Yes and yes, I'm on Wi-Fi. Exynos version btw.

edit: signing out seemed to have helped... weird...

edit2: well for some videos, the 4k one still maxes out at 720p60, as all 60fps vids do apparently.

Having the same issue, tell us if you find à solution.

Reading online, it just seems like the YouTube app is a bit shit, don't know whether it can be helped without an update.

I'm not super impressed with the headphones by the way. They're plenty clear and I usually loathe in ear phones, but the ergonomics of these are all right, but there seems to be no bass whatsoever. Glad I didn't pay €100 for them. Free is good though (though I'd have much preferred gear VR).

What's the sexiest case for the 8+? Have never used one before but I fucked my s7 edge up twice and I'm not ruining another beautiful phone lol.

Have a look at a Caseology Parallax.

It's edges are actually level with the edges of the phone, so they're no longer exposed.

To the point where it's actually more difficult to access edge panels when swiping in, but I'll take that over unprotected edges on this phone any day.

I also had an S7E that I broke twice so I know that feel g lol, but it seems like the edges of the S8 are easier to protect and the most protective cases seem to reach up higher than S7E cases.

Just tried the facial recognition.

It's so fast and simple.

You don't even need to have the phone dead in front of you. You can look at the phone with your head at a sideways angle and it will still unlock super quick. The phone can be facing upwards with the camera pointing above your head and it will still unlock.

This finger print scanner placement isnt as bad as people made it oit to be. Works flawlessly with my grip.

I'm still quite literally bewildered at how pro reviewers were even trying to make out that you need two hands to use the scanner

I usually hold my hand lower on the phone, perhaps from using the S6 for so long, so need to wiggle it upwards to get to the fingerprint scanner. Takes too much time, so I'm just using the face unlock. The iris scanner is no good for anything not in broad daylight.

My s8 got loaded onto the van for delivery then suddenly i get the following status.

At incorrect depot Royal Mail

Never has this ever happened for something i ordered online, thanks royal mail you had one job.

i don't trust the face scanner to be reliable... and it looks like the iris scanner doesn't work with contacts? awkward fingerprint scanner it is then...

How much better is the camera from the Note 5? Looking to upgrade and have been weighing the s8 or the Xperia xzs. The camera is the most important thing to me. Both don't look to be a major step up from the Note 5. I know the xzs can do the slo motion video but that's not that important either. Others have told me to wait for the Note 8.

The screen protectors at Verizon are garbage. A good amount of sensitivity loss all around and in 10 hours the adhesive gave way.

The phone itself is great, with the battery being much improved from my S6.

The Galaxy S8 in black is some piece of technological marvel. I can't stop looking at it, and I came from a Galaxy S6.

Meanwhile, I need a good cover for it for when I go traveling. Are the samsung covers any good?

I haven't tried it at 1440p yet, but no issues playing it at 1080p60 here.

Same. Going from a S6. Can't wait to pick it up today. As far cases go, are there also any good battery cases?

does always on display stay on in the pocket? Seems like a waste of battery life there and the sensors should be able to figure out if the phone is out in the open or not.

On my G6 it's clearly off. I take it out of my pocket and it's off for like a second and then turns on right after. So try testing it that way.

I'm finding that I'm accidentally pressing the home button too long at times and bringing up google assistant (which I never plan to use). How do I disable that hard/long press so google assistant never pops up?

It's harder than I thought it would be to find a good glass screen protector for this that isn't around $50.

Wait...so if I use the Gear VR it forces me to use the Oculus app ONLY?

I can't use Google Cardboard or the Nvidia ansel thing?

y.

I think the promotion thing is a pain in the ass. Preordering in a Tmobile and they didn't exact give me a receipt stating I bought the phone so I had to go to the site and screen capped something of the sort and hopes it'll work. Why can't they just register by ya know, having the phone registered along with maybe sending a text message code or something. Not all places are going to give receipts.

Yooooo - SAME THING HAPPENED TO ME! I was going through the steps and they wanted an attachment of the receipt. I'm like wut, they didnt give me one... so yeah i went to the tmobile site (desktop view on my mobile) went into my orders and screenshoted the details. Hopefully that is enough!

edit:

Ive only had the phone for about half a day and i feel like there are so many little settings i need to learn. lol i mean i want to hide/remove the SamsungPay and Edge Dock slides from my Lock Screen. I dont need that shit there.

Also anyone with Tmobile with Lookout Premium have their premium version transfer over to their new device? I think i messed up and forgot to get a code on the initial log in/sign up screen, but trying to 'chat' with tmobile support on the tmobile app is useless. lol

You have to get package disabler plus and disable Gear service, then you can use it like a regular cardboard.

There is a setting to have the always on display turn off in dark areas such as a backpack or pocket, and I'm pretty sure it's enabled by default.

Answering my own question here, the Dual Shock 4 does indeed work okay over OTG USB now (well, the button mapping is weird, but as per all Android devices).

Just been playing some Sonic and it felt and looked pretty damned sweet.

My Best Buy order for my S8+ is still marked as preordered. The other order for an S8 has been ready since yesterday. I don't think I am getting this phone today.

Did anyone else on tmobile get an update that was supposed to improve the facial recognition?

I got one last night and now my facial recognition isn't working

Had to get https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B06XSNBDM3/?tag=neogaf0e-20 using 1 day shipping because the Zagg is delayed :/

Using the Samsung Folio case. Really nice cover so far.

Had a play with both the S8 and S8+ today. Man, what gorgeous pieces of tech.

Hitting the fingerprint scanner on both wasn't really an issue apart from smudging the camera lens, so one of my biggest concerns has gone.

Leaning towards the S8+ now. It's just lovely.

Haha. I know someone earlier mentioned possible iris issue due to their "small Asian eyes".

Late last night and this morning I was hit kind of hard due to some late night activities and my eyes were all red and more than half closed. That has been the only time I've had ANY sort of issue with the scanner.

Dim light - Easy.
Pitch black - No problem.
Tired or weary eyes - Gotta make some adjustments.

The finger scanner has been flawless for me still. I've gotten in some sort of rhythm already depending on the situation between pin, iris, fingerprint. This was my biggest concern about upgrading and I can safely say it will be a non issue.

fooling around in the settings and stumbled across an update for android/system. idk if this is specific to the tmobile version, but just a heads up i just downloaded an update.
