Microsoft to offer Self-Service Refunds for Xbox One & Win10

That's a great service by Microsoft, a very necessary step towards making digital purchases acceptable from a consumer rights point of view. This should be the new standard for digital purchases imo.

I don't know... I mean... being able to buy a game digitally, try it for less than 2 hours as a "Demo" and return it if I don't like it is pretty sweet.

That on it's own is HUGE!! As far as Sony this or that, it's not that they've gotten greedy now in terms of not allowing returns, they've always been like that, and their customer service sucks! This said as someone who will continue to buy Sony because I'm an unapologetic fan of MLB The Show and need to buy it annually, and I love their exclusives.

It would take some really really really solid pricing to sway me to buy this console, but dayum are they doing a lot of good things lately.

Damn you guys are wound way to tight, I figured my post was so ridiclous nobody would think I was being serious.

this is GAF though, so..

honest opinion on the subject, this is great! more options for consumers is exactly what we need.
I guess they think a lot of games average 97.

So you wouldn't even be buying anything

The only drawback for me is that I always leave games paused or sitting. I don't think the system would account for that. Would have won to make sure to quit out.

People not having to deal with having bought a game they don't like? MS is the filthiest scum to ever walk on earth. Makes me sick to my bones. Disgusting!

There has been to much trolling lately so we couldn't if serious or not :)

Yeah. Some GAFers in hiding want to post:

"PS4 has exclusive games and Xbox Done has none, so this system means nothing. Why does anyone want to refund nonexistent games?"

*eye rolls*

Virgin tight; like Nintendo & Sony's self-service refund policy.

I mean...what they tried to do originally with the Xbox One was pretty shitty. I would not be surprised at all if some people swore off MS forever because of it

I think it is beyond stupid to swear off MS/Sony/Nintendo by any mistakes they have made in the past.

Yep it's live for me

Go to account.microsoft.com > payments and billing > order history. Eligible games will have a "request a refund button" option next to them.

Doesn't work on back compat games which I kinda expected since they mentioned XB1 and Win10

I wonder if I can refund my GoW4 I got in last years holiday bundles? I haven't redeemed it, but it's obviously been over 14 days so probably out of luck for both reasons.

Sony getting too lazy comfortable like a panda cuz they eatin good these days. They gon learn soon enough though. It's the survival of the hungriest.

Lazy?

Sometimes you gotta sit back and let the comp do their thing to see what works and what doesn't. That's the advantage of being in a leadership position.

I think they should follow suit, but it may be harder for Sony to deal with abuse, because of the way their network is setup. If it works, they'll be there.

I'm about 95% digital on all platforms I own and the only problem I have is being stuck with shit games or games I don't want, like, dues ex and mad max. Shit I bought day one and still haven't played. So this I'm all for...

If they bring the games, I'm day one on Scorpio... I think.

I wasn't trying to argue that it was reasonable or whatever but people are allowed to view corporations however they want. If they want to swear off a company and their products its totally within their right to do so

This is important. I think a lot of people oversell features that just aren't important to the average person, remember the 4K Blu-ray thread where people on here were, seemingly, livid the PS4 Pro didn't have it, but the XB1S does? The public doesn't care because they don't even care about the Pro and they don't care about 4K Blu-ray when everything is streaming now.

Feature wise MS has been on a roll lately. I think Sony ends up following suit because digital is doing well for them as well. I feel ms did this more for Windows 10 sake. They gotta compete with Steam.

I don't really expect Sony to follow suit. Why should they? They are coasting in sales.

A few complaints about some of their more odious policies will fall on deaf ears to the majority of people. Although the raft of "Sony please" comments in this thread speaks volumes...

Although once again this is why having multiple players in this industry is good for us the consumers. I shiver when I think of the ramifications of one company having no competition at all.

That's because MS can't remove licenses for 360 games. Same reason why you keep the GWG's and don't lose them once your sub lapses.

just because they are on top shouldn't mean anything. This is pro consumer and should be the standard.

I'm the biggest Sony homer in the world and I understand that.

I have never understood the reasoning behind a company like Sony not doing this or that because they're ahead in sales, console leader, etc. Especially when it benefits the consumer.

Time will come when Xbox owners will praise MS for refund policy and PS4 owners will curse Sony. Broken 3rd party game will be released.

Not bad. I imagine this is part of an MS attempt to get their store to compete with Steam (Good luck with that, lol) and them having to include Xbox One as part of the deal is a happy side effect of that. I can see many more restrictions being brought in once the rampant abuse begins though.

Lets be realistic though, any platform holder without an interest in competing in the PC space (Sony and Nintendo) aren't gonna go for something like this in a million years. It'd be great of course, but I can't see it.

Word! So true, yet people are so far up a console brands ass they can't see it.

I can't be the only one chuckling at which posters are making posts like this.

I'm not seeing this for purchases I made a few days ago. Are you in the preview program?

It's a good plan as in I figure they think of you get there game service sub or if it's good enough you won't have reason to or can't refund anyways.

Just wish old games got a bit cheaper.

360 and one games have just been too expensive for me. Ps4 not much better but better on old and sale pricing.

I'd be much quicker to bite on ten dollar 360 games and five dollar sales. Maybe subscription service will help that I hope

This is dope, good job MS. Keep on listening to what gamers what and reap the benefits in return.

This will make buying digital even better for me now. They seem to be on a roll as of late.

I have both an Xbox One and a PS4 Pro. These sorts of features mean a lot to me even though I guess I'm more of a PS fangirl. This sort of support also might make me more likely to jump into digital sales more often since I'll know that I can easily return a game that I don't like.

I'm definitely using my Pro more now but once Scorpio comes out, it will be things like this that cause me to decide what system to buy multi-platform games on and MS is doing an awful lot to make it's eco-system look pretty damned good.

Well this only applies to digital. I doubt that's going to happen because it would be mentioned in reviews and such.

That is a strange omission. Do they consider them one games or not. That should be included as its part of the ecosystem
