The Walking Dead - Season 2 - Sundays on AMC

I don't think there is a single person that sympathizes with Lori. Every single interview and every single comment I've seen journalists and fans all mention how confused they were at that scene, the writers aren't stupid though, yeah they're making excuses like "oh she's not mad at rick, she is just upset, taking it all in, blahblah", but in the end, they know the shit was dumb lol.

I definitely don't think they are trying to villainize rick though. They were all about to do something incredibly stupid like split up in their own separate ways in the middle of the night, and Rick flipped his shit and put most of those dumb ass idiots in their place. Kirkman said it was 50/50, half Rick going a bit psycho and getting darker, but the other half is his balls officially dropping and saying if you're gonna roll me this is how it's gonna be.

And in the end...they all chose to roll with him because they all shut up and were about to sit back down before it cut to credits.

Lori's actions only make sense if she is actually scheming from behind the scenes to take control of the group somehow. Hence that is why she attempted to pit Rick and Shane against each other and is now moving on to discrediting Rick.

Predictions for Season 3:

-A herd of walkers nearly kills the entire group when Rick leads them to safety. Lori glares at Rick in contempt for this heinous act.

-A random psychotic chainsaw-wielding serial killer attacks Carl, but Rick shoots him and saves his son's life. Lori can barely look at Rick in her disgust.

-Rick finds a laboratory filled with notes; the scientists there were days from finding a cure and dispersal method. Rick spends his days and nights working around the clock instead of giving hats to Carl or having sex with Lori. Lori confronts Rick about his selfish behavior and threatens to leave him.

-A train full of nuns is about to derail and hit a kitten stuck in a tree. Rick goes out on his own and stops the disaster. Lori and the others whisper about what needs to be done to stop Rick's reign of terror.

This is a quality post.

She's like an even more unlikable Gaius Baltar - just without the on screen hallucinations

I love her. I hope her death is grand. Something that would make the children sing.

I knew there had to be a reason Michonne's origin story was in this month's Playboy.

I've been laughing at this for 10 minutes straight and have been forwarding it to everyone I know.

Catched up.

Yup, this was the best episode since the pilot. Sure, it had some questionable moments, but for the most part it was lots of fun and had the right amount of asskicking for a season finale. I really liked how fucking fast the entire thing was; it reminded me of some of the Shield's non-stop moments. It really felt like Mazzara's work.

As a side note, Danai Gurira looks a bit of an odd choice to play Michonne. I know nothing about her, but I can't see the resemblance at all. Does she even have a picture with medium lenght, curly hair?

The pacing of the second half of season 2 has been great.

They have come a long way from episodes like Vatos in season 1. The only thing they need to work out is the bipolarness of a lot of characters. They lack consistency to the events happening around them.

They also need to avoid themes that concern "society" and "civilization". They need to focus more the the individuals and their actions for guidance and judgement, much like the comics.

Overall, a great season ending and I'm looking forward to season 3.

I think her face matches perfectly. She just needs a wig. Or not. If they want to go with short hair for her, it would make sense.

I've only seen her with a shaved head.
So does anyone know what the ratings were like? I'm curious to see how it did for the season finale.
They're not out yet, but AMC will probably put out a press release later today.

For Danai Gurira, they said they wanted someone who is a believable ass kicker, and she definitely has that body build, but they also wanted someone who was a good actor as well. I'm sure that made their choices limited. I wonder if she'll have hair.

edit: not sure if that was her, but google was picking it up

edit 2: yep. Every single GIS picture is someone else mis-labeled as her or from an article on her.

Thankfully with such short hair wearing a wig will be easier. :p

Totally loved the finale. One of my favourite shows on tv. That new character looks amazing and the prison in end should be enough for the new season to be even better than these last two.

You've gone from my 6th favorite poster to like 2nd or 3rd with this post.

This is great. Spot on. I have to wonder why the writers thought making him a villain over a non-villainous act was a good idea. I don't get it. If Rick per-emptively killed Shane before Shane ever did anything then that's a different story but it was clear cut whoever kills the other survives and Shane started it all.

Carl and his stupid hat just fucking need to die!

