MGS: Twin Snakes - Possible for Switch says Former Silicon Knights President

Would he even know?

Aside from the graphics, everything else involved with this remake was horrible. It doesn't even have the original OST which was amazing.

I'd buy it if it would switch to the original.

Maybe that's the secret of the Switch version.

Imagine the scene. You start the game. The Twin Snakes title screen appears. All of a sudden

A BRIGHT FLASH AND A VOICE YELLING "SWITCH!"

The Twin Snakes fades away and only the original MGS title screen remains. The original MGS is playable, interrupted every now and then with a voice apologizing for the Twin Snake's existence

I'd like to get MGSV on the Switch if it was a good port.

This is Konami we're talking about.

Seriously, the MGS setting and original gameplay mechanics are perfect the way they are on PS1. Adding the MGS2 style of gameplay mechanics adds nothing to it, in fact it down right breaks the game at some point.

I'm sure if you take out all the guards but one in the helipad area, shoot his radio out, cripple him so he can hardly walk and can't fire his weapon he will literally stagger to the corner and stand there. He can't escape the map because the doors do not open (you sneak in through an air vent) and he will stand there until you put him out of his misery.

TTS is owned by a company that's, lol, let's just leave it at that...

That partly-developed and published one of the launch titles on the Nintendo Switch? I don't think it's impossible to imagine Konami being behind this.

Unless TTS belonged to Silicon Knights, if you mean that, then yeah...

If only Dyack wasn't a total bullshit artist. He knows nothing about this - or much else for that matter.

That being said, I would love a TS port. I'm one of the few that love it.

Leave that piece of shit embarrassment of a remake in the past where it belongs.

That game was absolutely terrible on almost every level.

So glad Kojima never used that tasteless crap in any part of the franchise and left it as some standalone heap.

gave away the keys to the kingdom.
He's not wrong, but he's also playing coy with the truth. Silicon Knights has no say in the matter, which is to say that a port is possible insofar that there are no barriers that render it impossible, but Dyack's word carries as much weight as anyone else's -- none at all.

In fewer words: Move along, nothing to see here.

Someone asks dyack a direct question and he responds and people chime in stuff like "he's just trying to be relevant again."

That seems kind of a weird response. I know it's cool to hate the dude but he was literally asked a question and responded to it.

Y'all can chill the fuck out on your hate. It's kind of weirding me out. He has done some stuff that makes him unlikable but this doesn't seem like one of those things. It's toxic in here

Twin Snakes?

This is a bit like the Ultra Street Fighter II: The Final Challengers announcement. It's so close, yet so very far from. It's a shame, I'd very happily hand over money to play a the proper game .

See my post above for a good example of why it doesn't work.

That's not really something that I thought about at all when I first played it. TTS was my first MGS game and I just thought it was a really cool game with lots of VA and cutscenes at the time.

This is a Nintendo and Konami game that SK worked on. I think Silicon Knights involvement with Twin Snakes is a totally unimportant part of the equation for any kind of re-release/remaster. I think the real reason Nintendo and Konami haven't pursued this is purely due to lack of interest. This remake isn't held in high regard like the REmake. Dyack probably answered the way he did because:
A. He's tired of questions like that.
B. Legally speaking, there's no reason it couldn't be done.

Different cut-scene that changed the tone of the game quite a bit.

But also brought the tone more in line with the rest of the series

Snake jumps off a missile.

Oh the humanity!

It was at that moment MGS fans were confronted with the fact that the game was just anime all along. And instead of accepting it they rejected it. That wasn't their metal gear. "I see you like... Castlevania!"

Yeah let's act like the cheesy cutscenes are the only reason why TTS is a shitty game.

what exactly was wrong with this game? wasn't it just a remake of the first game using MGS2's engine?

Cutscenes were re-done with ridiculous choreography, bullet time, and inexplicable oddities.

Voice overs were re-recorded with same scripting but inferior delivery.

Soundtrack is different and inferior.

It's a remake but translated/interpreted by parties that arent the original creator(s) and inferior for it. This is in stark contrast to something like the Resident Evil remake produced Mikami.

Lmao youve gotta be kidding me

No thanks ill take a mgs collection remastered for ps4 and switch though!

I like Twin Snakes but it definitely has problems. Namely, the soundtrack is painfully generic (especially compared to the original game) and some of the boss fights just aren't as good and it's mostly the ones you wouldn't expect to be negatively impacted. Like, both Sniper Wolf fights just suck on anything below some of the higher difficulties. I would say most of the other fights are at least fine on any difficulty. Most would point to the Ocelot fight and say that it's worse but I would argue that fight is dumb no matter which version of the game you're playing.

Guys should stop starting baseless rumours and get back to finishing shadows of the eternal, maybe then he will be relevant again... whom am I kidding the game would probably bomb and we will be right back to where we started, a world without a eternal darkness sequel.

There's not much of anything in the way of news here.

"Is there a chance this game can get ported to this system?"

Guy that would probably sell a limb to be involved: "Yes"

Why would there be any legal issues? Unless konami just went brain dead they wouldn't have given silicon knights an iota of ownership and if Nintendo subsidized it in any way the question is in regards to another Nintendo system so no problems there either. Why would twin snakes be any different from konami deciding to bring any other game to the switch?

Maturity, bitches.
Literally the only issue is replacing the textures of Dyak's face for those portraits during the Mantis cutscne.

I really doubt Dyack knows anything about the inner workings of the Switch, GCN emulation, the VC, or the legal dealings with Konami/SK over porting the game.

I don't even think Denis Dyack believes that.

It really is. The biggest complaint (the over the top cutscenes) has been more than surpassed since, in both MGS4 and 5.

I'd love to see Twin Snakes get an HD port. Great game, and solid (pun intended) remake.

All the irrational PS fanboy hate...
