I said earlier Pokémon has never been announced at E3. I gotta wonder if Laura Kate Dale is basing her words on knowledge or if she's just speculating. Either way, just cause it never happened doesn't mean it won't ever happen. Based on the past I would personally bet against an announcement at E3 though.

I think Pokémon by itself would bring a lot of momentum and hype to Switch so imo it makes sense to give it its own event.
That tweet seemed more like her own educated guess to me.

Nintendo is no longer in panic mode where they need people to please be excited for something that comes much later. If a Direct is coming, I think it much more likely revolves around ARMS. Pokemon Stars will be first revealed with a trailer, whenever (probably E3), and only closer to release with a Direct.

Why are we speculating about Stars? Sorry i dont get it, is there sometjing that points directly to pokemon or is just a mere speculation (desire)?

Main Pokemon games are rarely announced at E3, some stars (like constellations) merch was announced and Pokemon is big enough for its own direct

But as mentioned before, The Pokémon Company does reveals on their own terms. Not once have they ever revealed a mainline game at E3. Dystify was even nice enough to put this together.

While it's most likely correct to assume that they won't reveal at E3, never say never. Pokemon Sun and Moon, while already announced at the time, were the first Pokemon games to have a comprehensive demo showing at an E3, and I seem to recall them being pleased with the response. It'd make a modicum of sense then to embrace that even more, however unlikely.

This is honestly an interesting point. I'm now open to the idea of Stars being a big E3 announcement. Regardless of where it will potentially be announced, I just hope its real and comes out this year. Playing Sun/Moon in HD and being able to Switch between portable/TV play sounds like a goddamn dream.

People are reading too much into that merch

Even if Stars does come this year, that merchandise line is 100% unrelated. Cosmog is a celestial Pokémon, so this follows its concept.

Speaking of Detectives, not necessarily related to this rumored Direct (though who knows?), but Creatures recently moved to a new building, and they posted this image on Twitter:
Detective Pikachu can be seen outside the building. Nothing major, but I thought it was worth a mention because there are people who have been worrying about the project's fate after over a year of no news about the game's localization and/or continuation. Since they are using the character in promotional material, chances are that it is still very much alive in Creatures. I'm guessing we'll have more on it as we head closer to the movie adaptation.

Well Detective Pikachu still has a movie coming. Maybe they changed their plans for the game and will deliver a complete package instead of episodes closer to the movie's release.

That's what I was thinking. The project certainly has a long history. I almost wonder if they released the first episode simply to gauge interest about the movie.

I totally agree with you.
I also think that if there is direct it is about some nothingness like virtual console or accounts

But the person asked why people are saying pokemon xD

Detective Pikachu still not localized is really sad, I hope they are probably porting it to Switch at least, this late after the Japanese's version release.

We still haven't even heard anything about the rest of the episodes for Detective Pikachu too =/

First episode is to be continued.

Man now that Sony announced their E3 plans all that's left is Nintendo...I hope we get it this week so Nintendo fans can join the fun.

And the Direct next week of course.

If E3 plans aren't given this week, I think we'll hear about them the week of the 15th.

We already had an ARMS direct last week.

Cosmog/Nebby is also one of the most adorable things that Game Freak has ever made. Even more than Pikachu in my opinion. So this stars concept is great for me! I'm so getting the Nebby plushie.

But it would be nice to get Pokemon Stars with it to please!

I agree. We will know their plans by Friday of next week the latest.

Maybe the direct is an E3 event preview.

Ehh they've never done that before. They don't really need a Direct to tell us "Digital Event on Tuesday, Treehouse and Splatoon tournament". They've done a 3-5 minute video on their YouTube channel a couple of times.

ORAS was annouced on May 7th and the first gameplay of Sun and Moon was released on May 10th, this makes me feel like we're getting the Stars announcement this month, if not in the next week or two.

That was a weird thing that went absolutely nowhere. (as of now of course)
I expected differently upon first seeing it

They've done Nintendo mini-directs in the past. Perhaps they do one with it starting with the announcement of Stars and it being playable at E3 segueing into an outline of their E3 plans.

My first thought it an E3 plans announcement, but that is not a direct.

My second thought it an ARMS direct since the last one didn't give us as much info as I expected and there is still tons to find out before it launches.

3rd, maybe FE Echoes Direct

I hope it's a 5 min Direct like Sun and Moon.

And they just show the logo and don't tell you what console. For maximum trolling

Ideally they would do a 3DS focused mini-Direct before E3 and save E3 for pure Switch fanfare!
This is what I want. I want the 3DS to have its own separate presentation from the Digital Event, which should be all Switch, but knowing Nintendo that won't happen.

There is precedence in the past though. I believe it was E3 2012 they said the main presentation was only going to be Wii U (they still did a small 3DS segment) and they did a separate one hour presentation for 3DS.

Didn't that game morph from a murder mystery game in concept to a game about mundane every day mysteries and there was some weird push by fans to ruin the localization with a stupid voice for pikachu?
