Publix |OT| Where subs are a pleasure

so since we're all in the FL state of emergency thread talking about publix anyway, here's a thread to highlight:

- aforementioned subs
- chicken
- tea
- a grocery store where their own namebrand stuff is actually legit
- customer service that would prolly let you return half a donut (it's crazy)

so yeah, OT GAF dumps on my homestate sometimes (and honestly, northern FL deserves it) but Publix is the goods. let's celebrate it here!

ps anyone else remember their green coupon rewards program in the day? or like that baller restaurant they had up on US-1 not far from the falls in the 90's, i swear im not making that shit up

Miami native, but my home and heart are in Chicago now. I miss very little about Florida, but Publix definitely qualifies. That chicken tender sub isn't even that special, but they do it a certain way, and that way is delicious.

Also, everyone who grew up in Florida has been in the staff room at a Publix, because all of us either worked there or were friends with people who worked there.

The closest place to me to buy food is Publix. It's also the only place I know of where I can buy whole flax seeds. Was just there earlier today.

Hi IrishNinja, good to see you again :)

Shout-out to their ever-expanding Greenwise section, not because I care that much about organic foods, but because it has a great collection of delicious lesser-known brands and food products for a reasonable price.

Why settle for boring Tostitos salsa when they've got a whole row of weird salsas I can try? I've discovered so many new brands this way. Love it.

for real, i was just saying how after hurricane andrew when people were struggling down south, the old cutler towne center publix had their employees show up to give out water, perishables & the like, that was awesome.

any homeless shelters out there too - Miami Rescue Mission, Camillu's House - you always see their logo sponsoring. the retired heirress is fucking us up with medical marijuana but that aside, i really like supporting them...one of the few places out here i still see entry level employees work their way up to a career sometimes.

also, they're well out of water by now but the liquor store's open till 10 so i'm bout to go get some more hurricane supplies ya'll

I don't know what it is about Publix but they have the best customer service of any grocery store I've ever been in. Everyone is always so pleasant and helpful. Is it just great training programs? What is it? Because the staff at theKroger near me is like night and day compared to Publix.

Boars head turkey sub is good.
Chic tender sub is delish.

Go there for lunch every now and then, especially if a sub I like is on sale.

i totally bagged & did stock there in the mid-90s and they'd have to call me over the intercom cause i'd be in the backroom reading either diehard gamefan or the source...ah, high school

I really like some of their homemade sides as well, such as red potato salad, BBQ baked beans and mac salad.

Also the rotisserie chicken is a lifesaver I use it in all kind of recipes.

EDIT: also worked at Public in the mid 90's

Sometimes I'll walk into a Publix with a specific sub in mind, but then they're selling a whole for $5, so I get that instead. Amazing. Fantastic.

Never been there but I have a friend who lives in Florida and she is always bringing it up, and rubbing in the fact that I've never been there.

Is it really all that people say it is?

Recently moved from Michigan to Tennessee, and never been. One right next to my office. Great if I forgot my lunch to pop in real quick. Not too expensive for what you're getting either.

I hear they treat their employees well. Which is cool.

like i'm always bummed when any place rolls out the not-so-subtle anti union video during training, but i will say that giving you stock options after working there a bit is a decent approach
