Little OT, but Amazon is awesome.

I got an email this morning saying the price had dropped recently and they gave me $20 credit, I never asked for anything.

Edit: Late as usual...

I literally buy everything from Amazon at this point. I have Amazon prime, I pre-order games and they get delivered on release day. I actually could buy a snow blower that I want with prime delivery!

Those skill ranges are the levels of the skill you can train. If you have 4 in a Skill, the 0-3 Trainer can do nothing for you. Your character level is irrelevant, though a lower character level makes respeccing to get them all a lot easier.

Ok, I just wanted to make sure the character level was irrelevant. I didn’t want to get to the trainer later on and find out I couldn’t train that 0 skill because I was too high level.

Thanks.

Haha. I feel for you! But you were going to blame Amazon because an email disappeared from your email?
I thought they had recalled it or something like that because when I checked the KOA price this morning it was back to full price. I figured they had sent them out in error. Is it even possible to recall an email?

While stealth may not be the best skill in the game, I quite enjoy it. Sneaking up and doing a ton of damage is nice, followed by a smoke bomb and even more big hits. The whole stealth type char just fits my playstyle. And rolling is win. Smoke bomb is a must if you go stealth though. I also have points in bow skills (albeit they aren't maxed, really focusing on capping dagger skills). I tear through things pretty quickly and am content with my pure finesse char. I am soooo tempted to try sorcery/finesse though, or at least pure sorc. Probably my second playthrough will be this.

Also: Smoke Bomb = invisible to all merchants/npc's and you can steal whatever you like.

Worked fine in Torchlight, Borderlands, Sacred 2, etc. Not the case here. I'm sticking with "it's badly designed".

You should look up random, probabilities have just not been on your side, i myself find crazy loot which i turn into scrap.. you may not be opening chests in the dungeons, some of which require you to pay attention.

It only took me 40 levels but I finally finished a set of armor geared towards Might. Should end up beating the game tomorrow, sidequests & lorestones included. Will have around 60-65 hours played when I'm done. Still have the crime related achievements left, and the traps one, but I'll pick those up on a second run through.

Can you please tell us how many points you put in Persuasion to get "A Wink and a Smile"?

I got this email before I left the house this morning, but when I got to work and was going to enter the code for the $20 credit, it had vanished from my gmail account. I didn't delete it, it honestly just disappeared. WTF Amazon?
Edit: Never mind, I must have swiped the trash button accidentally on my phone, found it. Boy do I feel dumb...

Whew. I was gonna say they can't recall a message from your gmail account. :) Yes, I got the email and code too. Thanks Amazon!

Anyone else thinking of cancelling their pre-order for the Amalur guide?

I usually like to get guides when a game comes out, but as I play more and there is more time for wikis/web-pages to get up to date, I almost feel like it will be a waste.

I still plan to purchase the guide. It is done by FuturePress, and they have always done a good job on previous guides. And it is also supposed to be a high quality hardcover, as well.

I’ve always been one to collect guides, but I do my best in not using them.

This game needs Zelda's Z-Targeting.

And yeah, I also found stealth to be kinda of useless. But again, that's probably me expecting stealth as in Batman in Arkham Asylum/City or Metal Gear. This being action-rpg first, rarely do I ever need to use stealth.

I agree, I don’t know how many times I clicked L1 at the beginning of the game to target a nearby enemy, then realizing the option just isn’t there.

What I would really like is a way to center the camera in the direction you are facing. Yes, you can swing the camera around with the right analog stick, but it was just make it so much easier if you could do a quick camera change. Again, like in Zelda.

But they are really minor issues.

Pressing one if the analog sticks in does that when you're moving.

Is there a way to get all my quest targets tracked on the map? All I can get is 4-5 markers on the map at most.

A portion of my mana bar was blocked off from some curse or something. How do I restore it? I thought talking to the lady that cures curses would fix it but it didn't.

I just noticed that the Ring of the Magus (+1 sorcery) (iirc, might not remember the name exactly) actually give +2 to the Meteor Storm, not +1. And only to Meteor Storm. I have two such rings and both add an extra point to MS. I also have screenshots that show this (well photos I took with my phone hehe). I have no idea why this is. Doesn't really matter, at level 24 everything I needed in Sorcery was already maxed, but it's interesting.

