Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Remastered available now standalone

I got the game at release for roughly the same price through a bundle dlc code (came also with a copy of Infinite Warfare, which I didnt even care to download).

I played the shit out of Modern Warfare back then on 360 and got tired of the series after Black Ops, so maybe it's also a bit of nostalgia speaking but....the game is fine. I think it's pretty scummy to charge for the map pack (and I haven't and will not buy it), but the base game is fine. I've never felt that the whole loot drop stuff had an actual impact on the gameplay and I'm kinda disappointed that they didn't tease anything regarding another remake at e3 (I'd love to play MW2 as well). These days I mainly prefer to play Titanfall 2, Rainbow Six or Playerunknown's Battlegrounds, but every now and then it's fun to just tap into the "classic" Call of Duty days, since they pretty much nailed the feeling of the original. Vacant, Crash, Pipeline, Backlot etc are still fun to play.

40 is a bit steep, but at 30 bucks, this is good value.

DLC not even included? An extra 15 USD for four maps? Four maps that were in the original game to begin with? Holy fuck Activision, fuck you.

I enjoyed my time with the Remaster until they announced that they were going to charge for the DLC maps. I just can't get past that. I have not played the game since.

They already got your money, why did you suddenly give a shit after you already gave your money away?

I certainly would have tried to get my monies worth.

Anyway, Infinite Warfare was the first CoD I didn't buy in a decade, and I'm not gonna buy this remaster as well. Won't buy WW2 either. I think I'm just over it.

And fuck their practice of charging for DLC on a remaster (it's extra bad since the DLC is complete, but they nickle and dime their customers by not putting it in the stand alone release). The DLC even costs more than when it first came out.

Didn't Activision or a spokesperson for Activision specifically state that this will NEVER be standalone?

What a load of shit that turned up to be.

In typical Activision fashion it's also entirely way too overpriced for what you're getting.

I'm surprised that people are actually suggesting 15$ for regular price on such a high quality remaster. Of course 40$ is way too much, but I feel like even 30$ would have been justifiable and 20$ for me would have been instant buy.

Call me crazy but since there is no modern like non-futuristic online shooter atm beside Battlefield 1( which im not interested ) im considering picking that one up. Got a crave for a online shooter, got Black Ops on PC, but population count is abysmal, only finding games of TDM when i want to play some Domination, and there seem to be a freakin bug that just reset my progress to lvl 1...,

But been wondering, how is the population count on PS4 like? Will i have trouble finding a Domination game? I want to grab it on PS4, the level reset bug with Black Ops really turn me off of getting it for PC. Guess i will get a 3 month of Plus to have something working.

You can upgrade the base IW to the Legacy Edition with MWR now on PC, player count is still super low though. 300~ according to steam charts. Once the standalone comes out I wonder if it will rise any. Blops 3 manages 5000~ daily. IW sits around 500-1000.

super lame. i mean the game itself isn't on the disc, its a digital code that you redeem. got hoodwinked and can't sell IW now.

I already paid extra to get MW:R included with IW, that really blows. And like you said, it's a completely separate download, shouldn't have to use the IW disk to launch now that they are selling this separate.

$40 is way too much money for me. Especially since I'll just be playing the campaign. I'd replayability the multiplayer if they didn't add loot boxes and included the dlc from the original. I'll wait for it to go in sale for $20 or less.

30 + map pack would've been correct.

What fucking remaster takes maps out, and then sell them as DLC at a higher price than original packs?

Usually you get the full whack when a game is rereleased. Its not like you had to pay for Left Behind on PS4.

That isn't the standalone, you need to have Infinite Warfare to buy that. Standalone will be €40.

What do you get from lootboxes and DLC? I thought it was all cosmetics that weren't even in the original game

You need to open loot boxes to unlock some guns in the game. All guns in the loot boxes are new and not from the original game, and they are not just cosmetic. It has been this way for the last 4 COD games now.

DLC is a $15 map pack that they're selling again.

I got the game bundled with Infinite Warfare. It was a good remaster that i played for a while until the $15 map pack. It completely turned me off the game. I probably haven't touched it in a few months.

To be fair, those maps were not included in cod4. They were dlc. Still rediculous pricing all around.

I still can't play my copy of Dead Space Extraction HD on PS3 without having the Dead Space 2 disc in there, even after it was released standalone.

Fucking Activision. Stores over here already had the Legacy Edition for 25€ and now Activision tries to sell this for 55 bucks. Fuck off.

I would've bought IW Legacy or MW Remastered for 25, by the way. Didn't have the money at the time, though.

Well if anybody was hoping they could finally dump their IW disc, I got some bad news for you.

Wow, these guys just sunk into a new low... I thought that it couldn't get any worst, but it did....

At least Bamco didn't require you to own the disc version of God Eater 2: God Burst to play the standalone version of God Eater: Resurrection, and that costs $20!

So I just bought the legacy edition on Xbox for half of what Activision want for this on its own, talk about terrible pricing.

Super off topic, but I've noticed that the Halo Master Chief Collection I have as physical version doesn't require the disc to be in the Xbone's drive. Has this always been this way?

Battlefield 4 is still one of the best multiplayer shooter experiences, and has a very good amount of people still playing. Maybe grab 12 months of Plus and get Battlefront Deluxe for free? Futuristic in style, but gameplay wise it's a traditional, and very fun game.

More lookin for faster smaller map action like COD, have tried BF4, not bad, but its not COD gameplay. Kid of curious about SW, but it remind me gameplay of Battlefield in a Star Wars environment.

Well, atm, i just pick up Ghosts for 7$, going to give this game a second chance..., with that i will see if im ready to jump back with MW, which i never played. Im curious if the population count is at least as big as Ghosts, which surprised me a bit, near 4k people playing atm, and i can play some Domination!

Hot damn, then it's D-O-fucking-A.

People are stupid in general, but I really doubt a lot of people will spend €40 on a remake that doesn't include all (DLC) maps.
Remember when all those YouTube dislikes were going to keep Infinite Warfare from being the best selling game of 2016?

Double check that you own it digitally? I'm pretty positive it required the disc if you only have a disc copy.

Didn't it? You seem to imply that wasn't the case. IW sold significantly less than earlier games. Whether or not it was 2016s most sold game isn't really relevant, maybe it didn't have a lot of competition (although selling more than BF1 really feels off...). The drop in sales was very noticeable, and apparently enough for Activision to not be satisfied with it.
