GAH why did I fucking highlight this.

Please stop posting spoilers so early. All you do is ruin books for other people.

Sounds like you ruined it for yourself. :D

Also that statue is pretty nice but once again I'd feel like too much of a weirdo for buying one. The Phoenix Bishoujo would probably be the only one I'd pick up. Maybe the Christie (from Tekken) one too...

Well it's my personal bias but i am not really enjoying the avengers right now, if you're gonna get anything get Secret Avengers. Marvel does recap pages so it shouldn't be that hard to follow.

not sure about Captain america or Astonishing but Daredevil and FF are in the middle of an arc.

Aquaman #7 is a new arc, and i'm really enjoying it so maybe check that out

Thanks. I thought I read that FF #16 was a beginning of a new arc?

Man the ending of this UXF arc got real heavy real fast and seemingly abruptly. All in all good story, but I'll have to reread it to see if the crazy end was built towards previously. It seemed to come out of left field but I did go through this entire arc cursing the hell out of its art and probably missing a lot of nuance in the story because of it.

The last issue has a lot of really good ideas, both with the driving plot and all the character moments. The dramatic conclusion is the best I've read all week so far.

But damn, that artwork. So glad that's over, and next issue is some Phil Noto goodness.

It constantly (and even doubly so now that he's on Secret Avengers) surprises the hell out of me that Remender can squeeze as much amazing characterization out of his books which are all (including Venom) covert ops, action filled books, full of characters that are either seemingly shallow, or kind of well-worn property by this point.

Yeah, he can say so much about a character in a page, a panel, or just a sentence. An exchange of words between teammates. He's only got 20 something pages, but based on this issue alone, the way he builds up to it is brilliant. The flashback really works in the context, showing the three as family, and that last line Jamie says is a really crucial, thematically. Then there's that page with Jamie and Brian talking, joking, working together. It's such an easy, real chemistry there, between two people who have gone VERY different ways in their lives but they are Braddock brothers through it all. Remender gives you a reason to care about these characters, so when he drops the big hammer at the end, you really feel it, and there are real stakes and repercussions for their actions.

So yeah, like I said, the book is still great in the way UXF always is, but that artwork man...

I thought Tocchini was going for something, making Otherworld seem, well, otherwordly. But oooh boy did it ever get in the way of readability sometimes. And that's a cardinal sin of sequential art. At least Remender knows his shit and can do the super awesome characterization stuff to make it all palatable.

So, I missed that, All-Star Western and Secret Avengers. Please remind me to never go buy comics while tired and hungry ever again.

Get back to your damned store, right now. Jimmy the god damned lock if they're closed. Do not pass Go. Do not collect $200.

Just the opposite. AFAIK this next couple of months will just be Hickman wrapping up the entirety of his run. So, terrible jumping on point really. The good stuff has happened, now this is the meat of the fallout. Great if you've been reading this whole time, not so much if you haven't.

Little late, but I just read Fantastic Four 604 and holy FUCK that was phenomenal. Excellent climax to a three-year run, bringing the whole thing full circle and putting all of it in perspective as, ultimately, a story about fathers and sons.

Oh yeah, that would get basted but good.

1. I didn't know you were a Dragon fan.
2. I didn't invite you over! >:O

If only the buttboys on the Tekken team would stop being racist against big jiggling titties in their games. The Soul team should teach them a thing or two in between the no-taste daisy chain that is the Tekken team buggering each other.

God damn it IDW!

I bought another duplicate issue of the fucking Transformers because they keep doing second printings with new covers and throwing me off. >:O

Futurama #60
Spaceman #5
All Star Western #7
Bloodstrike #26
Avengers Spidermang #5

Then I fished (HAW) two of the Wonder Woman Retroactive books out of the dollar bin. LUCKY DA!

jon bones

hot hot hanuman-on-man action
damn wish i was reading this FF stuff earlier, i feel like the big climax has already been ruined for me . sounds like quite a run.

God damn it!

Gotta draw some shit on these sketch covers and make money.

Or try.

I know somebody out there would there be interested in Squirrel Girl Vs. Cable. Hit Monkey Vs. Deadpool. And Red Hulk / Red She-Hulk Vs. Hulk / She-Hulk.

Must. . .

Stop. . .

Being. . .

LAZY!

A comic shop opened up in my miserable small ass town, and everything that is good in me is telling me that I should support one of the few things this shit hole has going for it.

That said...

..I haven't followed comics since the Age of Apocalypse series (Which I am told is actually being done again? Irony?) Anyway, I picked up Schism and Re-Genesis... and, well.. I thought it was bad. Keeping in mind I am coming into the X universe almost completely blind now, but it just seemed like cheap, shoddy writing. Like, fanfic bad.

So, I ask: What should I pick up? I read that Whedon did a run on X-Men, should I start there? Help me ComicsGAF, you're my yadda, yadda.

Tip: don't read events, they usually suck due to editorial mandates and rushed deadlines. Instead, read Wolverine and the X Men, it's amazing. I've read a handful of x books over the years and this is one of the best books I've ever read.

Morrison and Whedon's run are also great fun and good 'beginner' runs.

Edit: if you have fond memories of AoA, definitely read Uncanny x-force, it's all based from that series and it rocks.

Whedon's run on X-men is a good one to pick up. Its fun, easy for people to pick up that haven't followed the x-men in a while to get, and it has great art.

Would it look weird on my shelf to have vol. 1 of a trade in paperback and vol. 2 in hardcover? S.H.I.E.L.D. if anyone is wondering what I'm actually getting.

What is so great about X-Factor? I always see people mention how good it is, but I've read two or three issues and never noticed anything impressive about it.
Ongoing superhero soap opera. For 60+ issues by the same writer and not tied much to what happen in the rest of the X-Books.

Uncanny X-Force, Wolverine & the X-Men, X-Men Legacy = Good
X-Anything else = Bad
Whedon = Always overrated

You're forgetting X-Factor which is probably one of the most consistently great X-books out there.

I wouldn't say Whedon is overrated, I have the Omnibus of his Astonishing run and it holds up pretty well outside of the "Breakworld"? stuff.

Book of the week for me this week is FF which continues to be amazing, Also picked up DMZ Vol. 11.

I actually liked Avengers vs X-Men #0 and am not getting the comment about it being "the usual prologue trash." It did a nice job of (re)introducing the two character-candidates to readers, showing where each is coming from at this moment in their lives. Wanda is feeling so vulnerable and small and utterly despised right now, so unsure of herself and her place after being gone so long; and Hope is full of confusion and frustrated anger -- but like Wanda, she too is unsure of how she fits into the grand scheme. This wasn't a setup book in the traditional sense, it was a character-driven piece.

I agree. The big centerpiece scene with Wanda was incredible.

It's a Marvel Event though, so everyone will hate it and I'll be doing the backstroke by myself in its awesomeness.

I have faith in the Marvel crew to deliver an amazing event just underwhelmed at the moment with what I've read.

Joe Kelly is doing an event at Midtown Comics Downtown location on saturday with Quesada and someone else. I would attend if I could just to see if I could get my Deadpool issues signed but NYC Comic Gaf should check it out.
