saying on places like GAF and Reddit.

It's gonna be weird having two different go-to remasters of Duck Tales. Kinda like how Sonic 1 has the M2 3D version and the Christian Whitehead mobile version.

I guess weird isnt the word I want since its not a bad thing, they'll both offer their own unique take on being a remaster.

It's not shitty at all - threads just end up clogged with people all saying the same thing "would buy on the switch". What is that contributing to the discussion exactly?

If they release it physical I don't care what platform it's on, I will double or even triple dip. This is something I'm gonna want to have forever, especially since my NES carts for DT and RR are nothing more than paperweights right now ):

Gonna get it on PS4, but if it comes to Switch eventually or they do a physical release down the line I will rebuy it so hard. I never ever thought something like this would happen. I was thinking about DuckTales remastered a few days ago and wishing they'd do something similar to Rescue Rangers but doubting we'd ever see any of the other Disney Afternoon NES games again.

Is asking for games like Aladdin and Lion King considered port begging? Because the title of the collection states "Disney Afternoon" which clearly means the TV shows from the late 80's to mid 90's. As someone who grew up on those cartoons... Disney Afternoon meant something.

So unless you are begging for the Gummi Bears game or Goof Troop... Games like Aladdin, Lion King and Jungle Book have nothing to do with this collection.

lol at people missing the point and asking for aladdin

I ask myself that same question when pc port begging goes into full throttle untouched after every e3 conference.

Are we even allowed to openly complain about NeoGAF rules we may not agree with?

Any chance these'll have an option for improved framerate?
If it's Digital Eclipse at the helm & they have the same philosophy for accuracy as with MMLC, then probably not.

I'd appreciate the option, though. Or at least fix the overscan(?) garbage when the screen scrolls. Don't remember that effect on my old NES.

Interesting pack, shame about no Play Anywhere support, since that would have easily pushed me over the edge. Looking forward to some footage.

Wait so they are all remasters?!

Dude this is great!

I played duck tales not so long ago on steam and enjoyed it!

Wonder if they will do more in the future like with the snes games.

Interesting they went with Disney afternoon title - thought it was some generic Disney games like the ones Disney released few years ago on steam at first until I saw the title list 😂

Anyways excited for this announcement - was ironically thinking about ducktales just an hour ago lol

Day 1 for sure!

Day 0 if physical definitely

EDIT - wait, no switch? Because of virtual console?

This is clearly not the case because:

1.) There is no Virtual Console on Switch yet.
2.) Mega Man Legacy Collection on 3DS exists, even though you can buy all of those titles individually on the 3DS eShop.

Damn that's nice, not too big on the games as I never played them much but this certainly puts them on my radar. Good on Disney and Capcom for doing this.

Is this happening because Disney isn't developing games in-house anymore?

Edit: Will Ducktales be something separate from Wayforward's game? Or is the megaton here that they're doing Ducktales 2 while other studios work on the other titles?

NeoGAF doesn't exist to help do market research for publishers.

I'm curious as to why they even need to be told. They're NES games, the N in NES stands for Nintendo. It's not like Capcom didn't know they were making a new system.

MODS: Since port begging is not allowed in this thread, but someone from Capcom is specifically saying that fans should let them know if we want a Switch version, should a new thread be made about these tweets for people to show their support/desire for a Switch version? To get the word out that we should all "take to the streets" so to speak to let them know? I understand not wanting to shit up a thread with people begging for a port but this seems like it could be a worthwhile endeavor to get the word out that Capcom "wants to know" if we want a Switch version.

Gentlemen, we can rebuild it. We have the capability to make the world's first enhanced store. Steam will be that store. Better than it was before.

Sure, but do so publicly at your own peril.

Any of the moderators can be reached by PM if there is something like this you would like to discuss

These ought to be in as an option. Looking at Sonic Mania, smooth framerate makes these classic games look so fluid.

That's an interesting proposition to be sure. Such threads could potentially be beneficial as a whole given that they would contain the port begging to one thread. Say these threads were given the OK and port begging in other threads was dealt with more harshly?

Wonder who at Capcom hammered the switch to bring this collection to PS4 and Xbox One as well as PC. This is the collection Digital Eclipse was talking about, so it's them porting the games.

Just to throw it out there, there was an Aladdin cartoon at one point on the Disney Afternoon (not that it's really relevant here as the game was based on the movie and the Capcom one was on the SNES)

These are all NES games ala the recent Mega Man Collection, nothing to do with Wayforwards full blown DT remaster.

Why don't you communicate directly with the people asking for feedback? What does making a thread and asking on GAF solve? There's no guarantee that anybody is watching here.

Yeah, clearly someone at Capcom loves the old Disney Afternoon NES games and bless their hearts!

DuckTales Remastered was digital only first, right? Then they did the physical copy but it was just a box with a code and a pin in it for collectors? Or did they launch at the same time?

I meant a thread to let Gaffers know that Capcom wants their [well, anyone's not just Gaf's] feedback about it. I absolutely do not want to step on any toes or break any rules if making a "Hey GAF, Capcom wants to know if you want a Switch port of the Disney Afternoon Collection" thread is a bad idea, as currently it's confined to this thread on the 10th page where talking about ports will result in a ban so who knows who'd see it. So I was just wondering if it'd be ok to make that kind of thread or not, don't know if it breaks guidelines or would count as like advertising or if having a literal port begging thread specifically to let people know they should go beg Capcom for a port would be allowed. I feel like even asking about it is towing a line I don't really want to cross though so I absolutely understand if it's not a good idea.

Not begging, but I wouldn't be surprised if the Switch gets some version of this later down the line. I'm guessing whoever was put on this team did not have a dev kit for it yet, or was already way into development in order release it when they plan to.

This is a neat thing to see happen; I don't have any connection to these shows or these games, so a digital only release isn't going to bring me over, but I'm happy for everyone who's always talked these games up.

Hopefully these guys continue to bring us awesome port collections, Capcom has a really killer back catalog that doesn't always get taken advantage of very well.

DuckTales was a weird one. They eventually did a physical copy that was just a code and a pin (and only for PS3 if I remember right). Then they did an actual physical copy later on that came with a disc for all platforms.
