I usually agree with this idealistic view and understand where you're coming from. However, being the bigger man doesn't work in the age of the internet and anonymity with racists/bigots. Raising awareness by having threads like these is much more influential and beneficial than simply being the bigger man and forgive his actions. Because as a result of this awareness, action was made. Not as a result of forgiveness. It's good and well to think idealistic, but there are times where you need to think critically and realistically.

The part you miss is that resistance to fuckery isn't hate. You'd think the civil rights movement for instance - not an equivalency - was sunshines and rainbows. To make a long story short, it wasn't.
Not trying to hammer you, but that's what people at large don't understand about left or liberal movement or whatever name they want to give it. It's not about flowers and hippie kumbaya life; it's about confronting society wrongs and making them right, regardless of the affected victim's background.
That also involves an honest depiction of who the victim is. Hint: it's not Palmer here. It's who he had targeted before and likely will again.
Doing the right thing sometimes gets ugly for those who've dug in on the wrong side of history. Take your pick of societal pushes historically.

You actually turn into them. Like, if you try to fight or argue with a racist, your soul will actually absorb their racist essence and you will become a racist. You should always have a exorcist or onmyouji on hand for that reason.

Prefacing my response with this: Don't take the amount of replies you're getting with anyone "hating" on you. People just genuinely think you're naïve, and have waaaaay too much optimism in this world.
I can't think of any instances of pure peaceful resistence that toppled systemic and overt bigotry. And don't you dare mention the Civil Rights Movement.

When hate still actively hates from a place of social influence, with no intention of reconcilliation, responding with love (in a context where that appears to mean "don't criticize it with any intensity") is totally inappropriate. We're not talking about general etiquette when we engage each other individually.
I think your observation is vapid trash. I think it's falling victim to the golden mean fallacy. The idea that by rejecting someone's assertions for changing society, we're as bad as them is insane. An intelligent person sees the stupidity of a statement like that. I think what you're saying is attempting to prevent people from being confronted by the evil of their ideas on how others should be treated. I think that, combined with the vague lamentions how people will feel about what you said "on this forum" is a very familiar script I've seen from some very insincere people.

So tell us then, what action or statement has Palmer Luckey made that proves he himself is a white supremacist, and in what way did he actively engage in ways to suppress minorities? Because as far as I'm aware, his only single action which brought this all down upon him, was to give some money once to an organization that had as its goal to take anti-Clinton memes and post them on billboards. How is that actively suppressing minorities, unless those memes they chose were anti-minority (they weren't)? OK sure, a horrible person that does fit your description happened to work at this organization, I'm not sure how that turns into "Palmer Luckey and Steve Bannon are BFF's who think and act the same way"

A) Funding white supremacism is just "goofy" and not horrible
and
B) Why hating white supremacism is "sickening" and not understandable
Like, you must have a good reason right? I want to know why I must love a man who thinks I should be dead because of my skin color.
I think the idea is that there's a huge difference between there being someone at a company that supports a Trump, and the founder of the company creating a white supremacist organization.
So you got anything of substance to say to everyone else who called you out or is vapid snark all you have?

I think the one thing that makes me slightly less inclined to toss Luckey in with literal Nazis is that Nimble America, for all the bluster around it, seemingly amounted to nothing but a single dumb billboard. That still leaves the association with major figures in the alt-right/white supremacist movement, which he can't wish away. But in terms of actual action, Nimble America seems to be a bust.
So generally my stance is "fuck that guy" and that's really kind of it. I don't give a shit about what Colin thinks (and he clearly gets off on everyone's outrage, so in this particular case I don't feel like giving it to him), and I don't particularly care if he's still rich and happy or whatever at the end of the day. All I really need is the knowledge that I didn't support that guy financially or morally, and while the latter has always remained consistent, the former is now much easier now that he's left Oculus.
