Xenoblade coming to the U.S. via Gamestop Exclusive (also avail on Nintendo.com)

If this is real, Gamestop's perception among gamers is probably going to change dramatically - ESPECIALLY if they consider doing things like this for similarly-stuck overseas import games.

Thank you, Nintendo!

This was great news to wake up to. I had held off on importing mostly due to not having a huge amount of disposable income at the moment, but now I know that I can just get the game in the US and pop it into my Wii. This and Type 0 confirmation have made this an awesome week.

So is this more "Teen boy embarks on a quest to save the planet" JRPGs or do they skip that formula for once?

Also, no joke - you people better buy the SHIT out of this game.

If they went out of their way to do this, and it still bombs, you know how companies are going to think of the result.

Fucking BUY IT.

the praise alone on GAF has me hyped for this game. shit, I don't even own a Wii. Does anyone think the console will be $99 by the time this gets a NA release?

Will bomb like Chibi Robo PP, and no more RPGs from NoA ever again.

Such a silly concept. I bought the first Chibi Robo but not many people did. A niche game on the Gamecube with a sequel on the DS that is only sold at Wal-Mart where essentially no gamer buys their games? The comparison is not valid.

yo Gamestop haterz, you don't need to worry, Chulip started out as a Gamestop exclusive too but now you can pick it up at Amazon. all you gotta do is just wait a couple years.

It could be an exclusive at the store. Wasn't Chibi Robo: Park Patrol a Wal-Mart exclusive?

Yeah, Nintendo made Chibi Robo an exclusive for that retailer. It's pathetic excuse for choosing Walmart was how the game has an environmental theme and Wal-Mart is known for its "strong environmental program and social giving campaign."

So basically NOA's releasing the game but making it a dick move by limiting it only to GameStop. Nice one, Reggie. What's your beef with Monolith Soft anyway?

Yeah, Nintendo made Chibi Robo an exclusive for that retailer. So basically NOA's biting its tongue in attempt to please fans (even though it is long overdue) but is sending Xenoblade off to die at retail. Doubt we'll get any commercials or decent advertising. You know, the same thing they did with Chibi Robo.

And then they'll use it as a basis for not bringing over any of their other grand scale RPGs. The same thing they did with Chibi-Robo 3.

That belongs to Lost Odyssey, but second place isn't that bad. Also, there are tons of rpgs this gen, but mostly on handhelds.

Yeah, that is true (about the handhelds part), though a lot of major franchises from the PS1 and PS2 era have had basically little to no representation this gen, Wild Arms, Grandia, Shadow Hearts, SMT, Suikoden, etc.

Electroplankton was a GameStop exclusive in Canada, and Nintendo.com store exclusive in the US.

The only worrying thing is the likelihood that the boxart will feature a lot of printed on Gamestop *exclusive* and *limited release* banners.

Wish there was an easy way to convert my save in the PAL version to the US version :/

That doesn't affect the game disc from slipping gently into the hungry slit of an unmodded Wii and basking us in the warm glow of greatness.

Without spoiling too much, the bulk of the game (only played like 60 hours so far) is actually more of a revenge plot than anything else.

My patience paid off! Will definitely be getting this and I don't give a damn if it's a GameStop exclusive
