I've never watched GP2 but I want to start now.

Why do they have 2 races?

I never really followed it either, but want to see if I like enough to make it a regular thing.

GP2 Weekend:

Free Practice - 30 minutes

Qualifying - 30 minutes

Qualifying times decide the order of Race 1.
Four points for pole position.​

Race 1 - 170 Km or 60 minutes

One compulsory pit-stop in which at least two tyres must be changed.
Top ten drivers score points. (25, 18, 15, 12, 10, 8, 6, 4, 2, 1)
Two points for fastest lap.​

Race 2 - 120 Km or 45 minutes

Starting order is the order of the end of Race 1, Top 8 is reversed.
No pitstops allowed.
Top eight drivers score points. (15, 12, 10, 8, 6, 4, 2, 1)

I like watching GP2 for the crashes The drivers aren't as experienced and I feel much more reckless, trying to impress the higher ups and secure a seat in F1.

SPEED doesn't air it live, instead showing it just before the race on Sunday, and even then only showing the full feature race and a highlight package of the sprint race. I still catch it every time it is on though.

when you look back to the 2008 cars those things are so wild! at the time I thought they were the best looking cars ever.

Foliorum Viridum is a cool cat. I wish I could participate in the F1 2011 league because I think he does a great job putting everything together. And it's actually almost comical how many threads he and I "share" together. It seems that we share many of our core hobbies.
