Well, it's not strange in fantasy works for dragons to be able to speak human languages.

It could be so incredibly old that it just eventually picked up the language of humans, or some other similar fantasy explanation.

I think it being a dragon zoan is probably the most likely though. I wonder if the flames/artic split were caused by what happened four years ago or if Punk Hazard was where Aokiji and Akainu had their fight.

Pretty cool chapter overall. It was a time like this that I wished Luffy didnt have that scar. Seeing a dragon in One Piece gives me the impression that Oda took a glance at the previous arc of Fairy Tail and thought it would be compelling to try to put the creature in here. Unfortunately, it didnt work too well as the design paled in comparison to Mashima's work, for say, Acnologia for one.

The most memorable moment was how happy Robin and Zoro looked around the time to draw straws/get on the little Merry.

Excellent chapter. If we skipped FI and went from Sabaody Marineford to here it would have been great. This is the OP I love! Getting a strong Thriller Bark feeling with the separate groups but I can't see this arc lasting long at all.

Oh man, I'm so tempted to make a photoshop of substituting the Sage with Nanny (from Muppet Babies) in the panel of Naruto with the baby tailed beasts gathered around him. The angle sucks though, makes it hard to put in nothing but green and white stripped socks.

Yeah, it makes sense. Pariston basically gives us an idea this chapter of how scary a serious Ging would be. However, Ging dropped out and decided to put his faith in Leorio which screwed everything up.

Gon being saved wouldn't have bothered Ging either way, so Pariston was screwed if he stayed in. But once Leorio became the main candidate, whose support was all based on Gon, Pariston knew he had a chance. Because if Ging had faith in Gon being healed, then Pariston knew it would happen.

This is correct (although Ging had been "trying" in his own way up until that point). Ging explained this a bit when he and Cheadle were having a conversation about Pariston and Cheadle talked about Ging taking that punch from Leorio on purpose. And Leorio would have won if it wasn't for Alluka (which I doubt Ging took into consideration with his belief that Gon would be healed).

Naruto doesn't have the bijuu themselves either - Tobi clearly ripped them back into the Gedo Mazo statue. He just freed them from the Paths of Pain technique which allowed Tobi to control them in battle (otherwise they'd just fight Tobi since they're pretty aware he's an asshole)

Nah FI was okay , after few years looking back at it FI going to fit in okay.
Plus the end of FI set up years worth of stuff to happen in the manga.

The problem with Oda's is that twist he put on it, it even looks like its smiling. Like most of the creatures he draws, they just have that weird twist that ruins any cool impact they could have. I was under the impression that he took inspiration from Toriyama, if so then his should have come out like it.

Now that and Mashima's dragons are how you draw them. Powerful looking, cool, and epic. Not some comical smiling dragon.
