Geeze...thank god I don't want to watch those type of show now. I guess my one is from Divergence Eve when one of the character got the bad ending of her life. Not too keen to remember about this now.

Basically that. The violence isn't unexpected but watching a child suffer like that is simply difficult to watch.

Never thought they'd actually get back to Kobayashi's repressed sense of unhappiness like that. Figured it was just a gag to kick things off. Also appreciated how thematically in line the skits were with the main plot this episode. They're probably normally that way but I felt it really stood out this time.

I was hoping the anime would finally become a high risk high stakes anime but it seems unable to do that. I would think itd make more sense to cause all the injury and hurt to Reg and eventually leave her with a severely broken or even immobile Reg for the story, cause its not like Riko, the main character would die or succumb to something truly tragic.

Mugaro should not have died like that, he could have came back and let Alessand think that he had killed him. Everyone has already grieved before, even Azazel,

I really wish writers would understand that making the main character too stupid is just as bad as making them too smart, if not worse.
Made in Abyss and Little Witch Academia could have severely benefited from that knowledge.

Altair Record of Battles Episode 9
The brothers in battle was actually good, and then the courtyard scene with Mahmut and co was actually exciting, I didnt think that was how they would go through with it, but it was fun.
I wish the debate scene was a bit longer, it was intense too.

Is he the final boss?? Still the whole thing with experimenting on these dead townsfolk and killing them over and over to assess shota vikto reactions was cruel and awful. I hope present vikto does something.

By the way, Riko's VA did a great job. A great job at making me feel like shit. She really nailed every aspect of that performance.
The scene itself was really well done, I thought. Reg had a great performance too.
However it suffers in the context of the rest of the story. The fact that Riko is so useless, and the fact that the show hasn't really done enough to make me care about her at all lessens the impact. The fact that Riko
didn't lose the hand
It is still impactful because she's a little kid, and they really went all in. But if Riko was a better character, that moment would have been elevated.
Still a good show, but the brain-dead MC puts a damper on things.

And, as episode 10 shows, they needn't be written as bumbling idiots to get into trouble becauseSHOCKING NEWSthey venture through a monstrously dangerous place and are in way over their heads. It's so infuriating when our characters are stuck in that sort of world and the writers still can't come up with proper circumstances for shit to go down.
Well, episode 9 was largely anime-original so I hope it won't happen again.
I certainly appreciated that today's episode's encounter overwhelmed them because it showed unprecedented intelligence and attributes/strength. Riko and Reg cannot even really be blamed it snuck up on them, given its apparently intelligent approach and the steamy location.

I'm actually walking Shinsekai Yori now. I'd say it's enjoyable, and above mediocre in terms of production values and such, but it feels sort of weird. The MC's motivations sometimes felt somewhat incoherent, or "off" (As in, didn't flow very smoothly.). Ie; The MC seemed to care very much about something, and then later on, a different character adopted that stance, and the MC tried to talk them out of it.
And the, uh, "intimate" scenes..
