Stormy Ascent was crazy difficult on the original Crash, and was cut because of that, you guys really want to pain yourselves more?

Will it stop my trophy count from not actually showing 100% even though I have the platinum for the first game? Then yes, I will buy it.

To everyone attempting the high road trial. Don't give up. Main thing is just being patient enough to get the muscle memory down to do the rope jump successfully. Also don't try to run on the ropes for an extended time THAT is a bad idea. Use the ropes to act as a platform between gaps just a bit to large for crash to jump.

Honestly I just put on a podcast and listened to it while I worked on the level. And remember for turtle jumps all you have to do is hold the jump button to get the proper height once you are airborne that goes for successive jumps as well. Yall can do it.
You shouldn't have to rely on the ropes to make good time, it's not intended and I wouldn't be surprised if they made the changes to collision solely to make ropejump/walking extremely difficult.

And the turtles do not work. It's a complete crapshoot whether the first turtle you have to use to cross the gap actually gets me across or not. I'll either slide off the fucker or not bounce high/far enough, no matter how hard I'm holding down the X button. When I do make it, I have done nothing different than the last half-dozen times.

Position of the turtles matters. But if they are positioned close to the edge and you just hold down the X button you shouldn't have any problems height wise as long as you're also holding forward the instant you impact from the jump.

The way the time trials work you have to do a lot of stuff in levels you wouldn't do normally in casual playthroughs to get good times. I don't mean to come off sounding snide but that's part of the point of the time trials. They can be frustrating and they might not be for everyone. But learning how to manipulate the levels to your advantage is part of the process of getting Gold or better on times.

God damn. Just got the Plat in Crash 1. I'm glad I'll never have to do that again.

It was more fun than I thought it'd be, though. I gained a much greater appreciation for the level design going for the Relics.

Have like 11 gold/plat relics in Crash 1 so far. Currently trying to get fumbling in the dark.
Got really close to Native Fotress gold, so not so worried about that one. But Sunset Vista, High Road, The Lab...sheesh.

Edit: Took me until the time trials on the dark levels to realize you can now spin enemies without worrying about them breaking the Aku Aku masks, unlike the original game. They break the crate but you'll still get the mask.

*unless that enemy hits a TNT box, which will destroy masks (and I think bonus round icons). I remember this being important on one of the tomb levels.

Actually it might only be bonus round icons, I'm not 100% sure.

Yeah TNT will make bonus icons go flying. Messed me up a couple of times in other levels. And lives. You get the mask as soon as you break the box though, don't think it has a chance to fly away anymore

After getting the platinum trophy in Crash 1 and 2, I started Crash 3 today.
Already like it more than Crash 2.

Crash 1 and 3 are the best to me, each for different reasons.

Crash 2 is a little bit weaker, in my opinion.

So, I bought the game. I kind of want to go from easiest to hardest (so 3 to 1) to not put up with the challenging Crash 1 and then jump dramatically to something easier.

Or is going for 100% in Crash 2/3 still challenging?

Beat Crash 2. After that last level (fuck Spaced Out, but I suppose it's not as bad as some Crash 1 levels), the final boss was pretty anticlimactic.

They do pull some punches with Coco. I wish they would burn her to a crisp like they do with Crash. I'm going to give them the benefit if the doubt and say it's more because Crash is super goofy and fun to see killed rather than a girlz vs. boiz thing. Could also be they just ran out of time to apply the animations to her on some things.

One of the fake thumbnails at the end of the video is actually one that has been popping up for me over and over (the RLM one). Extra immersion.

Don't know if anyone else ran into this issue, but I started up a new save file in Crash 2 and the 1UP crates didn't repopulate.

