Capcom Announces Street Fighter x Tekken Live Reality Show "Cross Assault"

I enjoy watching matches between top players. I have zero interest in the drama and personalities. I don't plan to watch this event based on what has been revealed thus far.

Totally fine, but your interests are already covered. This, I believe, has a different purpose.

I'd like to see people not already all over streams and getting tourney attention. I'm most interested in the idea of taking an average joe non-tourney fighting game player and seeing how he/she improves with top coaching, not yet another battle of the fighting game pros in their closed circle we can see anytime. This should be a chance to show how one can become more skilled and evolve, but if handled poorly (i.e. all current pros) it could further alienate the average gamer from the fighting game community.

They should only require basic fighting game competence and an interesting personality.

It's hilarious how far they will go to get us to shut up about gem pricing/availability and their affect on the tourney scene. Well played, Capcom (no sarcasm). I'll catch it when I can remember to watch and finals at Final Round is an awesome way to end it.

Is this gonna happen though? I bet they are gonna try to get top players that we already see on the streams. I do hope they get some unknowns.

Totally agree. Why have coaches for each team if your cast is a bunch of Evo winners?

Submitted a video!

Hope you find it somewhat entertaining, some GAFers might remember me from before UMVC3 came out and I was streaming it.

I will vote for you so long as you promise me you will NOT comb your hair and will keep it rugged. Also could you link some combos or gameplay into your vid? I think they wanted some fights to analyze from unknowns. Either way keep it rugged and screw combs. RUGGED.

I don't even know anyone who owns a comb.

But yeah, after I get done with some work ill upload some matches.

Kick ass! You can just download windows movie maker or something for free to plug some clips into your vid submission. I'd even post a text link to your stream. Im checking it now for some of your play. Might want to list your character picks like if you intend to rock Steve/Kazama or something.

Either way keep it rugged. :D

I wouldn't check the stream, most of it is observing and I was seriously rusty as hell when ultimate came out.

bluerei: Will do!

Yeah I noticed your only UMVC3 footage had you and your pal ranked as beginners rocking all new cast and just full screen testing moves so no real gameplay there to judge. Your iphone SFiv vid is too rough to tell either. But still I'll pull for someone that plays Steve Fox. He's a favorite in Tekken for me because I love the dodge mechanic he styles. Been awhile for me on Tekken but I always played Eddie, Lei Wulong (drunken fist characters= <3), Steve or Draganov.

I never got deep into either tekken or SF since the 2nd iterations of those games. I was a SCE fanatic as a kid.

Hey, I'm expecting to see some more entry videos from GAF. Not guaranteeing you'll get picked, but you guys should be entering this thing. Whoever wants to run an official thread once it starts, let me know. I'll hook you up with assets for it.

Xian is a US resident?

EDIT: He didn't even choose a side in his submission!

There is an option to choose what team you would like to be a part of in the application form.

I disagree.
My thoughts.

Get some real niggas on the show like SkeletorG. (If you don't know who this is shame on you)

Get Magus1234 on the show because he is amazing on the mic. (Darry too!) Plus know damn well the fat chicks will love his style, and bravado.

Get Mike Ross on the show for the gay community.

Get Aris (Tekken SC head) on the show for the "I know you looking at me because you racist ass motherfucker who scared I'm going to hijack a plane antics" (Oh...and he is one of the most insightful people in the community who keeps it fucking real and does not jerk around)

Get some more Tekken heads on the show like RIP, Mr Naps, and JustframeJames.

Get some fresh people we don't know about yet...

No fake ass "frag dolls" thanks. You know damn well this girl has never played these fighters in her life.

Put kadey on this shit...she is real and does a ton of good things for the fgc here.

holy crap

Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3 and Marvel vs. Capcom 3? NOW THAT'S HARDCORE.

you KNOW she's gonna make it on though. Reality shows all seem to have these "characters"

Ideally, we could just take some top players and call it a day. The funny thing is, most of them have interesting personalities.

A reality show with top FGC players is a pretty good idea now that I think about it, most of these guys are charismatic as fuck. The comparisons to pro wrestling are totally appropriate.

We will decide based on high level playing first, Charisma and everything else comes second.

I disagree.
Any reason why? Does he like the gay community/is nice to them or something?

I'm more a fan of Gootecks, myself <3

All I know is my gay friends think Mike Ross is hot as hell. Funny thing is they are jealous of Gootecks even though I told them Mike and Gootecks are not a couple and that Mike was straight LOL. (They were like whateverrr)

IIRC this girl was hounding MarkMan on Twitter a few months back for a sponsorship =P

Fucking sad, Bro. I'm all for being more accepting of women in the FGC, but clearly this chick is just in it for the fame and is using this genre as a quick cash cow. I'd rather get some real FG female fans that can show that they can hang with the best of 'em and they are simply not around to be eye candy or whatever. I strongly believe males do not have an advantage over females when it comes to fighters. So, I'd love to see women on the show that are legit and can kick arse.

I don't think someone like her would make it in. You got Haunts & Spooky running this show and you know damn well they can see fake ass shit from a mile away. I also think Capcom knows the FGC too well to know what would fly and what would not. (I hope!)

And, yeah most FGC people I know just have crazy ass backgrounds and really do have a lot of charisma. (I honestly put this down to most of us being huge old school WWF fans lol.) So, it would not be hard to get these people on the show and have it blow up and do some real good and not get trashed as a marketing gimmick that sucks balls and is fake as hell.

Haunts and Spooky are legit as fuck so you know I'm happy Capcom is showing 'em so much love. Feels damn fucking good to see people that worked their asses off for years and years (shout outs to KS2) get the chance to really do some exciting stuff for the community. I wish them and Capcom the best in the world with this venture!

I disagree.
Fuck me, I don't have a video camera. I need to find someone who does, otherwise no submission. D:

In your video I want to see you complete a hard combo then do the ric flair strut and call out someone that is well known in the FGC.

Put some life into it, Son.
