basically the perfect build

He has that effortlessy fit look. Like, he eats right, does some fitness related stuff. The opposite of super swole spends hours in the gym (which is me)

I will preface this with saying that gaining weight at least very slowly is probably the most efficient way to build muscle mass in the long run in most situations.

Interestingly enough, I read some more and Lyle amended his "1lb a week calorie surplus/weight gain" to "1-2lbs a month", even for newbie males. So a 500 calorie a day surplus is arguably on the high side, with 250 being more realistic.

People care way too much about how other people perceive them

not necessarily relating this to the article, I'm just talking in general about some of the responses and discussion in this thread

it always amazes me to see guys struggle to comprehend that you can get with amazing, attractive girls and not be ripped or jacked in the slightest

some of the hottest and coolest girls I know are with guys that barely even hit the gym

You just have to be at least average height and not butt-ugly. Or have money/a career/influence...

I wish I qualified. ;_; But for now, it's hitting the weights (and textbooks).

"Effortlessly"

Homey is pushing 50. I bet he spend 2 hours in the gym daily, hasn't eaten a carb in years, and ingests a hundred dollars of GNC's best every week.

What is the actual ratio of muscle to fat you would likely gain while eating at a surplus? Something like 300 calories above your tdee and 1g of protein per lb?

And he's probably at ~5% bodyfat, which can be difficult to get to let alone maintain (especially) in your later years. (Without "help")

And folks- the difference between "swole" and "cut" is often just a matter of bodyfat. Take a swole guy and diet him down or a cut guy and feed him some marshmallows...

This is too vague of a question without specifics but a lb of fat consists of 3500 calories so if you were at a 300 calorie surplus for a month and gained only fat you'd gain about 2.5lbs of fat.
It's reasonable to expect to gain 1-2lbs a month of actual muscle if you are training hard and your other recovery factors are decent when you are a complete beginner so you could maybe expect half of that to be muscle and half to be fat. However there are diminished returns and most people are probably not going to gain 2lbs of muscle a month for longer than 6 months or so, the higher end of this i.e. gaining 24lbs of actual muscle mass in the first year of training without significant fat gain will probably only happen with great genetics and everything else on point.

A 300 cal surplus is a good starting point if you want to minimise fat gain, going too far under that will make it difficult to determine if you're actually in a surplus with inaccuracies due to food tracking and variable activity levels. You need to also consider that as you gain weight your maintenance will go up, when you start to maintain your weight at what used to be a caloric surplus a good idea would be to bump up your calories by another 10% which will probably be around 300ish more.

News flash, a lot of men want to get into shape, not to impress ladies, but because they themselves like the look! Crazy how people can desire certain body types, or wear certain outfits, not for external validation, but because they like the way it makes them look and feel! How this is being twisted into some form of mansplaining is bizarre and only serves to highlight the double standards and hypocrisy that always follow any talks of muscles on GAF
Prrrreeacchh.

That people lift for themselves and not to "impress" others seems to be a foreign concept for some here.

This is the perfect body. It's like Michelangelo's David. It's what I wish I could look like.

Michelangelo's David is a weird physical ideal to have, as the figure's proportions are deliberately exaggerated since it was originally intended to be placed on top of the Florence Cathedral and viewed from the ground.

I don't think so. A lot of a relationship is about how well you get along together. It's a bit like meeting friends. You don't need to be super attractive to get along with someone. If you get along, that already goes a long way.

There are plenty of people who are average looking, don't have fit bodies, aren't rich and so on, and they can get into relationships. Having looks/money/power is not a requirement to get a girlfriend. Most people aren't butt-ugly either, as long as they take decent care of themselves hygiene wise. I mean if you're grossly overweight then it'll likely hurt your chances, but you don't need to be super fit before you can even try to talk to a girl. Being at an average level of fitness is fine to most people.

Only the head and hands are exaggerated. Nothing else about the figure looks unusual or weird

Somehow I don't think the poster was idealizing the statues giant head and hands, but the body. Maybe I'm wrong.

So at best 1:1 while natural, about what I expected. This is why I'm so tempted to use drugs tbh. My face will right back to where I started long before I get a decent body.

Posts like that always make me laugh. You can tell some people think the second you hit the gym you become huge, as if it doesn't take months to years for people who are actually dedicated, let alone anyone else. No one is effortlessly muscular

People have weird blind spots and perceptions about others. It reminds me of a similar blindness that a lot of guys have for how much makeup women are wearing.

You seem to be fixated on your facial attractiveness as if that is all that matters and I'm not sure how this thread will change your mind after spending so long on certain sites and being influenced by them.

It's your body and I think you have the right to do what you want with it, but have you properly considered the negative side effects?.
With all this talk of facial attractiveness, have you considered that your face will age much quicker, if you're prone to balding you will lose your hair quicker etc.
I've seen some youtubers talk about tren and the nasty side effects it can have, your dick might stop working, you may not be able to sleep, have irrational anger outbursts, hormonal problems etc.

Just make sure you are fully informed on the topic before you go on and don't just look for biased information before you decide to go on a path that what will affect your life forever.

there is no point in arguing with him, his reasons to take test are absurd and laughable

Yeahh, it's just like that

Facial symmetry isn't a joke, just look at models and Hollywood actors, they almost all have symmetrical faces

Somehow Ryan Gosling is popular despite his noticeably asymmetrical face

I recently noticed that my face/jawline symmetry is all fucked up. Makes some selfies look out of whack :(

I believe he's mentioned in the OP article as being way too buff/perfect to be a small town alcoholic sheriff.

Average-looking =/ ugly. And not the sort of ugly that people in the OT seem to think they are.

Thank fuck Luke Skywalker wasn't being concepted now.

The muscley uber-gym (and yeah probably steroids) shape is really getting out of hand. It's ludicrous. Saw a guy out on the street the other day who literally looked like two people stuck together at the waist. Spindly legs in skinny jeans, then when you reached his chests and arms built like a tank. Guy was a fucking upside down triangle.

I know it looks hot on your tinder and you'll no doubt effortlessly get some easy girls thanks to that... but what price your self respect. What price looking back in your old age and not regretting how much of a bell end you are?

(Says short guy with moobs and a belly who's ferociously jealous)

Most girls I've talked to about this, has said that they prefer a guy with some fat and muscles, than a scrawny guy. Basically, a "sturdy guy".

You know that they've had a bunch of new Star Wars characters recently, none of whom have bods like this, right.
The platonic ideal of the "dad bod".

As opposed to rich celebrities who happen to be out of shape.

Living that life. I could lose some fat, but chicks seem to dig the dad bod sturdiness.
