He averaged a fucking triple double.

Well deserved.

Is this award not handed out before the playoffs are over?

It's a new thing this year, they do an actual awards show after the playoffs are finished. Before we knew all the winners by the end of the second round.

i love how worked up people get over this

It wasn't even the most relevant basketball related thing that happened today

LaMelo "Beat that niggas ass" Ball probably garnered more attention

It IS a stupid move to have this award ceremony be AFTER the Finals and the NBA Draft

Hopefully Silver learns from it and puts it in the deadzone from Regular season to Playoffs next time

Man this narrative that Rockets were a stacked team is hilarious

lmao

projected to be worst than the Thunder and this is what happens...

We calling the Rockets stacked now? Lmao

Once again for reading comprehension. Houston has shooters/scorers on that roster. They're still a top four offense without him.

OKC offense is in the toilet without Westbrook. Not complicated.

Are your arguing that the Beard plays defense?

I guess it's "Most Valuable" and not "Greatest Player" or "Best Player" so it makes sense. But what an empty achievement when your team is garbage.

Might as well give "Best Game Performance" to that kid who scored like 80 points for the Suns, 25 of them in garbage time. And they still lost.

They actually did have a fan vote for best performance. Klay won for his 60pt game.

WB worked his ass off. He deserved it even if he couldn't carry OKC past the first rnd.

Your chart is moot, Denver is a top offense as well

SAS are ranked below Toronto

Great players make their teammates better and that's what Harden did

Rockets were projected to have a worst season record than the Thunder before the regular season started. This narrative that Rockets are stacked came out of this regular season when Rockets didn't turn to complete shit when Harden was off the floor while the Thunder did when Russ was off. Not really Harden's fault Billy Donovan doesn't know how to coach when Russ is on the bench.

And Harden's defense is improved from previous seasons, another thing that has carried over for him and not carried over for other players.

The only argument I have against him is his astronomical turnover rate and even then Russ is right there behind him.

Y'all pull these charts out when they don't mean anything when you put it into proper context. No reading comprehension is required for that.

You can look at it one of two wayBoth involve one player carrying a terrible roster into the sixth seed. In the Western fucking conference.

There are like 2 teams in the NBA that deserve to be called stacked. The team whose second best player was Eric Gordon is not one of them.

That's true. Stacked is the wrong term. Well since average works.

There's nobody on the OKC roster after Westbrook who compares to Gordon or Beverly. Hell, Trevor Ariza would be the second best scorer on OKC.

a player's value is independent from the team he's on, i don't understand why people always have such a hard time with this.

you call it an empty achievement, but the award would be a lot less meaningful if you had to be lucky enough to be on a handful of select teams to even qualify

If you actually believe this then can we just give Lebron the award every year like he actually deserves?

Lol most valuable player that wins grand total of crap all. Kills team chemistry and even the great kd left his ass behind to win a ring. Most valuable for destroying the thunder maybe

YNB deserved it. The triple double, and the fact that James Harden has that nasty beard. I also hate the way Harden gets so many calls.

But for real, trim that mess.

Sorry, but the Thunder would not even be a footnote if not for RW. I'm not a fan of the guy but to come to play every night for this shitty team and average a triple double is something special. He's more valuable to his team than anyone. You take him out of the lineup and see what happens.

If either the beard or kd stayed instead of RW you don't think Thunder will be in a better state? The way he played kills the team, no one can get even warm while playing with him. With or without WB thunder will not make it pass the first round so I don't see that big a difference. Objective of the game is to win a ring.

Quit with this filth. You are wrong. Previous seasons he was more of a hog.

I watched every game this season. His assists would be much higher but his teammates cant make a shot to save their lives.

He passed the ball quite often every quarter. He needs a second offense
