I was NOT prepared for that. Fuck. Talk about being blindsided by a left hook

Except they are supposed to be from Chicago.................................
Are they? Jesus it has been a while lmao. Regardless, I recall a variety of accents. We had the more German-sounding one, a southern/Texas one, some folks spoke with a more neutral accent, I think I recall others too.

It was fun. And it's something you'd miss with the Japanese VA, which while (probably) very good it wasn't as often we got such a fun English dub.

What genre? What are you in the mood for?

Maybe something lighter and softer after the overly dramatic hamminess that is Code Geass, which is why I'm considering TWGOK or Slayers so far. Character development would be a plus, so I'd rather stay away from episodic shows or SoL.

wow does Baccano really look that bad?

Those are some random mobsters that show up for a couple seconds at best, but I remember named characters looking decent enough.

We all know Mahoujin Guruguru (2017) is the true AOTS this time around! I really wish I did watch the original, but sadly I ain't got the time to watch that many episodes in a row nor the sanity in finding it.

Man, it's tough with no SoL.. You've probably already seen a bunch of these, but off the top of my head, these are shows that are a lot lighter in tone for the most part and offer decent to really good character developement. I stayed away from all the SoL and or pure relationship/romance shows.

Blast of Tempest
Etotama
Fruit of Grisaia
Beck
Katanagatari
Outbreak Company
Heavy Object
Princess Nine
Scrapped Princess
Gargantia
Tales of Zestiria the X
Problem Children are coming From Another World
Gate
Horizon in the Middle of Nowhere

FUCK ME I was wrong. The new Tylor series is really, really, really, really, really, really bad and that bums me out.

Irresponsible Galaxy Tylor always sounded like a cheap cash-in title to me (is Tylor literally an irresponsible galaxy?), but I'm still sad to hear it did turn out to be bad in the end.

OT title was eerily true this time around... oh well, at least I'm finally watching older stuff I'm actually enjoying rather than spending time on bad seasonal stuff.

It's not even the same Tylor. The anime starts by saying that it's been centuries since Tylor's era and he has since passed away. The new Tylor is called "Banjo Ueki Tylor." I guess he's related to the old Tylor?

At least it's mercifully short. Only 3 minutes per episode.

Wait what... it's actually a short? RIP, my dear Tylor.

It sounds nothing but a really really cheap cash-in, but I don't even know why someone would want to exhume a seris such as this to tell a story that's tangentially related to the original at best.

I have no idea either. Like, I can't imagine this is a property that would even be good for cash-ins. It's so old and...man. MAN. I have no idea what they are doing with this. Plus the tone is all over the place. It's just so sad. Man.

One day I realized that sadness is just another word for not enough coffee.
Spinoff obviously featuring that useless hero guy.

Hidamari Sketch - It was okay. It's no Yuru Yuri.

Abenobashi Magical Shopping District - 04 - This is great! Which means I have to put it on hold to let my friend catch up so we can laugh at the rest of it together.

Patlabor OVAs - 01 - This is pretty good so far. I watched one of the movies around 12 years ago and didn't see the appeal at the time. Finding the appeal of the series in the OVA has me looking forward to rewatching the movie to see how I feel about it now.

(These 3 are also making use of a Hidive trial.)

Princess Precure - 22 - This has certainly become more enjoyable in the last few episodes. Doing more of the thing I like about Precure, so it's time to go watch more!

Code Geass R2 - #18
Okay, so just as Suzaku's about to die, the Geass-enforced order Zero gave him for personal gain rears its ugly head once again, getting Nunally killed and plunging Lelouch into the deepest pits of despair (while probably making Suzaku wish he could kill himself). While all this is melodramatic as hell, I love how well the show uses character flaws that were established early on as the final straw that ends up breaking the camel's back, like any tragedy worth its salt should.

Man, Katsugeki Touken Ranbu look damn good. I wish all shows looked this good. It's really impressive how just regular scenes look great, and the actions scenes look amazing. Like OVA-quality throughout.

It gave us the best Lelouch face ever as well. Nukes are bad.

All Ufotable and Kyoto Animation shows look this good. Now, if only said show has a premise and writing that is actually worth those production values instead of being dumb shit promoting a F2P gambling game.

Fate Zero

Finally finished this. Really good all the way through! I knew deep in my heart that Rider couldn't win but it still hurt, RIP. Kirei really stepped up his villain game and was fantastic, as was Gilgamesh (who I didn't like at all earlier). The shit with Kariya was brutal. The ending was fantastic although I'm not 100% on what exactly happened with the grail. Definitely left me hungering for more, so...

FSN Unlimited Blade Works 1

Okay, so I can deal the more "anime" tone and teenage protagonist but boy are other things bothering the shit out of me. Like Sakura and Rin apparently going to the same fucking school? 3 masters in the same school (I get that 2 of them are from the major families but see previous complaint). Why does the grail have a hard on for teenage masters all of a sudden? Why is Sakura acting so normal? Why is it that a servant, who were shown to be vastly superior to even veteran mages and hardened killers, can be parried twice by some no-name wimp? Why did he summon Saber without the chant?

At least the animation was nice. I dug some of the details like the leftover summoning circle.

You already passed the one decent part of that series, should probably cut your losses

Give up on UBW and wait for the Heaven's Feel movies. Will probably still hurt, but 3 dumb movies is less painful than 25 episodes of garbage characters. Plus the only satisfying conclusion of the FSN story that ties up the loose ends from Fate/Zero is in Heaven's Feel.

They can't possibly expect people to go in with zero knowledge of FSN in Heaven's Feel. Are they going to retell it from zero as if the audience wasn't familiar with it?

Because if not, the UBW show might be the best option outside of possibly reading the original VN.

What if you watched Thunderbolt Fantasy which is like all the good things in F/Z done better without all the baggage of being attached to a trash porn VN franchise

Why do you need any knowledge. You seem to think there is any value in the actual lore, characterizations, relationships, or plot. All we should care about is Shiro punching Kirei, and the Waver cameo at the very end. I know that's all I really want out of Heaven's Feel. :p

I would kill for a whole series of cranky sexy Waver which ends with him
meeting Rider again.

Worth watching:
Fate/Zero
UBW episode 0

If you really really like the setting and the world then watch the rest of UBW but keep your expectations low.
