Ain't gonna read this shit, but a reminder that the WW leak wasn't received that warmly here either and the movie turned out pretty good still so it's all in the execution here.

It's the first team up movie at the end of the day, it's just an excuse to set the team up and be a crowd pleaser so y'all being like meh generic, and Marvel rip off really sound like you don't know what the fuck you want from this lmao.

The difference is WW was done by a competent director with a decent film record. And didn't have 30-40 Million worth of reshoots with a different director.

The original cut of JL from what people who saw it in early screenings said it was unwatchable.

And going by some of the beats in the description of this cut some of that is still in there.

That said, this is just describing the set pieces. Against my better judgement, I hope the character arcs and storyline progression surprise me.

It's something I've thought about a lot but I think it mainly comes from up top. These jobs have a lot of hand-wringing and focus testing and script passes and by the end it's no one's vision.

Meh, DC's killing it with their comics, animated movies/cartoons, and video games right now - so it's not like we're starved for good content with their characters. Their TV work is all over the fucking place and the movies have been bummers (the glaring exception being Wonder Woman), but overall there's plenty of good stuff if you're a DC fan - it's just not in the films right now.

Literally every revisiting of an origin by someone that isn't the original creator is fan fic. The first Avengers movie is fan fic. Every revered Batman comic for decades has been fan fic.

Honestly, it's all in the execution for the most part. Most superhero movies have pretty dumb plots that sound especially dumb on paper. This is certainly no exception, and there are reasons to worry about the execution too, but I can't imagine anyone actually having their opinion on the film swayed by reading this.

Well the difference with Avengers is that I actually do give a damn about the characters. Besides Wonderwoman, I don’t care for any other character in Justice League. Contrast that with Cap, Tony, Thor, Black Widow, etc. I’ve spent time getting to know these characters, and I liked what I saw.

I’ve seen Supes in two films and I hated him. I’ve seen Batfleck, and I’m indifferent to him. I was originally meh on Wonderwoman, but her individual film sold me on her. Flash, Aquman, and Cyborg are unknowns. Far too many unknowns thrown together in one film, plus returnees that I don’t like.

Considering the reaction here to leaks from the Wonder Woman (specifically the scene on th boat with her and Steve talking about sex) versus the reception to the film itself, this is extremely true.

Any beloved movie can be summarized poorly in a leak like this. Not to say I in any way expect JL to be "beloved" (or anything close), but plot dumps like this are fucking meaningless when separated from the actual film itself.

I could write up a summary of Lord of the Rings and describe as "Sauron is killed by the king cutting off his finger with a broken sword. Sauron explodes. Gandalf and Bilbo start smoking weed, and Gandalf makes a boat with the weed smoke."

Guardians of The Galaxy characters were unknowns even more than the Justice League characters though.

You don't necessarily need solo movies before the teamups (even though I wish there were ones for Rocket & Groot - and am still hoping they actually do one on their origins).

Then even after seeing it and the second film I don't really care for those like Drax at all and Starlord to a certain extent (Gamora is ok I guess) so I mostly just watch them for Rocket and Groot. So people can watch Justice League for one or two characters too.

Pretty good point. I'm more annoyed at the description of some of the lines here though. There's a couple moments involving superman that sound awful

The rest sounds like a standard Avengers flick with the dc roster tho tbh. I think audiences will like it more than BvS