Carl is The Destroyer Of All That Lives, but I'd rather turn Lori into zombie chowder first. Quoting io9:

Whenever Lori Grimes is onscreen, accidental comedy is around the corner. This character is a one-person Rube Goldberg machine. Whether flipping cars for no real reason or telling Andrea to do more dishes or pitting Rick against Shane or getting mysteriously wistful about their fling two episodes later, Lori is the epicenter of perpetual silliness.

Thats the thing though, he didn't quote any spoilers because I didn't put any out there. Its nothing that hasn't already been said in this thread and its just plain NOT A SPOILER. Something that exists for approximately 1 page in the comic and is never referenced again is not spoiler material. Its just not.

How am I supposed to know what is going to be often-referenced or not? I didn't know who the character was or if it was a guy or a girl and I think the TV show was trying to keep the mystery as well, which was ruined.

I guess I'll just stay away from this thread completely since people seem to have different definitions of what a spoiler is.

This confused me too. Daryl even told everyone in the farmhouse that the tracks showed that Shane and Randal were working together.

I LOVE the last bit of the AV club review, here I'll quote it:

While he’s ranting, the camera pulls up, and we see, across the river, that the survivors may have a new place to take shelter in soon, a place where they can protect themselves and hold off any threat, a place where they can sacrifice their freedom and autonomy in the name of safety and unbreakable walls. A prison. But the funny thing about prisons is, it’s not that hard to get inside, but it’s next to impossible to get back out.

gonna be gloriousssss

Mother of fuck. That samurai chick. OMG. WTF.

Also, show has way too many annoying characters. Lori. Carl. Sophia's mum. Whatsherface, that suicidal daughter of Herschel. And I don't even get why T Dog is still there.

I'm not looking forward to another entire season in 1 closed off area but hopefully it'll be good. I really want them to go back to the city and explore new environments. The whole appeal of post apocalyptia to me is abandoned every day places like hospitals, grocery stores, banks, etc. I love seeing stuff like that empty and broken down. The farm became dull after a few episodes. I hope the same doesn't happen with the prison.

Someone on reddit compared comic Michonne to the actress playing her here.
She looks pretty similar.

I honestly have no idea about how they are going to deal with the season. I imagine they won't follow the comic very close, specially given how many people already bit the dust.

I guess it's the hair. I never pictured Michonne having round face.

It's not clear-cut at all to most of the remaining survivors that Shane would try to kill Rick. Instead, they probably see Shane as some kind of badass guardian angel, given all that he's done for them. There's also the shock effect of hearing about someone like Rick actually pulling the trigger on Shane. The group's reaction does make sense from the group's perspective.

well going by their post-season interviews, it sounds like they intend to keep that pace overall. Obviously not gonna kill of major characters every single episode, but I think they'll stick fairly close to the comic....

....I hope.

Ricktatorship, is right. That episode was awesome but seriously, KILL LORI. She contributes nothing to the group and is an awful character.

We have to give Lori credit.. she saw the burning barn and resisted the urge to jump into a car, crash it, run into the barn and get herself killed! that's character development!

Well the group is stupid and deserves to die lol

The smart ones like Daryl know what the deal is. I don't mind the group was upset, Lori is the one who pissed me off because she basically told Rick to kill him and was the main one promoting he was unhinged and a danger

Daryl and the Asian kid had already pieced together that Shane killed the escapee though. He didn't quite make the leap that he did so in order to murder Rick, but they knew he was a lying scumbag who couldn't be trusted. Rick did a poor job explaining the final confrontation, but he should have the benefit of the doubt. Especially from Sophia's mother, wtf.

Lori already knows that Shane murdered Otis. Problem is, this knowledge would probably enrage/isolate Hershel's family more from the others than it would put them on Rick's side. And Hershel is definitely on the "Shane had it coming, Rick is a standup guy" bandwagon already.

I'm really kind of surprised that nothing came from Shane stealing and hoarding ammo. They'd kind of hinted at that over the last few episodes and then nothing. Andrea still had plenty to survive.

I'm happy T-Dawg survived. I hope he continues to survive next season. He doesn't do anything other than what needs to be done and stays out of harm's way. Good on him.
