You forget that Emil was in love with Nier and that obviously didn't end well, not to mention even with ending E Kaine and Nier both died and left him alone a long fucking time ago

Emil was also "blind" (could turn anything he looked at into stone) and got turned into that creepy grinning monster (similar to his sister) that he has become so iconic for now. That, and sees his friends die and the man he loved (Nier) never returned those feelings to him. He also basically sees the end of humanity in its fullest.

Emil hits infinite suffering though. He keeps creating more clones that are all him. His suffering tends to infinity as the number of emils tends to infinity.

Welp. Let's just agree that they both win gold and silver in all of videogames

This is it. Zero has gone through a lot worse but Emil was a lot more innocent and a victim throughout with no real active malice to anyone else. Was nice to hear the voice actress and her performance but couldn't help thinking what horrible life to lose everyone and lose most of your memories. Defeating him was really the happiest solution for him.

Maybe it's because I know he's a secret boss I have to fight later, but Emil's place/the cave is the creepiest setting in the game to me lol

ironically Seere survives Drakengard canonly....i wonder what ever happens to Drakengard's universe? Was it saved due to the events of Nier?

Seere, like Emil, suffers from the most abhorrent fate possible - be a child in a Yoko Taro story forever.

I'm also very curious about post-QB Drakenworld. It's one of the biggest gaps in the series imo

i kind of want a drakengard whose soundtrack is all the pieces the first game's soundtrack sampled

maybe a post-drakengard 1 game where the world kind of "stabilizes" and we really have to stretch what that means

The long walk through those blue caverns was absolutely haunting with the music.

Instead of a friendly experience trying to buy wholesale, it felt like you were intruding and only had the potential to cause heartbreak.

I think it's masterful game design that the only thing you do is something that betrays Emil's trust in you.

So I got all the mainline endings but I still don't understand newborn Adam (or was it Eve)? They killed the aliens, so why are they being reborn? Or was only one of them alive to kill the aliens and the other was born when you see him for the first time?

Posting this here aswell.

HOLY FUCKING SHIT!!!

I DID IT! ALMOST!!!!

But I will do it later and probably upload a video of my success.

So, minor spoiler warning about the VERY END.

You can actually beat the credits offline, without help whatsoever. And it is not as hard as you might think it is. I mean, it is still fucking crazy hard but not that HOLY WHAT THE FUCK IS GOING ON CRAZY HARD as you might thought it might be.

And now I explain why that is:

So basically you take care of your deaths in the credits. Let me try to explain it.

1. If you die TOO much, the smaller words become invincible and you can only shoot the bigger words and even kill them faster but that doesn't give you anything since you can't progress any further.

2. You basically try not to die at all before you reach the first SQUARE ENIX (it's either LTD or INC), it's the first SQUARE ENIX regardless, after it comes some other big words like MARKETING & BOOK EDITING etc..

Now, here it gets interesting, because from here on out you start dying. No, seriously.

As soon SQUARE ENIX shows up you start firing it it doesn't matter if you die, because you have to die alot.

You basically get stronger everytime you die (it's either dying or shooting more enemies but I'm 99 sure it's dying. You don't get stronger everytime you die though. Only after a certain amount of deaths you become stronger. So let's say you've died enough and now SQUARE ENIX shows up, you start shooting it and it should die, just about it has shot its bullets itself.

FROM HERE ON OUT YOU STOP DYING! BECAUSE YOU WON'T GET ANY STRONGER THAN THIS!

I know... Stop dying, easier said than done...

But I'm not finished.

So, SQUARE ENIX kicks in, you shoot it fast and you focus only on the big words, only shoot them and shoot them as fast as you can, because that way you won't have to bother with the purple orbs so much.

3. After you reached the second SQUARE ENIX and even sometime before that you stay in the corner, in the bottom right corner or near the upper right corner and keep shooting to the left, because many little words appear and they come from above and you have to kill them fast because otherwise you can't shoot them because their bullets block your bullets.

4. My control layout is that you shoot with L1 (because I have evade on R1) and pod programs on L2 and R2.

5. You only focus on YOUR SHIP and the PURPLE ORBS among you. as you stay on the right border you don't have to bother with orbs behind you and you don't have to bother with the yellow orbs because you just shoot them away. Seriously. DON'T BOTHER WITH YELLOW ORBS AT ALL. Just focus on the purple bastard.

6. My english isn't perfect but I hope you get the idea.

I'm playing offline always, that's why I put myself to the challenge. This segment of this game is FUCKING HARD and I will do it alone and try to record it. So stay tuned and good luck yourself!

Beauvoir had a name change of similar fashion. NA version changes the name to Simone. Both still being a reference to the same person (Simone de Beouvoir). I kind of feel you may be on the money in assuming they wanted to be less on the nose.

I see no issue with it, but an interesting change nonetheless.
The thing that weirds me out is when 9S says the name Sartre, the game audibly bleeps it out. We know that 9S' voice actor recorded dialogue of him saying Sartre, so this decision must've been made real late into development.

Does everything stack in this game? With 9S I had to buy books for 9k, as he only has 1 weapon in each hand. With 2B I paid 6k as she has 2 in each hand.

Pretty broken but handy if you want to buy annoying trophies.

Looks like I have been spoiled Eva, old anime anyway so my fault. Just never knew when to start watching as there were few adaptions.

There's only one (unfinished) remake series unless you also wanna count the manga. And that remake is making things so different, people already start having the idea it's a sequel instead.

Just watch the orignal TV Show and then the EoE Movie

Has anyone managed to do an execution on a stunned enemy with 9S or A2? Because I don't remember doing them with any of the other characters

With A2 shitloads. Also on big guys, which I didn't manage with 2B before.

9S doesn't have it, he feels so gimped in melee combat and he's playable for most of the time.

Finished the game, absolutely loved finding out that everything was a fucking farce and totally pointless since the humans had LONNNG been extinct.

Since I'm not the type to plat games I gave up my saves so that some other poor soul can get help defeating SQUARE ENIX LTD in the credits like I needed.

I had such a strange revelation with the Emil reveal. I was playing Automata and watching a Nier 1 let's play on and off, so I'd seen human Emil's introduction in the LP, and met Emil in the supermarket, and seen his item shop bouncing around, I even noted to myself that the name was the same, but it was spelt unconventionally so I didn't connect the dots. At that point I only knew the Emil head from Yoko Taro interviews.

I only then realized who Emil was in Automata when I finally saw the cutscene of his transformation in Nier 1, it was a backwards-ass way to get there, and it wasn't until I watched one of the last Clemps videos that I worked out why the fuck he was still hanging out after all these years. I even found the heads in the desert before knowing what Emil looked like, it was quite strange.

Hey guys, I had a tattoo idea last night but forgot what the saying was -.-

So, what is your favorite line from this game? Might spark my memory.

Is there a reliable way to get Emil to go by the resistance camp? His shop weapons (and his ones from his home) are the only ones I'm missing and I've seen him by the camp once but he drove into the center ruins faster than I could shoot him.

Mang, the foreshadowing in this game.

I just redid the Red hooded murderer sidequest on PC, where you find out the girl is a Type E Model.

9S: "Type-E Model? I didn't even knew such a thing exists. DId you 2B?"
2B: "...."
2B: "Some things are better left unknown"

He runs on a wide loop in that area. You could even just wait in the pond in front if the Resistance center and watch him zip around again after a minute until ready to try the shot.
