...But I really should get round to playing Yakuza 5 before 6 comes out.

Depent have you already complete 3 and 4 ? if not i having a hard time to recommend to just play 5, thing will be confusing as hell. I know some here will tell you to do it, Y5 have a much bigger impact if you have played Y4, also Y4 is have a really good link with Y1. IF you really want to skip 3,you can but i mean it got a great Haruka story progression and make a good base for future Tojo Clan member for futher game. my 2 cent.

Finished 4, was my first game in the series, but despite having bought 5 I felt I needed a break and just never got around to playing it since. Not even bought 3, at this point I might just wait for a hopeful PS4 port.

Damn, the Debolah club looks like some untextured map someone made 2 minutes before shipping the last build of the game lol

The shiny floor reflection's what messes with my head there. It's like the room extends to infinity in a parallel universe.

Just finished it. Didn't bother with any side stuff and stuck to main story (otherwise I'd never get through my backlog)

Although I didn't find the story as good as Yakuza Zero, was still a great game. Will be picking up number 2 remake obviously.

How does story in 2 compare?

The story in 2 is arguably the best in the series.

0 really ranks at the top ? I actually preferred Kiwami's story more.

Yeah 0 is the undisputed winner for me as well, and it's usually top three for most fans. Actually 1/Kiwami is usually at the bottom of everyone's list haha, I like it myself but I find all the other games' better as well.

I think 1/Kiwami has a great story, but I prefer the more long-winded way 0 is told. Everything in 1 is very abrupt and you move from thing to thing way more quickly than I like.

So, I'm sure I'm missing the obvious, but how do I hit Godspeed Yoko?

I've been trying to get behind her in Rush Style, but I can't make it work. I haven't had a hard time winning fights in Normal, but I'm not landing shit.

GAF pls help

I tried to finish the quest without getting the magazine, but the game wouldn't let me. They force you to make Kiryu look like a creep. :(

Lol, he is such a creeper. Not only buying naughty magazines for young children, but also playing a card game that only 8-10 year old kids play. At least pocket racer has both adults and children enjoying it. No adult enjoys the stupid rock, paper, scissors bug game.

Only perverted adults would focus on the bug women instead of the depth and joy of sharing and making friends that are part of Mesuking, though.

True, Kiryu shares his deep knowledge of friendship and sportsmanship to the kids. It's like an episode of Pokemon lol.

I actually hate Mesuking; I find it repulsive.

I quoted Kiryu the other day.

I was trying to build some sort of relationship with someone but it kept seeming like they were cool but then giving me the cold shoulder. So I decided to just leave them alone and all of a sudden they're talking to me again.

And I go, "haha, I can never get a read on you..."

and I thought of saying that at that particular moment, because of Kiryu. This game influences my life

10/10 Climax Proving Grounds complete, blood boiling!

PG9 tip: Get some Dragon Heat moves in early to build up your health from 0, from there it’s not too difficult.

Man, I was just checking out some of the PS2 english dub scenes now that I'm done with Kiwami and even for it's time, it's not a good dub.

I wonder why they even...botheredtohave...them talk like...this, when the lip sync is still complet...ly off.

Ok, I played this game, but fuck.

I completely forgot how bad this was. Even Mark Hamill as Majima is horrible. The font is terrible too.

So, I'm sure I'm missing the obvious, but how do I hit Godspeed Yoko?

I just attacked her normally and shit eventually hit. I also used Rush.

Finished the game with around 85% completion. I will never be able to complete a Yakuza game 100% because I absolutely just do not understand how to play Majhong, and learning it is such a chore.

But I feel pretty satisfied, about 50 hours or so worth of play. Majima Everywhere system is awesome in theory, but became so tedious in the end due to how long it takes to beat him and how often he kept showing up. Yakuza 1 also shows it's cracks in being the worst of the Yakuza stories easily, I still love the game, but it's definitely a remake of a PS2 game.

