Florida Gov. Declares State Of Emergency Over Hurricane Irma (Up: clean-up begins)

The roof of my brother's house collapsed ( everyone is okay, evaced to shelters yesterday or otherwise not injured during the collapse ( still getting details about this bit ). I'm just thankful there were no casualties.
Man that’s crazy. Where is the house at if you don’t mind me asking??

Friend just live videoed from his apartment off 27 and 200. Power is still on just flickering occasionally. Winds are bad.

Yeah, my brother is still in Belleview. Last I heard his power was on but flickering and cable was in and out. They already had a big tree go down in the back yard and the worst is still to come.

The eye should be over my house in about 30 minutes. Lost power again but it was only out briefly. Sounds like a herd of elephants stampeding outside and somehow it's supposed to be worse here shortly.

...and that, kids, was the first time I sucked a dick for crack
Had a flicker again.

And a massive wind burst. :|

Edit: Windermere area, as mentioned.

I wonder where Jim Cantore is. I've been watching The Weather Channel off and on all day and haven't seen him yet.

In case there was any doubt Josh Thomas of TheBitBlock wasn't a racist piece of shit:

Instead of expressing sympathy for anyone affected by the hurricane, he instead tweets about how disgusting some people are, who just happen to be black. Yeah, because looting's the biggest problem Florida faces right now

Sorry of this is a bit OT, it just pissed me off so much I had to share since he still (unfortunately) has a sizeable following

Made it through fine at my parents in fish hawk. Didn't lose power either. Interested to see how my apartment is. Eye went right over my sister in Lakeland off of county line and SR60. House is good but her fence flew away. Counting ourselves lucky. Stay safe everyone

GAF, I have had the worst week and a half of my life.

My mom passed away from liver failure on August 31st in Bradenton Florida. I was there with her for a few days with my aunt before she died. My brother flew in the next day. We took some time to go drive down to Miami and the Keys to get away and drink a lot that weekend before the track of Irma was narrowed down. We stayed in Miami after we drove back from Key West and then back to Bradenton. My brother flew back to Chicago while my aunt and I tried to drive back to Chicago.

From Bradenton, our route ended up ---> Wesley Chapel FL ---> Gainesville ---> Tallahassee ---> Dothan Alabama ---> (because driving on I-75 to Atlanta was going to be a nightmare so we went west into the panhandle ) then Montgomery ---> Birmingham ---> Huntsville ---> Nashville Tenn. By then after two days on the road we couldn't drive anymore and decided to fly from Nashville to Chicago. I got home to Gurnee IL last night and slept. This evening everything started really hitting me hard -- been crying so much and, in my heart, I just can't understand anything.. My mom passing away and the exhaustion of trying to get back home has been so awful.

Florida-GAF, I hope you all stay safe and don't feel alone. I know what it's like to feel alone. May we all rebuild our lives in whatever way we need to and let us appreciate those people we have in our lives who we love, because one day they are gone.

Here in Palm Harbor. Power finally went out about 30min ago. Intense tropical storm winds with Hurricane gusts..

It's an amazing thing to experience. Not diminishing the brutality or horror of it. However to see a hurricane once again in person, hear the sounds, and watch the spectacle of mother nature versus man made structures and devices is truly a sight to see. Transformers blowing add the fireworks to all this.

Stay safe everyone.

How is it racist to be disgusted with looters? Or are there more tweets?

E: Oh, I guess you mean he ReTweets that RightVoice account?

He flirts way too close to that line of "is he racist or not" way too often for him not to be.

Examples:

It's mostly that (a) looters are a very minor thing at the moment while the storm is still actively raging across most of the state which means he hand picked this particular thing to talk about and (b) he has a long extensive history of being a major racist asshole.

Drinking up my malt beer and might make myself a sandwich. No sleep with how strong the wind is outside. I hope power comes back fast. Lots of food in the fridge that I don't want ruined and can't open it up often in fear of losing the cold.

Jeez. Sorry you've had to go through all of that so soon. Take a deep breath for now, and know that you're right, you're not alone

I do not like how slow this is moving. It was originally supposed to start around 1130. It's 105 and it's getting to it's strongest by me. (Celebration)

Man how long should I expect to be without power?Ours went out at about 6pm, it's now 1am. I can't fucking sleep in this heat, and there's nothing to do but lay here in the dark. I sound selfish, but I'm starting to get annoyed.

Really? Opening up the fridge raises the temperature?

Cell Signal seems to be coming back intermittently, so I'll keep it short.

My AC broke 4 hours from the storm from what it seems to be brownouts. Everything seems to be fine down here in South Miami, my fences were broken so I have to repair that but it seems that I took little damage compared to others.

The Power is still out, but my dad who lives 5 minutes away says his just came back so I'm expecting it to return soon.

My condolences on your mothers passing. I'm glad you got home safe.

Been out of power since 8:30ish near Maitland. This shit is terrifying right now. I fucking hate hurricanes and this bitch Irma. Wish I could have convinced my wife to let us go to NOLA instead of staying.

Could be days to a week or more depending on your provider.

Such a weird thing. My employer needs me to be here during the approach, actual storm, and until we get cleared to leave. They let me bring my dog and family and, really, I'm so thankful. This is the safest structure in town. They've got 4 generators and two sealed Wells. Power was out literally seconds beforea generator kicked on.

I'm typing this as my buddy sleeps in our shared office. My mom and kids are in another building on campus and my girlfriend is 20 miles away with her employer.

This is the Citrus County area. My buddy and I went out back around eleven pm to check it out and it seemed like a bad storm but nothing much else. I know it's foolish to get my hopes up. I'm going on 3 straight days at the office and while I've got my Switch and phone, and everyone is safe, I keep hoping my home is still gonna be around.

I don't want to have to find a new place and constantly having to be here at the office running things.
Ugh. Damn storm. 30 years here in Florida and I've never really had to go through one before. I'm anxious about waking up tomorrow, if I can get back to sleep, and seeing the whole damned town is like freaking scorched pile of bones and ashes. Not literally, of course, but seeing this town I love so much all fucked up. That's gonna hurt.

I want to be able to go home and snuggle in bed with the dog and girlfriend but, hell, I don't even know if we have a home anymore. I wish I'd thought to set up a camera somehow.
