Some new footage popped up. Same level from the recent trailer. Hayashi plays on hard, gets creamed, switches to easy. Also, Japanese VA.

Besides all the stupid changes and regressions, I'll admit it looks pretty fun. He didn't play long enough to properly compare, but hopefully the UT doesn't charge that quickly on hard.

Yeah, it looks like ninja gaiden...right down to the camera. Could be fun, and I don't think I care enough to wait on the WiiU version, so I may gamefly it and see how it is.

All ready a few seconds In and the those grunts look ridiculously easy. Hayashi is just shit.

Edit: now I've watched everything, what worrys me is this is supposed to be the second half of the game. The A.I seem hesitant to attack and basically amount to cannon fodder, (although granted a good chunk of this footage is on easy) combat looks clunky and stiff, but that is more due to hayashi more than anything, because although the slide is a bit annoying, movement isn't that different from previous NG titles.

What I'm impressed with is that you are fighting groups of 5 or more at one time, although I still contend they should be rushing to attack you far more. A group of 3 normal black spider ninjas in black are still far more scary to encounter than anything I've seen in this game, hell, even a crate filled with ghost fish is.

I'm also happy that after the ninpo was used, the fight continued. I was convinced it was only be allowed to use to end fights to move to a next area.

I'm not hyped, but I'm starting to want to see where this goes again. It's not going to be in the same league as the first two, but it doesn't mean this is going to be a bad game.

Is there going to be a demo for this? I've only ever played the Sigma games on PS3 (no 360) and I really enjoyed them.

I thought I heard that there wasn't going to be a demo but it was unconfirmed? Is this a full blown fact now? (I did a quick search and found notta).

I haven't heard anything about a demo. The game comes with a demo of DOA5 though, maybe that's what you're thinking of?

The game looks decent, but I am still pissed that they removed all the other weapon types. Lunar staff was my main weapon since NG1. Not to mention that playing around with scythe, tonfas, claws etc. was really nice. All those QTE also feels unnecessary and annoying and I'd rather have that part as a in-game cutscene. It felt like Hayashi was on the right path with NGS2 (except the removal of gore), but took several steps backwards with this game.

Irene's already in the series, Sonia in NG2 was actually Irene (as stated in DOA: Dimensions).

I know people keep saying this, but has this actually been confirmed as canon? I mean, to me Sonia looks like someone that walked out of a BDSM movie, yet the new Irene in dimensions kinda reminded of a blonde Ramona Flowers.

Yeah, yeah, I know same tat on the chest, but the bluish green eyes, face, lips, and head seem to have different shapes to them. Irene just seems more brighter, friendly, and less slutty than Sonia.

Actually, I was glad to see Irene return in the 3ds one. I like the new series, but I hate that it has nothing to do with the NES versions...

Who is the real Ninjadog? Team who does 60fps Ninja Gaiden or team who makes 30fps Ninja Wannabe?

Ninja Theory's Feel of 60 tech will save Itagaki new 30fps game.

Anyway, I think it was clear that team Ninja old B-team aka Sigma/Hayashi team was better in engine department than the former A-team, Hayashi and his team made a next gen engine that run at solid 60fps (look better too) in the same time A-team have bad time with NG2 on the old DOAX engine.

Itagaki should have got the engine programmers from the Sigma team when he left ( then again he shat on that team before he got fired so I think that will be impossible)

Well every single character in NG2 was hideously ugly, and they did "fix" Ayane to be more in-line with the DOA style so it's easy to see why they'd do it to Irene as well. It would be a neat bit of service if she dyed her hair brown in NG3. :)

Also I always assumed that "Ninja Gaiden" (the new series) was always meant to be a prequel to "Ninja Ryukenden" (NES), but I guess there are a few things that contradict the old story.

But doesn't this contradict his profile in dead or alive? If you look at his bio, it says that he owns an antique shop in NYC with his wife "Aileen," (which I always took is a mistranslation of Irene).

EDIT - you did say contradiction....sorry didn't read fully

This game isn't too interesting to me, but I'm gunna pick up the Wii U version on launch day to check out the supposed extras, it seems good-ish though.

Looked awesome when they removed the QTE's and ninja mode seemes hard enough.

Day one.

Bosses look fun and diverse. It may not be Ninja Gaiden Black, but it looks like a good enough God of War derivative to be enjoyable.

Are there going to be any other weapons besides shuriken, bow/arrow, and the katana?
Anyone know??

No, they took those out because this game is about the feel of the sword cutting through flesh or some shit like that. Basically there will only be one type of weapon(katanas)...which basically means only 1 weapon.

Every time I see something I like, there's something I don't like thrown in.

