Wonder Boy now #1 on the NA eShop (and everywhere else?) first to beat Snipperclips!

As we all know the Switch eShop tracks best sellers in each country including what I believe was determined to be the past two weeks of sales.

During that time I've kept a pretty close eye on the US rankings and it struck me that Snipperclips never left the #1 position, not once, not even during the height of Snake Pass mania when that game was topping the charts elsewhere in the world. King Snipperclips sold 350,000 copies in March alone and continued to reign through April with an iron fist.

Until now.

The rankings as of 4/27/17:

United States said:
1. Wonder Boy: The Dragon's Trap
2. Snipperclips
3. Puyo Puyo Tetris
4. Shovel Knight: Treasure Trove
5. Mr. Shifty
6. Fast RMX
7. The Jackbox Party Pack 3
8. Has Been Heroes
9. Kamiko
10. Graceful Explosion Machine
11. Snake Pass
12. 1-2 Switch
13. The Binding of Issac Afterbirth+
14. Metal Slug 3
15. The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild

As with the last thread, if you've got the rankings for another country post it and I'll add it to the OP.

I don't think anyone will argue that Wonder Boy deserves its success. It raises the bar for retro remakes to the highest imaginable summit, and on Switch, the experience is not compromised in any way and is portable to boot.

"Snake Pass mania"?? Oh dear... You poor Switch owners. Don't worry, you have a cool system that is selling well, you will get better games to play soon.

This ranking is going to be one hell of a competition lol.

Wonder Boy, SnipperClips, Snake Pass and and Fast RMX is all going to target that first spot.

Alot of games on the switch. I'm loving it! Will need to hit up the smaller games down the road when I get bored of the mainstream games.

How's the actual movement? That's comes first in a platformer.

Its definitely not Mario. I've heard some people describe it as a bit floaty, and I think if you're playing cautiously that's true but I actually found that when I try and play fast I really like how it feels, there's a...momentum to it, the imperfect responsiveness becomes almost rhythmic.

Which is to say that its definitely not for everyone

The original had kind of "slippery" physics but the best part about the remake is that they've drawn the animations to match the physics which is an incredible improvement.

Hmm sounds like it could go either way for me then.

I don't get it... are you saying that people are pretending to like it? Is it that you can't imagine a game in this style to be enjoyable? Please tell us the (only) types of games we out to throw "mania" behind. What will earn your respect?! We all need to know!

Having never played the original, it took me just over 7 hours to 100% Wonder Boy on Normal Difficulty (not sure if I found every heart upgrade since it doesn't actually track %) and I enjoyed every moment.

I find that the visual facelift is enough to make it feel sufficiently modern compared to when you turn on retro visuals, but it's cool being able to switch between the two and see how something so archaic became such a beautiful game.

It also performs flawlessly and looks fantastic both on the TV and in handheld mode.