There's a severe lack of really hype moments in this game, and what is there kinda flubs it's landing. The final boss is about the only really "cool" moment in the game, where other Yakuza titles are just jam packed with hype things going on and crazy twists. The storytelling also genuinely suffers too much from "The bad guy has you with a gun to you, but they are stalling or bad at aiming." which is a trope that really irks me.

I'm excited for Yakuza 6 and Kiwami 2, but after this and 0 so soon after one another I'm ready for a Yakuza break for a bit.

This is my life with the Yakuza series. I'm really happy this is never a pre-requirement for Amon fight or i would be really mad. Yeah i usualy get every yakuza game at 85-90% (exception the original that i have 100% complete it), it's going to be impossible for me to get patinum trophy ( i heard it was possible in 6 , someone can confirm me this ?). But i'm sure that 98% of yakuza player never touch majong anaway....

All this Mahjong talk makes me sad :( Its such an awesome mini game once you get used to it. Then again, it took me like 5 years on and off learning it from playing Yakuza. Once it clicks your set for life! I only worry that one day they'll throw a harder Shogi requirement out there that I can't do. Then again, maybe that'd get me learning Shogi properly like Mahjong...

Anyway, back to your Yakuza 6 point - its dead easy to 100%. Most of the trophies are just for playing stuff and not mastering them, I don't believe there is any Mahjong centric trophy (at least not a hard one if there is) and the completion list trophy is reduced to "clear 100 items in the completion list" and there is way over 100 items on the completion list to finish. Most people will get that trophy just by playing the game to completion (unless you only do the story). Heck, even Amon's requirements are way relaxed - you just have to clear 2 side stories to unlock his boss fight, as opposed to doing all of them this time (though you'd be mad to try taking him on early in the game!)

And finally, you can cheese the Legend trophy on 6 just by keeping a game save at the final boss, reloading it after you finish the game and then up the difficulty. Job done, trophy unlocked! Its by far the easiest plat the series has, and probably the second quickest after the PS3 HD release of Yakuza 1 (well, in theory at least).

Sounds like heaven to be honest. xD

In terms of the completion list, I guess it is. I for one enjoy doing absolutely everything on the game but its good for those that want to get trophies without doing all the mini games while I still have tons to do if I want to clear the completion list for my own satisfaction. Please both parties then!

Be interesting to see what the remake of 2 does in terms of completion list and Amon requirements. As 2 required you to do quite a bit to unlock the Amon battles, and with 6 making things easier I'm wondering if they'll ease up on the requirements.

Maybe I'm strange, but I always wished the Yakuza titles would keep all of the entertainment completely optional and separate from actual completion. There are just so many different and varied activities, it's very likely most people will not enjoy, understand or care about a couple of them. I don't mind unlocking more content within the mini-games by playing those specific mini-games, or earning money/equipment from them. But it always felt a little bit like they were purposefully padding their games completion percentage numbers by forcing main game content and completion numbers to be tied to those mini games. I'm no game designer so I won't say I'm right, and they're wrong, but I feel like there has to be a better way that feels less like forced padding and more like "I'll do this because I genuinely find it fun to".

I always thought a good compromise would maybe be having it so that they gave the option of picking a small number of your favorite mini games, and keeping unlocks consistent no matter which ones you picked. So instead of needing to complete ALL mini games to earn every bit of SP for each one and getting 100% completion that way, you just need to "complete" maybe 5 of them based on which you like most to earn the max SP needed from entertainment.

I actually hate Mesuking; I find it repulsive.

While I still find it weird that they transformed the women's underground fighting in zero to this, the Rock/Paper/Scissors system probably made it easy to change over to Mesuking, which is 100% just a oddly converted version of Mushiking https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mushiking:_The_King_of_Beetles which I learned about recently. I mean it's still weird but it makes more sense to me now.

I literally learned to play it from Yakuza 0 and I actually rather like it. I found the biggest barrier being the symbols and various wins you can get etc. I sped through it in Kiwami thanks to 0, and I should have, 0 took me hours...