I was relieved to realize this was probably a joke

I do wish there were a few more animations for Coco, it is weird that she has nothing special for bees or burns. At the same time, it is a bit understandable why they'd pull their punches a bit. Crash is a wacky, cartoony ball of chaos of indeterminate age who's dating Pamela Anderson's fursona. He's a classic slapstick cartoon character; he was designed to take all this crazy punishment and look hilarious doing so. Coco, however, is his definitively kid sister. VV did a fantastic job making her more cartoony and silly like her brother, but she still wasn't made for slpastick the way Crash was. Some things aren't going to be as funny to see Coco go through as Crash, and gender does play a part in that as well. Like, in that sense I'm a little surprised Coco gets the same frog prince death as Crash in Crash 3.

Plus there's the obvious point: there's no way in hell they'd show a young girl's underwear, especially in the context of a "death" animation, and especially in the context of a grown ass man cutting off her clothes. But we all know that. Right?

There are some missing death animations for Crash though, Toxic Waste springs to mind, in Crash 1 he'd get flattened by the barrels, in N. Same here does the basic angel animation.

I also wished they'd somehow worked his Crash 1 spin and faint death into the game somewhere.

Yeah this and the "YEEEEEEEEE-HAAAAAAH!!!" at the end of a boss are sorely missed.

This game proves how games in the last 10 years have become 'stupefied'

Crash 1 and 2 are the hardest games i have ever played.

And i completed them when i was 10 years old!

I am really struggling now

Games these days are so much easier to appeal to wider audience i guess, stupid kids

There's just more variety in difficulty these days. Back then almost every game was as hard as nails.

If you only play AAA (particular open world/RPGs) then you won't find much challenge, but those games tend to be more focussed on the story and challenge just gets in the way of that.

Man, whoever designed the "Diggin It" level to require you to backtrack for boxes while those fucking bees come after you constantly is a monster.

These jetpack levels in Crash 2 are not fun.

Yeah, I had so many problems with those levels. My main issue was never being sure if the obstacles were right in front of me or not, so many deaths due to me misjudging the depth of the levels... The second one was a pain to time attack as well, outside of maybe Piston it away and Hangin' Around it was probably the one I had the most issues with (and I at least ended up enjoying those other two levels). Controls weren't great either for the jetpack levels, first time I played Rock It I just fumbled about getting up and accelerate round the wrong way!

Though I did manage them in the end and I'm happy that I've got the platinum trophy for Crash 2. Loved the game, strangely the most issues I had with backtracking came in one of the earliest levels (one of the first 5, I forget the name), compared to that I had far fewer problems on the later levels that required backtracking for some odd reason. Then again backtracking 2D levels was way easier than doing into the camera platforming.

I'll take a short break and then start Crash 3, never played it before so I'm looking forward to giving it a shot.

Tip for those struggling with Piston It Away: skip the bonus round and leave it for when you have to backtrack. You're allowed to die on your way back to the death platform, so clear the bonus round on your trip back to use it as a checkpoint. It'll reduce the distance you'll need to go if you die on your way to the death platform.

It was actually harder for me as I have to hear them coming and I am deaf so it was a bit tricky.

Yeah, I kept forgetting that the bonus levels now act as check point, though it didn't matter as I died and ran out of lives and I haven't been back to finish the level yet.

I'm surprised the accessibility features for N.Sane are basically non-existent. You'd think they would at least offer subtitles for dialogue like almost every modern game :/. Closed captioning might not be standard in games, but for sections that rely on audio cues like Diggin' It I would have hoped they'd find a way to implement it.

Crash 1....if youre gonna require no deaths and all boxes for the colored gems, then this game is in serious need of a quick restart option if you die instead of having to watch the abysmally long load times to exit the level and then again to start it back up. So aggravating

After playing some from each game, I have to say that I don't really understand why people were losing their shit so much over Crash before this was announced lol. They're good but are also filled with a good amount of "wow, this sucks" moments.

I'll be seriously bummed if Activision goes all in on Crash and we don't get anything for Spyro
who is FAR more deserving
. And in my dreams they get Stewart Copeland to come back to oversee the updated music.

Almost finished with all Gems/Relics in Crash 2. Overall I think the time trials have been generally easier with no real problem levels on the same tier as The High Road from crash 1 but also I've gotten way way fewer Platinum times.