Sustained spells use a portion of your mana bar continuously.

I just found that last night in one of the Plains of Erathell dungeons.

What's the damage of your Heart of Ember hammer? I found mine in Detyre mines and it does 187 damage. Just want to check if all the unique items are the same for everyone or maybe they got something to do with location or character level.

According to the devs, Uniques and Sets found randomly are all static. Uniques and Sets as part of a Quest reward are level scaled to a point.

How do you get the items from the Mass Effect 3 demo? I didn't see any messages pop up like in the Amalur demo for the ME3 items.

Same damage.

I was level 22 when I found it.

Currently lv.7, just cleared out the majority of the Web Wood, got my house fully upgraded. =) Was pleased to see how cheap that was.

Is it normal for the best piece of armor I have at this point to still be some crappy boiled leather armor? Rogue armor is drab as hell so far. I got the Perfidious Gloves, and I've been told that I can find the rest by simply farming the area where I found the gloves. Is this true? Does the area have to be exact, or more generalized?

Can someone tell me real quick if, now that the game has been out a week, there's a significant difference between 360 and PS3 versions? Is one better?

Yep. It took me until ~lvl 15 to finally see some ok parts of sets for my Rogue. But yea, I agree that as a whole, the Finesse sets are pretty drab (and look VERY similar).

Fought some orange Ettin War Priests yesterday, more of a challenge. Though I only play on Normal. Level 6.

Also the dungeons I have found have been pretty short, are there longer, expansive dungeons as you go further along?

Finished the game. My thoughts on the final boss:

Kinda "meh" final battle. I hate final bosses that are stupid.

The only way I can damage her is to use my full fate meter. So what does she do? She keeps throwing those fate projections at me to kill so that I can re-build my fate meter and do it to her again. Stupid.

Still, love the game :).

I was a warrior/mage that skilled in Blacksmithing/Sgaecrafting. Needless to say, I was stupid-powerful and untouchable. I finished the game and immediately re-started as a pure Rogue speccing heavily in Stealth and Persuasion. That should gimp me enough. :)

So sad to see the GB guys hating on the game, I'm having a blast with it. I can see how if you just came from Skyrim you might be burnt out on the genre right now. So glad I didn't like Skyrim :).

How do you bind more than 4 skills? I have so many magic spells now that I need quick access to more than 4. Is there a power wheel like the quick items wheel?

I don't think you can. The game even tells you in a hint that you can unbind sustained spells after casting them and they'll be kept up, I think that's a not-so-subtle acknowledgement that the 4 skill limit is there. It's one of the more annoying problems with the game.

Yeah, on hard one of those guys erased an hour of gameplay. I've been better at saving since then. I'm level 25 now and have abandoned sidequests and faction quests because the combat is getting really stale since no one is putting up a fight on Hard. Hell even
Balor put up zero fight against me. Disappointing to say the least.
.

I'm hoping to find that the end game sections are much harder than what I'm currently facing.

Whoa Whoa Whoa. Are we sure there isn't a way to bring up a power wheel like in every other similar games? This is fairly stupid if you can't. I'm playing as a 100% sorcerer and I need my healing, summon, elemental rage, and all the other elemental spells. Some drain MP quickly so I use the cheap ones to kill a single foe and use them only for crowd control.

:(

I'm sad that I can't have any skank- tastic outfits for my elf wench like Alyn Shir's got on.

Why not make it a unique robe/ 2 slot outfit?

I think it would be cool to have some less armor- like designs available for both genders. I'd love to wander around in some of the NPC clothes. Not those lowly peasant/ farmer clothes either. Gotta be stylin' when I go to town!

Maybe I just haven't come across any interesting ones since I've spent more time on my big brute of a man.

Well of course I'm not sure, I just never managed to do it and there was no tutorial that explained how to do it. I'm playing as a sorcerer too but only ever need to use the three basic elemental spells + Meteor though. Healing was only needed while I had to save potions, but I haven't used one in ten hours or so (craft high health regen equipment and have some potions ready anyway just to be safe instead of Healing, they're better in any case - if you need one potion, chances are you'll need several so Healing won't be much use) so was kind of OK - but not being able to use summoning and the sustained defense spell is annoying. Hope I'm wrong though.
