So now that I have my S8 plus I guess I'll update this.

As I thought, the fingerprint scanner is easy as hell for me to use.

Again, I don't know if it's because I got myself used to putting g my finger on the heart rate monitor on my S7E, but the fingerprint scanner is so easy to use......

I literally cannot BELIEVE the way professional reviewers, ESPECIALLY those with large hands (sorry mkbhd but....) are behaving like they have to use two hands to use the scanner.......wtf?. Just stop. Please. Just stop.

With any kind of case or even a skin, it's incredibly easy to feel for the scanner.

For those with smaller hands, okay. These phones are tall. Especially the plus. That doesn't change the fact that it takes the same if not more effort to swipe down the notification bar. You use the fingerprint scanner to unlock the phone and dont use it again till you stop using the phone lo g enough that the screen goes off. Pulling on the notification bar is a much more frequent task and much harder for small hands. Yet everyone is hung up on the scanner.

And we're not even talking about the fact that instead of having to press the home button first like on the S7E, we can just touch the scanner and i stantly be in the phone. Thats a level of improvement to the point where I couldn't be assed to even use the S7E scanner due to the extra to.e and step it took.

Maybe it's the fact that the S7E is the only phone I've owned with a fingerprint scanner, but it seems to me like many people, ESPECIALLY reviewers with huuuuuuugr hands, are more upset that they have to adjust their muscle memory to do so.ething different, more than the S8s scanner is "wrong". It reminds me of the days where phones would get marked down because they didn't "feel like an iphone".

I'm not saying that the scanner location is perfect, but after using it myself I can't help but be annoyed by the fact that almost every review or preview I've seen apart from youtubetechguy had me fretting about something that is actually pretty damn simple to use.

I agree completely. When marques said it was difficult, it had me worried, but I have no problem at all reaching the sensor and I don't even have to stretch. It's not confusing and I have yet to touch the camera by mistake. It just seems like it was way overblown

I'm liking my phone so far! It's amazing and awesome how easy the transfer of apps + pictures and everything is. Technology fucking rips! Also if you don't have Nova Launcher installed, wtf are you doing. Do it right now this instant.

I ordered one from Vodafone, one from Very.co.uk. Vodafone shipped with DPD and Very used Royal Mail. Sorry :(

No worries, things finally updated on the Samsung site. It looked like they processed the order yesterday but only managed to get it to the courier today.

lol, every review has this as the main complaint too. Do you think that it's inaccurate?

Where can you see HDR videos?
I don't have the phone so can't tell you if it works in the respective apps but as others have pointed out Amazon Prime has several HDR shows, so does Netflix (as long as you're subscribed to the highest plan) and YouTube.

That storm trooper pic looks incredible. 😍 How does the cropping feel in 16:9 and 21:9 media?

You don't. But by adding it, you already have a nearly stock experience if that's what you're looking for. Plus there are some awesome features like the swipable dock, custom screen swipes like swiping down to pull notification shade, and dynamic notifications badges.

Very. I don't have the biggest hands in the world, and it's perfectly fine on the S8+.

Trump sized hands should be fine with either phone.

I also agree. I only have the S8, but reaching the sensor is super easy and I haven't accidently touched the camera once. I don't understand how they made so many complaints about how often you are going to touch your camera.

It is still a little downside that it's on the back. It's just a minor inconvenience to pick it up off my desk to unlock instead of just tapping it with my thumb, but other than that, the sensor is solid.

None of that stuff is actually HDR on the phone yet.

I prefer not to crop 16:9 so I still with the pillars. 21:9 is the bomb though. It fills up the whole screen minus the curved edges so you don't get any glare on the actual content.

Glad I'm not the only one!

Super inaccurate. I keep reading and watching reviews made by people with perfectly adequate sized hands talking about two hands to use the fingerprint scanner. I was already sceptical of the criticism before I ever tried it, but now I just feel like people are behaving like idiots.

Don't flatter Trump lol

I'm using an Obliq Naked Shield and a Caseology Parallax case.

I was a bit concerned about getting another phone with the edge due to the anxiety I have with my S7E of that day where it falls on the edge and smashes.

However, it seems like the less pronounced edge of the S8 allows for higher lips on the edges of the case. The Obliq case has very little screen edge protuding above the sides of the case and the Caseology case is actually just about level with the screen.

I was dead set on a screen protector before, but I'm not feeling like it's a must anymore.

What's 21:9 these days? YouTube trailers?

I think I heard vlc player allows zoom to fit. Maybe I'll try loading some movies on the phone.

Add me to the list that has no problem reaching the new sensor (on the S8+). Because the phone is so narrow, the tallness is less of a problem. Just does not feel like an issue at all for me, and I was worried about it before release.

I will say I can see a small red tint around the edges of the screen (not a full screen tint at all) on all-white pages. Especially on the edge screens. I need to see another one in person and compare to see whether this is normal or I got a faulty unit. Might swing by the tmobile store this weekend.

I don't have a problem with the fingerprint scanner when using it one-handed, but I find that the iris scanner is even easier and works GREAT! Give it a shot if you haven't already.

You can customize/theme your home screen anyway you want. Set up gestures to open apps or turn off screen. Create a stock experience instead of using the bloat Samsung launcher. It's worth every penny of the few dollars. This has been in use for years and developers are still updating/adding features to this day.

How do I get that theme???

Anyone else doing store pickup at Best Buy?

Just wondering what your status is.
I preordered mine via the store.
I received the 100 dollars off email like 2 days ago. And I received the email that my phone will be available for pick up tomorrow.

The issue now is that the email to pick up has my mom's name in the email since she's the account holder for the whole family lmao. Now I have to call them and explained I'm an authorized user and I signed every single contract to make sure they won't stop me.

Just got a dispatch email from very, getting earlier than the expected 28th.

Haven't got a tracking number though, anyone else got it from very?

Hoping my order from very comes early but it's doubtful. Decent company though, used them a few times.

Put me on the camp of people having no issue with the location of the print scanner. I don't know how people are holding their phone, but if I put my thumb on the power button, my index sit perfectly at the right place.

If you are using youtube, are you able to select higher resolution than 720p?

I just started playing with cases.

Tech 21 Evo Check - While the case looks great and feels more durable, the power button is very hard to push. I'm hoping it might just be a issue with this particular case. Going to head to Best Buy at some point and check out the other ones.

Ringke [FUSION] - This was one of the cheap cases I ended up snagging. While I suspect it absorbing a serious drop, this case looks great on the phone and the buttons are very tactile.

I can't get Samsung Pay set up. It just hangs on the start screen, loading in perpituity. I've deleted and installed the app three times now and keep getting the same thing. I'd like to log out of my Samsung account to try it that way, but I don't see any option on the phone to do that.

you guys are all crazy Retrorika rips.

What phone cases are you guys looking at? I dont trust myself with having a naked phone.

Did yours say it would be available on 4/21 when you first ordered?

I got a case off of Amazon:
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B06XP517YT/?tag=neogaf0e-20

I wanted to get the S-View Samsung case, but not sure I want to spend $60 or have one with a folio style.

I have one of these too(the Spigen), and I don't know if I like it. With it on, I feel like you lose something in relation to how the phone should feel in your hand. Especially with the curved edges on the side. Are there any cases that offer protection that don't sacrifice the form factor too much (I assume the only way to keep it completely is with no case at all)?

That's the thing with these curved screens sadly. Can't really protect without ruining its design.

Can anyone tell me how the edge notification light works? I enabled it when the screen is off and still have yet to see it light up? Does it not work for any of the apps I have enabled it for? Hangouts, Gmail, messages, WhatsApp
