So what's on your wish list for Animal Crossing on the Switch?

I never played the newer ones much after the Gamecube version, did they ever add in a suitable replacement for NES games? I know there's no way they'd bring those back, but I'd like it if they had something at least on the level of those Splatoon mini-games.

More complex AI would be great so that you can actually feel like you are getting to know the other villagers. In my experience the villagers in New Leaf were all just different variations of quirky with simple requests as kind of friendship tasks.

I want more objects to have interactive features. You plunk down a pool table, you (and your friends) can play a basic game of pool. Buy an RC car, you can drive it around, maybe even outside of your house. Obviously not everything can get this treatment, but it would make collecting things cooler.

Wait WHAT

That was DEFINITELY not in the game when I played it. I'm guessing the Amiibo update added it?

Yep. You just need to get an ingame 3DS, then you can play it when you want. It has full modes, it's a proper little Puzzle League within Animal Crossing. You also earn Puzzle League themed furniture.

The stuff you get for in your house to be interactible in a meaningful way, growing crops and vegetables and fish serving a purpose besides pawning everything, make me able to prepare it in my kitchen for example.

No degrading grass.
I forgot this was a thing. This so much. Nintendo, don't even think of implementing this shit. Please.

And while you are at it, remove the hour-long cutscene when someone visits you. It should be instant.

Bigger map, local coop, skip dialog in multiple encounters, longer opening-hours (let me be in charge of the opening-time in my city), some kind of exploration elements, maybe some hidden areas near the city or inside (maybe some underground shit).

I think I could come up with infinite things, but stuff I can think of right now is I want relationships with villagers being able to move in with you, and on the flipside villagers being able to fall in love with each other and you helping them get together. In general I want more fun and interesting characters and households with more than one villager, so you could have families with kid villagers, roomies etc. You could have a bunch of students living in a collective together, taking the train to college on weekdays and staying up late at night, or a romantic couple who always move around together for example.

Also, more engaging fishing, free camera control and seamless transitions when going inside buildings. In general there's too much loading and listening to the same dialogue over and over again. I want a "cut to the chase"-button after the first time you've listened to it.

This is basically the biggest thing I want. There shouldn't be any stopping gameplay in a town to let someone in or out. They should just get off the train with no fuss.

I mean, if we could get the soundtracks of the older games mixed in I'd be really happy. Every day it chooses either AC, WW/CF, NL, or the new soundtrack, and it just cycles through that game's hourly soundtrack. It'd be a cool way to mix things up for people who play at the same time every day like I did with WW and NL.

Also I don't wanna be forced to be mayor again. Having control of city projects is cool and all but I think it'd be cooler if you could run for mayor instead, and if you're a neglectful leader a different villager can become mayor in your absence.

I'd like them to use the power of Unreal Engine 4 to deliver sub-surface scattering, model tessellation and physically based rendering for the most hyper-realistic looking Animal Crossing experience so far.

Or like, I dunno, maybe event planning? You could throw parties for the villagers/invite your friends over.

I'd love to see an arcade room open up among the stores that the player can operate to make Bells. Games can be purchased/gifted/unlocked. Arcade games are of course playable and consist mainly of SNES and NES titles.

No Amiibo bullshit.

exploit me with hundreds of amiibo card unlockables

You should be able to select what hours should the stores open/close. If I am able to play the game only at nights, with the current system I am screwed.

The rest of the game seemed good to me. Well I haven't played any other AC this much!

Having to read the same dialogue every time I want to buy something or have a fossil inspected is so irritating. An option to skip would be great.

I want an (online) town with my friends.
Just our houses and we can Farm things offline on the go and then bring it to our big town. Also Fossils/collectibles and stuff, that would be sooo coooool! <3_<3

Just give me anything and i'll sink 1000s of hours into it all over again.

New Leaf is possibly my favourite game of all time!

For it to be a radical upgrade from New Leaf and to be supported for a long time like Splatoon. Also tons of QOL upgrades related to player customization and online play, with no annoying bullshit like degradable grass.

Wild World and New Leaf were absolute monsters in sales so I would have to hope we see a new game soon. The decision to not do a mainline game on Wii U and instead focus on spinoffs and amiibos was a strange one, especially when considering that Animal Crossing is probably the most successful IP out of EAD not part of the big three. (Mario, Kart, and Zelda)

For Mr. Resetti to fuck off. If you knew I didn't save it why didn't you just save for me? :(

He only appears if you want him to appear.

If you never build his centre he'll never bother you.

But do you really want Mr Resetti to be unemployed?

New Leaf got supported with extra downloadable items for sooooo long. And then when it seemed to stop, boom, free huge "Welcome amiibo" update.

And for people who hate the notion of amiibo locking things away, it's worth noting that Animal Crossing being what it is means you only need to know someone who had an amiibo and you can visit them to nab stuff. The GAF OT had so much activity when this update hit, with people organising online meetups all over again. It was pretty awesome.

For Phoebe to return.

