First off, the digital version of RiME on Nintendo Switch will now cost $29.99 / €34.99 / £29.99, the same price as the game on other platforms. So, that’s straightforward enough.

For the Nintendo Switch version of RiME, all physical copies will include a printed code for a download of the complete, beautiful soundtrack by David García (a sample of which you can find here). You will be able to download the music via Bandcamp in one of the multiple high-quality formats. The soundtrack is planned on being sold separately for $10 in the US (and equivalent prices elsewhere), and so the value you’re going to get out of this will be the same as somebody who purchased a different version of RiME, and then bought the soundtrack.

That's a great decision. If it runs well on Switch, I'll get it for that (physical).

This is quite noteworthy though, as some doubted that going physical on Switch is more expensive than on other platforms:
On the physical side, we can't lower the price without selling at a loss

Awesome way to lessen the blow of the added physical media cost. Makes my decision final - physical because I LOVE soundtracks. FLAC is icing.

This is awesome. And thank goodness it's a bandcamp link! I don't use streaming sites like Spotify or the Apple or Google music services, so this is a godsend.

I wonder if a lot of switch games are going to add some bonus for every physical version to offset the additional cost (PuyoPuyo Tetris' keychains, now this soundtrack).

So much for that "digital has to be same price as retail" non-sense.

Kudos for listening and acting on player feedback.

Okay that change is acceptable. Digital being the same price as the other versions with the retail having something else included. I had no problem with the higher retail cost for Puyo Puyo Tetris because of the keychains. I actually use them and like them. A high quality download of the OST is good.

However it does goes to show in the end the original excuse wasn't true. When shit like this happens again people need to continue to speak up. That's for everything though.

Nice, will look into the game now! Shame it releases later, but that was the forgiveable of the two slights.

So charging $10 more for digital was just an attempt at a money grab?
To quote the orange shithead in charge... "Sad!"

Yeah, this is good. Totally fine paying extra for a physical copy plus a soundtrack. Having some sort of incentive to justify the higher physical cost is good. With the digital price now being universal, everyone wins.

Makes their excuses from the start seem pretty absurd, but yes this is the right way to do things.

Yeah, this makes their excuses seem like grandstanding that they backed down on and doesn't make it believable.

Well, our complaining worked so hurray

Funnily enough, going by Amazon.com, the Switch version was already the highest one on the best sellers rankings, in spite of the higher price / unknown release date (and, above all, well after the price error, which means its current position shouldn't be influenced by the incident too much, if not at all )

RiMe

Switch - 335th
PS4 - 581st
Xbox One - 1,731st

This is probably going to help even further.

I took advantage of the Amazon glitch so I guess I'm getting extra stuff for the same price, nice. Hope the port isn't trash

Oh, btw:
SEGA had released Puyo Puyo in a similar fashion. Retail is more expensive but digital was $10. Retail also had a bonus. So charging the same for the digital and physical version was just a bad excuse

Is that based on recent orders or just overall? There was that short period of time where Amazon fudged the Switch price on pre-orders.

Well, between this and Puyo Puyo Tetris, it seems there's a loophole in Nintendo retail / pricing rules: just add a special bonus to the retail version and you can release a game on the digital storefront at a lower MSRP.
