Which developer other than From Soft could make a Bloodborne 2 worthy of its legacy?

Uuh yeah, pretty much no one. Not even From's B Team actually.

Miyazaki or bust. I'd rather not get anything and let the IP left unused forever than get a mediocre new installment.

I wouldn’t touch it wijt a barge pole.

Even Dark souls 2 felt different compared to the rest and that was made by a different internal team

If I were Sony and I couldn't get From to develop Bloodborne 2 I'd just hire Team Ninja to make Nioh 2 or new IP that is more like Souls than Nioh (horror-ish, rather than the feudal Japan)

The backlash from Sony handing the IP to someone else would bring down the internet, unless it was Kojima and Guillermo Del Toro.

Wait, that sounds amazing.....

I highly doubt there will be much criticism if Sony announced a sequel for the Launch of PS5 (approximately five years after the first one), developed by Studio Japan.

I would have rather this than nothing. And I do believe it could be a good game, probably no masterpiece, but good enough to warrant a sequel.

Falcom could do it, I believe in 'em more than almost any other studio. They know how to write story, how to handle lore, how to do amazing boss fights, they do awesome action gameplay, and know how to make interesting monster designs. Plus they have an incredible sound team.

Yeah, good pick, I actually think Falcom could give it a great shot.

I bet Nintendo could do it.

They won't do it. They'd likely never do anything similar. But I believe the developers at Nintendo are talented enough to grasp the appeal of Bloodborne and be able to iterate on it

Capcom probably had the talent, at some point, but I don't think they do anymore. Or if they do, they don't have the freedom to do so.

Platinum... has not made a game outside of their niche that was high enough quality for me to have that kind of faith in them, but they're in third place. Even Vanquish was characteristically "Platinum style." The words "restrained" and "deliberate" don't exist in that company's vocabulary.

Rocksteady could handle the visual side of things, but I don't know if they have what it takes to replicate the level design and combat goodness.

I know it's an unpopular opinion among souls fans but I bet someone could do it and and do it so much better than fromsoft.

I wish that was the case but so far none of the Souls-likes have matched From's games in my experience. Deck13's efforts are a far cry in combat mechanics, lore and level design, Nioh may have equally good or even superior combat but at the same time everything else is subpar in comparison and Platinum Games can't design good levels if their lives depended on it.

Did the op ask a question then say 'no-one'? That's a strange way to start a thread.

For an answer...Eh CDPR? I'm certain they could do the atmosphere and storytelling right, combat would be iffy, but with proper direction, they'd probably pull something off. The real answer of course is 'no-one' as mentioned in the...op.

I don't get what's..."strange" about it?

I asked a question to see what other people think even though i personally was against the idea.I was just curious to see what other people think about it.

Let Bohemia Interactive have a shot at it. Make it PC exclusive and have nearly every key on the keyboard do something, making it impractical to play the game with a controller.

It's just odd. I'd expect you to come up with a decently thought out example instead of 'no-one unless supervision'. It's alien to me to think up hypothetical questions to something you don't really want. Not a slight against you of course, I was just taken aback a little.

I thought i did?
Personaly i think that if it isn't made by From Software then no one else should do it.Not only because it's a very complex game that relied a lot to one man's vision (and his team) but also because i fear that even if the game ends up being good a lot of people will look down upon it just because it's not made by From Software and Miyazaki.

Capcom, Platinum Games or Sony Santa Monica. They did great melee-combat before and have a lot of experience. Maybe even Ninja Theory as long as they don't mess with the art-style. As much as I hate DmC, the combat was good.

why not just leave a masterpiece without ruining it ?? it's bad enough what they did with Dark souls 3, it completely made the series lose it's spark for me

we had 5 soulsborne games in 7 years, 3 of them were masterpieces( Demon's, Dark 1 and Bloodborne), 1 of them was good ( Dark 2) and 1 was a disgrace and a lazy as fuck trash( Dark 3 and it's horrible DLCs)

let the series rest for like 4 or 5 years then we may got a proper sequel

the constant demands of a sequel may make the devs rush and make a shitty game like Garbage souls 3

You mean overwritten.

One that doesn't require the player to fill in huge blanks with whatever rubbish they think up themselves would be a good start. Self Interpretation in plot is fine and all but not when you have to it for 60% of the whole game.

Reading these posts I'm getting more and more greatful for Miyazaki's contribution to Soulsborne.

Give it to Obsidian, so a Soulsborne game can finally have a well made narrative for once

BB has a wonderful narrative, easily my favorite in gaming.

All Obsidian would bring to the table is lots of bugs, clunky combat and a story that is being spat into your face.

Only From who can develop Bloodborne 2. But they NEED to outsource the optimization phase.

As long as it's exclusive to PS4/Pro, it's gonna be plagued with the usual syndromes.

They just don't have the capabilities of delivering a perfect 30fps game on consoles.

Get Team Ninja to do the combat, Nintendo's Metroid Prime team to do the level design and Obsidian for the story. I know mixing team ninja and Nintendo has bad history, but provided we keep a third party in touch of the story, they all have skills. Ni-Oh was not a souls killer, but the combat was good enough. I want a dev with experience in Metroidvania to do the level design so it is nice and intricate, and the Metroid Primes nailed 3D level design, so that team. Obsidian does good lore, so they could operate well in the bounds of traditional Bloodborne storytelling.

Any high quality team can do it if they just follow the principles of these games (level design style, secrets and challenging progression). I wouldn't mind if there were more games with this overall philosophy but with developers that questioned some rules From Software seems to always follow. I would like a more guided, understandable story, for example, or a less limited/farming-dependent co-op feature.