How could you leave me? We were BFFs. We joked, shared clothes, admired each other's furniture. You made me laugh like no other villager could. Then, one day, you just... left. Even though I talked to you at every opportunity. (...okay, maybe that's why you left.)

all alone I sit and wonder why yi-yi-yi

oh, why, you left meeeee

oh phoebeeeee

For me, AC was supposed to be relaxing, and running around checking that your favorite villagers didn't leave was distinctly less so. Catching freakin' fish was less stressful. Of course, the annoying villagers never, ever think about moving out, whatsoever. After Phoebe left, it was never the same. I didn't have the heart to quite go back after that.

Yeah, if I have a true wish, it's for the hold once and own it forever (in the catalogue) feature not to disappear.

I just hope they keep the Amiibo functions, I want fun minigame and being able to move my favourite villagers back in using the cards.

Maybe a city would be fun. A town in the sky? A town in any region you want? (Desert, Antartica, urban, grassy fields)? I'm not a huge fan of relationships because I feel like it'd follow the same fate as Tomodachi Life being heterosexual only.

Skin colours are an absolute requirement though. Maybe being able to pick your face without the weird questionnaires.

Please keep the cross dressing / non-gendered clothes, it was a lovely addition.

Really not happening. And honestly, the series has moved on way past the point where we need NES games as "something to do". Its very much its own thing now.
More AC redone games like Panel de Pon would be nice. A lot of the NES Black Box games could be remade this way pretty easily (Baseball, Balloon Fight, Excitebike, Urban Champion, etc).

Miitopia removed gender relationships for Miis, anyone can become soulmates with anyone else. It's lovely.

Okay this increases my confidence, I haven't payed attention to 3DS games since I stopped using my 3Ds, that sounds so good.

Would have thought including a full fledged version of Puzzle League would have stopped all the NES game comments, but nope. :/

Do people want a new Animal Crossing or the world's slowest ROM loader?

I'd be happy with a New Leaf style Animal Crossing on Switch, but with a few tweaks.

I'd improve the town center area, and allow improvements to all stores (not just Nookingtons) by completing certain tasks/events. The idea of the plaza is a good idea, i'd improve this slightly by putting the town hall near it. Some towns, it's far away. I'd also expand it with notices for events popping up when one is due. I know this is on the notice board, but would be more sensible moving it here.

I read in here about more townsfolk and an improved variety of animals. This would be an idea, i'd also put in place a feature where you can semi-permanently prevent 1 or two residents from moving away.

Oh yeah, simple request. If PWP are back (assuming they don't just let us place furniture outside like in HHD), please let us place them next to things/other PWPs.

Robin64

Don't make PWPs so hard to unlock. Over 500 hours on my New Leaf save and I never got the police station. (I know about the ocean trick, I am not doing that)

Also people complaining about Mr Resetti clearly didn't even play New Leaf. Which is a shame, because New Leaf (and especially Welcome amiibo) was a massive jump from Wild World/City Folk.

I'm really all about the quality of life improvements.

- Allow us to choose exactly where a new villager will move in. Like, have Isabelle say "oh, someone is moving into town tomorrow and as mayor you get to decide where they can build their house!". No more worrying that a new villager will have moved in right on top of your hybrid flower plantation please!

- Easier placing of PWPs (an interface such as the HHD decorating), preferably with less limitations to how and where they can be placed.

- Bigger bag and inventory space. Amiiboo update added a good bunch of intentory space but a Switch AC should still have a good deal more. Bag doesn't need a huge upgrade (I think the limitation adds something to the gameplay), but for example making the tools not take up bag space would be nice.

- Ways to refurbish multiple items at once

- Generally make it easier to just skip dialogues

- More landscaping options: maybe add a PWP called "Landscaping Inc." that unlocks the ability to remove rocks and create/move/remove ponds, just generally give us way to reshape the map.

- Higher limit to the amount of PWPs in a town. It feels very restrictive right now.

- More online connectivity and easier/faster traveling and interacting with others.

- I'd prefer it if PWPs weren't locked behind random Villager requests. Or at least maybe let us choose a prefererred "theme" for our town and increase the probability of getting those requests, something that makes it easier.

- Let us choose how to expand the house. Like having a 5-story building without side-rooms, or just a flat 1-floor house with lots of rooms. Give us a yard to decorate as well.

- Local co-op would be amazing. I really, really want that.

Being able to live in the city or the town as other users have said would be amazing. Also more places to visit outside of the town.

I really really hope the Amiibo cards will work with the Switch version of the game whenever it comes out. I also hope they make visiting towns seamless when using a local connection. More ordinances would also be great. As well as being able to designate where houses can be placed in the town (I've always wished you could set up a residential area). I'd also be down for the town to increase in size and maybe allow more neighbors and/or stores.

Oh yeah! And break ups, adultery, one night stands, D R A M A!

It's about time stores were open 24 hours a day. The ordinances are a good step.

I didn't mind the time constraints. Let's not bork Nintendo's idyllic little anthropomorphic village as much as we have our world. As long as the clock isn't running in real time I don't mind using the wait to complete other tasks.

*Proceeds to pull weeds for 8 in-game days straight.*

Ask me about the GAF Notebook
What about a shop selling some outdoor gear?

They could sell some outdoor gear and then have some extra spots to go to. Like a mountain to climb or scuba/snorkle gear to get into the water.

You could also use that gear to find new stuff for the museum. Rare stuff from the ocean depths. Things like that.
