NGNT 4 is so much better though!

Can't tell if serious but it so was.

Oh I am serious. GNT4 is probably the best licensed fighting game ever. The only thing 3 has over it is dpad support and no load time filled character select wheel.

Funny thing people never remember about the Naruto GCN games was that the announcement of the first game was the originator of the Megaton meme. People laughed at the idea of it being a big deal but for GCN's pathetic 3rd party support it pretty much was.

I'm glad the Naruto GNT games dominated GCN. They were so much better than the Naruto games we get now.

GNT4 is the best anime fighting game ever made. I would pay MAD MONEY for a port of it on XBLA/PSN with online play.

Has any Naruto title been able to sell in this generation half of what that GCN Naruto game did?

[3DS] Dynasty Warriors Vs. <ACT> (Koei Tecmo) (¥6.090)

What can we expect for this title?

Samurai Warriors: Chronicles did it well (147,777).

I don't think Squeenix was expecting more than 500.000 copies sold worldwide of it.
American / European sales will complete this estimation handily

Do you really think Square Enix expects Kingdom Hearts 3D: Dream Drop Distance to sell less than Kingdom Hearts Re:coded?

The sadness I'm feeling over the Vita's sales performance is very similar to the kind I had watching the Gamecube flounder.

This is almost probably entirely off topic, but can someone please tell me how each SSB title has performed in Japan?

Quite good SW performance for 3DS overall.. can't overlook KH3D's though, which has been incredibly bad.

A lot of 3DS games are holding up pretty well, but especially Kid Icarus, Miku and Harvest Moon. The triad doesn't count since we all know it's going to have big legs.

As a small comparison, which may not hold much value:

[PSP] Hatsune Miku: Project Diva - LTD: 187,558 (2009-07-02)
[3DS] Hatsune Miku and Future Stars: Project Mirai - LTD: 132.689 {2012.03.08}

It is not doing that bad. Still far from the releases that came afterward though, but this wasn't a fair comparison to begin with.

Another thing i'd like to point out

[3DS] Mario Kart 7 - 1.649.867 - Week 20
[NDS] Mario Kart DS - 1,288,749 - Week 20

MKDS first week below 15k was its 20th week, with 14,992 units sold.
MK7 first week below 15k was its 16th week, with 14,871 units sold.

Its legs are not as pronounced as MKDS' (by very little), but it had a much, much better first week.

If we wouldn't look at a weekly drop and sales would be about the same ratio (about 30% higher than MKDS) it would take around 117-120 weeks for MK7 to get to MKDS' LTD (which is on it's 170th week, at least on the latest garaph data).

Highly speculative and probably not worth much, but i felt like trying lol.

Edit: Feel free to correct me please D:

And holy shit, but the N64 game sold 1.6 million? WTF? Didn't Nintendo market it as a low budget release?

Vita vs Wii battle reminds me of the golden days of PS3 vs GBA in NPD threads lol.

On the hardware side. At least Wii Software still charts pretty well. The hardware just seems to be tapered off. Its a shame because Japan is the one market where the Wii didn't sell well relative to other regions, yet ironically the Wii was designed with a more Japanese philosophy in mind.

I suppose the portable shift had much to do with it.

I am very happy to see the 3DS do well, and expect good things from it (partly because it would be nice to have a Nintendo system with the first party & third party mega hits on one system, for the first time since the SNES)

But I am sad to see the Vita bomb all over. Hopefully this is just like the PS3 where it eventually picks up steam, because I don't want my own Vita investment to go to waste! For me personally, more PS3 ports would awesome (GoW4 on Vita would be so badass) but ports will not help the Vita in the larger scheme of things. It doesn't look like there is anything going to save this system for some time.

I remember thinking it was some random game Nintendo just made for laughs (I was young at the time so my view on games was skewed somewhat by what I saw on local TV show ads at the time :p) but the draw of all these Nintendo franchises battling it out together was too strong to pass.

I remember everyone on the school grounds talking about how awesome it would be to play Pikachu vs Mario vs Link vs Donkey Kong

Nintendo certainly hit the gold mine with that. Add to the fact I'm sure school grounds all across the world had similar chatter, the face the game was legitimately fun to play (and easy for those of us who are fighting game tards) and its easy to see how Smash Bros has become this mega-franchise. I remember the Gamecube launch was all about Smash Bros Melee, and the Wii launch was a countdown until Brawl came out.

It was a surprise hit, even for them, AFAIK.

That was some surprise hit :lol

I mean, I always knew that it totally exceeded their expectations, but I didn't know to what extent.
I mean, they pretty much never anticipated it would become their next mega franchise, I'm sure.

I actually never played the N64 original until AFTER Melee (at which point, it appeared horribly dated and stripped). Melee itself I would never have bought, except that the ads always featured Captain Falcon prominently, and they would always have the Mute City music playing in the background.

That was pretty much the only reason I ever bought it.

People keep forgetting that Mario & Sonic at the Olympics for the 3DS continues to chart as well. What is it, 4+ weeks in a row now?

And it will likely stick, or drop and make a comeback, once the actual Olympic games start this summer in London

Sega is real smart how they release these Olympics series; get the Mario & Sonic brand power during the holiday season, keep the games selling on strong legs, and then the series has revived interest come the actual coming of the Olympic games

Nope. Looks like the last to for sure pass 200K was Narutimate Hero 3 on PS2, which came out about a month after the last GCN game. Since then the high point is the last PS2 game (N-Ultimate Accelerator 2) which was just shy of 200K after one year of sales. There are a few between 100 and 200 since.

Oh, I loved it. It became like one of my all time favorite games eventually. It still is. I have an old Gamecube in my room, with Melee and Mario Kart, and we play it routinely every evening: it's perfect for college multiplayer life.
The game was incredible, it was flat out perfect. I mean, I like Brawl a lot too, and I don't get most of the hate it gets, but it was nothing on Melee, nothing at all.

Melee single handedly propelled the franchise to system seller status for me. The reason I bought as Wii? Brawl. The reason that, as things stand now, I'm waiting to get a Wii U and not getting it at launch? Because even though it's getting SSB4, so is the 3DS (which I own), which means I have no incentive whatsoever to buy one right now.

I love SSB, and it's all thanks to Melee :)

I need to know what this game is about.

Yūta Segawa is a university freshman who was looked after by his older sister, Yuri, but decided to live alone when Yuri got married. One day, Yūta is asked by Yuri and her husband to babysit their children, Sora, Miu and Hina Takanashi, whilst they go on a trip. However, during this time, the plane Yuri and her husband are riding crashes and they are both reported missing. In order to prevent the girls from being separated from each other, Yūta takes it upon himself to look after the girls in his small dormitory apartment. Thus begins Yūta's life of sharing his everyday life with three other girls.

.

Actually, for all we know, WiiU and 3DS's are going to be two separate games with different features, so I don't see your point.

As far as I'm concerned I hope they can come out with something much better and different than just a "all of the same with updated HD/3D graphics and more extra contents".
