Well, in the show, they were heading to Ft. Benning (Columbus, about 100 miles SW of Atlanta).

I would take the various "Highway 27's" to Columbus, rather than stay on 85/185. Heck, I think I might try to stay at one of the various buildings up on Pine Mountain. Elevated, enough space to fence off a section, and still sparsely populated.

Take up resident at FDR's Lil White House. Calloway Gardens should be empty too.

I'm confused about people complaining about the zombie being stuck in the mud.

It was explained in episode 7 that a good portion of the farm is surrounded by a marsh that had quicksand like mud that would trap walkers if they got stuck in it. Otis used to go around and wrangle them up. Do you remember Rick and Hershel finding that female neighbor zombie stuck in the mud and wrangling her back to the barn? This was all explained and setup earlier in the season.

I swear, some of you guys have the memory of a goldfish, or simply don't pay attention to shit.

Ok, watched Sunday but I finally just read through the whole thread from that night. A couple of points I wanted to make:

1) You guys are right, it does seem as if the survivors just don't care about attempting to go anywhere or do anything, unlike in LOST when they were constantly active. The issue with that in this show is that they don't have a solution to the over-arching problem. In LOST the whole thing boils down to just getting off of the island, then protecting against the others, etc. In TWD, they showed a sense of direction and a sense of purpose when they were headed to the CDC. After that happened tho, what else is left? You basically just have to sit and wait it out. ---- I do agree, however, that they should be fortifying the fuck out of their location.

2) In any apocalypse scenario or any other situation in which a group of humans is left to their own devices, they always turn on each other and start picking off group members. I want to call it the Lord of the Flies effect but I'm sure it happened before that in literature. The most immediate comparison for us is LOST, so I'll use it here too. It happened on that show as well. It's a normal human reaction. It's perfectly natural for strife to exist within the group and even more natural for them to want to kill the group of 30 (and for the group of 30 to want to kill them).

3) I don't get the people that are in here saying they hate the show so much. Yeah it's hokey and the writing isn't phenomenal but it's entertaining as heck mang. I am really enjoying the show and I think it's been really terrific since coming back from break. The farm does need to end tho.

4) We are watching a show about zombies and are concerned about the strength of one particular zombie to rip open Dale and the strength of Dale not being able to bench that one "80 lb." zombie. C'mon bros lighten up.

5) I am extremely surprised that the conversation after the episode centered moreso around how ridiculously Dale died than the decision to execute Randall. Either I thought about it too much or it's just a foregone conclusion because of the torture, but before the torture, I just can't agree with the execution. The dude was left for dead by his crew, there is now way he would have stayed loyal. All that said, the writers are STUPID and could have easily created some internal strife by having Randall free among the group and then have him push up on one of the chicks. Group reacts and kills him anyway, but after gathering some vital intel on food and where other people are hiding. The story line writes itself.

6) Dale was one of my favorite characters on the show. You guys are right tho, Carl must die.

Okay that blows my mind. I thought she looked familiar but I wouldn't have made that connection in a million years.

Been going back and revisiting older episodes. There was a moment in the season 1 finale in which Jenner whispered something to Rick. Was that ever clarified or did that just fall by the wayside?

It's on the backburner so far. I seem to recall Rick alluding to it for a moment this season in a conversation with Hershel, I think. He started to tell him something but hesitated and dropped it. I keep waiting for something to come of it and that damn helicopter from season 1 too.

Dale :((((((((((((

He, Darryl, Glenn and Rick were my favorites. But Dale above all. I hope Andrea grows the fuck up in the wake of this. And maybe shoots Shane in the face.

Carl is acting like a whiny 10 year old.

No feelings on Randall yet.

Agreed, I think people pick things apart too much instead of getting lost in the show itself for the entertainment value. Yeah that zombie ripped Dale to shreds, might have been better if it had bit into him instead as that's happened a million times before, but it happened the way it did no harm done. This show has been fun, but I was pretty sad when Dale died, I had no idea that was coming.

That's all I'll say, but I'm more excited for this thread than the actual episode :p

Anyway it has been a long week. The wait for the season finale has been brutal. You know things are finally getting better when the episodes feel further and further away. At least that's how I feel.

Season finale is next week isn't it?

As I posted a few pages back, it seems to be the way of things on GAF TV show threads. The writers are always dumb, the acting is always shit, the show is just horrible. But the same complainers come back every week. Don't get me wrong, some complaints are fine, but if you come back week in week out the truth of the matter is you like the show enough to keep watching. So people need to zip it.

I got lambasted for this opinion in the Dexter thread before. Some of the people arguing with me were still watching after saying the show had been terrible for 4 seasons! So bad they couldn't stop watching.

I've loved The Walking Dead from the start, it has it's issues, but what doesn't?

Yeah I feel bad for those guys. It must be shit to go through life not being able to enjoy anything.

Somehow it's like the ME3 thread. Sad.

So Lori's having a zombie baby like in the Dawn of the Dead remake? Show's ruined. :p

Can't wait for the final episodes. Yeah, the show has problems but I still look forward to it so whatever.

I really like how the writers to gave Glenn and Hershel a scene to finally put a cap on the relationship between the two of them that the writers never actually bothered to give them. Good stuff.

New episode tonight!
Better Angels

Someone dangerous may be loose near the farm; Rick, Shane, Daryl and Glenn keep the group safe.
Only two episodes to go this season. Next week is the finale.

Just a reminder that there is a thread for spoiler discussion. Please use that for any discussion of script leaks, comic books vs the tv show, and spoilers in general. Thank you.

make sure the pudding isn't too soggy but that just ruins everything
Seems like two eps isn't enough to put a cap on this season... I mean... they haven't even done anything.

What do you expect them to do, backflips? :p

This season has mostly been about the transformation of Rick, and I say it has been going well enough, and with 2 episodes left (and the biggest 2), there is lots of room for that to cap off.

Lori's baby isn't going to be a zombie... it'll be

Yeah, this thread is about to blow-the-fuck-up! Looking forward to some crazy heated discussion.

It's been a long time waiting, but these last two are my favorite episodes in the entire show. Some great moments here. Prepare for madness!

The showrunner tweeted that they start filming in May so presumably they have started writing Season 3 or are well into doing so.

I love TV shows. Drop in on a discussion of The Wire, Justified, Homeland, Boardwalk Empire, Breaking Bad, and other great shows and you'll see me and these other people who "don't enjoy anything" loving those shows. The Walking Dead and Dexter are lightyears away in quality from these. I still enjoy Walking Dead, moreso than Dexter, but there are a lot of issues and I like to call them out. The reason I still watch is because I see potential. If I actually hated the show I wouldn't keep watching or talking about it (See: The Killing).
