Question on Super Sentai. Are most series self contained or do I need to start watching them from the beginning? I wanna check out Magiranger.
Except for a very small handful of series (Sun Vulcan has one returning baddie from Denziman, and Gokaiger being an anniversary series that utilizes minor elements and plotlines from all 34 before it), you can jump in basically wherever. Magiranger's a good place to start. It was my first series, too.

But Saban has the rights, no?
It's a co-production. When Bandai releases the sales figures, sales from Power Rangers are included in the Sentai category. Saban needs Toei more than Toei needs them.

Japanese Mele was better.

But Saban has the rights, no? I mean it's TOEI's property but if Saban/Disney have the rights TOEI should mind Super Sentai (unless there are special cases like Zyu 1.5) and let PR go the direction they want, in the end Sentai will keep selling toys in Japan and if PR dies because of Saban it really won't affect the toys in Japan after all it's not like they are pushing Sentai outside Japan.

It kind of hurts that PR could be good, not gritty and dark as many people think , but it's just seen as a toy comercial, when people keep buying whatever figma or Neca release. Besides many shows are funded and they sell not toys, why can't PR be like that?

Sorry, I'm not complaining just to cause drama, I seriously want to know why can't we have a PR that rolls like HBO shows, do people think of PR as kiddy like they do with Nintendo?

The reason PR isn't like that is because it's budget as all hell. That's the entire reason they're using Japanese footage in the first place. I mean, could they do a big standalone Power Rangers show? Probably. Rather, they just did, it's in the theaters. It only relies on Zyuranger imagery (and even then barely so) because of MMPR nostalgia. Their megazord has things in common with the current mecha in Sentai (the way they drive it). If anything, it's the toy company that calls the shots. Perhaps too many shots, on both sides of the pond.

The more I play this Legacy Wars game, the more I start to dislike the gameplay & wish it was more along the lines of the gameplay from Marvel's Contest of Champions. *sigh*

Perfect, thanks a bunch. :)

RPM's intro isn't that great, but the season it's attached to is very, very good.

And then the last three seasons to round out the marathon are all remixes of MMPR's theme. Because Saban because nostalgia.

oh good I thought I had missed Ghost of a Chance (the only reason I don't trash Jungle Fury more than I should).

I enjoy that meta cameo waaaay too much.

I do love that even the villain of this series explicitly has to train and get stronger. Adds to the sense of the two sides competing with each other, rather than one somehow having all the damned cards but only using them once per week.

This just makes me appreciate Lothor even more.