I like the addition of the QTEs and the stealth or the occasional wall-climb(as long as they still have the wall-running/wall-jumping sections, which they do). They completely ditched almost any sense of exploration/puzzle-solving from NGB in NG2, and I felt that game suffered for it. Now it was just walking forward and fighting dudes for 10+ hours. I think the new additions are a cool way to break up the monotony.

But then I don't like the STEEL ON BONE Square button shit that just slows down the fight and makes every fight feel that much more repetitive and samey.

I hated how NG2 would give you twice as many guys to fight in any given area then NGB, with the same amount of intensity in attacks. They gave you so many more moves to your movelist when they changed from the Hori/Vert system of NGB to the more traditional Light/Heavy stuff in NG2, but unless you like getting interrupted constantly by one of the six guys surrounding you or the FUCKING rocket/IS spam, you start using only a select few.

Well now you got the same amount of enemies, but they all just stand around and shit! I rather they go with the less is more approach with NGB since they can't seem to find a happy medium.

IDK man, I just want to really enjoy a NG game, and I haven't since Sigma.

Doesn't make sense to me, maybe I'm misunderstanding? It seems to me that you're saying you like the QTEs, but you don't like the QTEs.

I like the QTEs outside the main combat. The jumping off a ledge and dodging missiles, or sliding under a big mecha spider and shit. It's varied and visually interesting. The steel on bone just interrupts the combat, and it looks like its the same shit over and over again.

Perfectly understood now, thanks. I agree that looks fun to me also, as long as it isn't too quick and punishing like Bayonetta's worst ones. Yeah, interrupting the flow is a terrible idea, shoot whoever thought that was wise.

Goddamn, those out of nowhere, lightning fast reaction speed Bayonetta QTEs. Love that game to death, but those really pissed me off. When I was playing through it the first time, I always trying to play it right, get at least gold if not platinum on each of the scenes. Then you didn't press the Square button at the one split second the game wanted, and there's a death that screws up your whole score!

VERY annoying, ESPECIALLY when its against the boss of the level!

No doubt, my gripe exactly. It's like you have to follow a guide just to be ready, otherwise there goes your hard earned work up 'til that point. Bayonetta is incredible, hopefully Team Ninja took some notes.

Sorry if I'm behind did anyone see the review the official Xbox magazine give the game? They gave it an 8/10 but the highlighted parts made it sound like a 5 or 6 at best, haha. Made me less inclined to purchase it but fuck it, I could do with a brand new hack-and-slash title.

Yes, I read the review. Basically, as a sequel to Ninja Gaiden the game is about a 4 or a 5, but it is still very enjoyable as a standalone game. The amount of negatives they talked about is pretty startling.

Looks like Genshin will return in this game somehow. No idea how they are going to do that since you kill him in the real world and then you go to hell and then kill him again.

By the way I will be doing the OT for this game. I just have a few Exams to take care of.

EDIT: Actually I take that back, it looks like it's just a flashback of some sort with Genshin in it.

I read it as well and was hopeful that there was more beneath the surface than the early impressions revealed. Seems that is not the case.
Still as an experience, it should be enjoyable since one of the highlights was the story. I'm not going to buy it, but I'll certainly watch someone's playthrough on Ultimate Ninja.

If the other weapons come back as DLC, I could buy the GOTY version then.

And they made him a Lord of Cinder. Not for virtue, but for might. Such is a lord, I suppose. But here I ask. Do we have a sodding chance?
Oooh I love those purple demons! They're really satisfying to dismember :3

Oh shit...

I completely forgot about that.

FUCK.

For anyone who hasn't played 1 and 2, ignore the "it's a 4 or 5 compared to the old games". If you are a not-too-hard-core gamer, this sequel looks to be more mature and accessible, and it seems to me that new adopters would be more comfortable with this one than say, with 2.

As for the original games,

NG1: huge innovation. first two levels were great, went downhill a bit with the random bosses and the strange and generic looking fiends. also ghost fish.

Alot of people praise black, but I've never played.

NG2: big mess. The whole game is random with no real meaning to anything you do. It seems it was aimed at a 15 year old (hey no offense 15 year olds, I used to be 15 once and those days were awesome) with infinite time on their hands. The gameplay mechanics were superb and the weapons were great, this is what saved this game IMO.

NG3 looks to have a nice story, lots of faced paced action scenes, more cinematic experience. As well, the enemies seem reasonably interesting and not outrageous (ninja dogs, common). The combat is still there, but just Katana's. It is a bit disappointing, but then there is the whole steel-on-bone mechanic which would have not likely worked otherwise. Kunai climb and stealth section I feel, are a nice addition and will make things more varied.

So haters stop hating.

It does what MW does while it loads the begining of a level, the tactical style map screen nonsense.

I like what I see in terms of fighting, looks like NG to me... also, ninja terrorists.
