Do you think we will be able to play as female characters in multiplayer?

That's fine, let me know when the counter arguments show up, unless "sigh" is a counter argument. I'm used to them begging people to leave threads if the discussion wasn't gently fondling FFXV's nethers enough.

I must have missed the posts begging people to leave the thread, but if you consider "Ew, you may have just cracked the code of why this even exists." a good opener to a polemic you and I have much different definitions of the word. It reads like you're taking the piss. Are you now saying that's your earnest take?

[*]- The magic system is also much better. Less flashy than Elemancy, but the offensive spell changing depending on the equipped weapon is pretty cool. Already more versatile than the grenades.

[*]- The ability to heal me and my party members without having to pause and use a menu is amazing.
.

Is healing tied strictly to items still? or are there curative magics?

Seems stupid to tie the multiplayer mode behind the season pass. This could be a big money maker aka GTAV

I know we are still missing options because of it being a beta but the customization in this is already more than I expected from this and I'll be very happy if all those locked options are available in the full thing. Bring on the booty that all the boys from XV were lacking. Time to try out this thing.

L2 + Triangle = Curative magic

L2 + Circle = Offensive magic

There didn't seem to be any items in the game, so magic is the only way now.

They both take MP. The cure spell heals a bit of your HP, but also anyone within a short range of you. It's pretty fast too, but puts you in Stasis quickly.

When someone is in danger, you can't use "rescue" anymore. You just use cure and pick up anyone in the area.

Also, you can now target your teammates, and using the Warpstrike button just warps you next to them to make this easier i suppose.

Also worth mentioning, using the Point Warp will recover only a very small amount of your MP, instead of all of it like in single player. The cover option is actually useful now.

Gaming as a service wasn't a priority during the start of this game development.

I'm sure all FF games from here on out will have shit like this.

Wait, it's just horde mode basically for now? Hopefully the entire map opens up in the final release.

Seems that way, though i've only played a single mission so far.

Here's hoping that we get some actual dungeons/travel missions in the actual release. This could be amazing if so.

I'm not really EXPECTING open-world combat, instanced areas would actually work just fine, and this expansion is going to be covering 10 years worth of events so the sky's the limit with the actual settings and content.

my god.......its pretty obvious this was thought of as more than just a tack on.....it actually seems like plenty of work went into it.

Can't wait to get home and just play the beta......bring on the full version

is it me....even though sunhi is doing a beautiful crop job....it seems like overall picture quality or something was definitely increased. Could be even the hair which seems so much more fluid and alive

Hows frame pacing on the Pro?

Horde mode sounds pretty fun for FFXV. I haven't played the game but I would pick it up for this.

The Road to Old Lestallum mission has you escorting a truck down the road. You warp onto to back and then jump off along the way to fight mobs. Nothing major but it covers a reasonably large area throughout the mission.

if they have more missions of this style......this could honestly be one of the most entertaining final fantasy experiences to date.....especially with this combat

how does magic work? Please tell me its much more fun this time around

I have no doubts this mode is pretty much a testing ground for future titles. FF and maybe other RPG's will have a service model.

Crossing Eden

Hello, my name is Yves Guillemot, Vivendi S.A.'s Employee of the Month!
I'm digging that little detail where they slightly put their head down when their shield blocks damage. Or that may be a really huge coincidence of timing where her head locked back on to the nearest enemy. Either way, forgot how good the animation was in this game.

It's better than base game. It's magic, using MP, instead of grenades. However, in the beta they're as shallow as a puddle - might be just a beta limitation and expanded in the full release, might be all we are going to get, no way to know yet

This thread and Sunhi have me thinking about doing the unthinkable(reinstalling FFXV and grabbing the pass)

Why you no-ing to something that's not complete shit like in the main game?

If it uses MP why did he say they didn't fix magic?

Not being grenades sounds pretty fixed to me

This all sounds fantastic. We finally have a combat loop not reliant on items (which is a major flaw in the main game)

Not entirely sure, but so far...

Healing:
  • - Everyone has a standard cure spell. Takes about 20% MP, heals you and everyone in a small area around you
  • - Equipping "The Oracle's Sigil" gives you a stronger cure. Different animation, different effect, larger range, more healing.
Offensive
  • - Everyone has a standard...poof spell? I'm assuming its Ruin.
  • - Equipping "The Tall's Sigil" removes your curative spell, but changes your offensive spell. Different animation, and the user casts it twice in succession. + Replaces Cure with Aura, which gives you a huge damage buff.
  • - There's a weapon you get from one of the missions (some lightning shuriken). Using offensive magic while it's equipped makes you use a frontal lightning spell.
  • - I've seen someone cast Fire, but i'm not sure how they did it. I'm assuming the same way.
  • - Ruin seems pretty worthless as far as damage goes. But the lighting spell was a hard hitter.
  • - The dagger comes with a passive ability that ends every warpstrike with a cast of Fira.

Defensive
  • - simply holding down the guard button makes them erect the crystal shield.
  • - The color depends on your current MP. (redder hue = closer to stasis, pure blue = full).
  • Not sure if this has anything to do with its strength.
  • - It seems like holding down the shield recovers MP if nothing hits you??
  • - The shield effect is AoE, allies behind you are also shielded.

I'm assuming gear will play a big part in your spells.

EDIT:

Oh, wow. Hold the phone:

- When you equip "The Tall's Sigil" (which removes your cure spell), it's instead replaced with "Aura", which takes all of your MP away, but gives you a strength buff. It doubled my damage output.

If it uses MP why did he say they didn't fix magic?

Pretty good post about some of the changes here, and the one above me too from him. :p

The combat system changes to this beta are pretty extensive. The main game would absolutely be 100x better adopting these changes.

  • - I have no clue why they removed Airstep from the royal arms in the main game. But since the Comrade characters can infinite airstep with the Katana / Shurikens, they already play more smoothly than Noctis currently does.
  • - I was expecting the animations to be the same as Noctis', but the comrade characters are also way more responsive with their weapons and cancels than Noctis.
  • - The magic system is also much better. Less flashy than Elemancy, but the offensive spell changing depending on the equipped weapon is pretty cool. Already more versatile than the grenades.
  • - The ability to heal me and my party members without having to pause and use a menu is amazing.
  • - The weapons and their special abilities are awesome. Very PSO-esque vibe i'm getting here. Everything feels somewhat unique.
  • - The "Sigil" system is pretty cool, a neat replacement for Ascension i think if it gets fleshed out.

Overally, pretty good changes. Beta is beta and this seems like a early test version of the expansion unlike other betas like 1-2 months out from the game, so I'm sure they'll expand on it with more spells and such in the long run.
