I'm hoping by the time I finish some PSP games they support the promotion PSPgo ones but it doesn't seem likely.

I wish they'd made the back of this thing have tougher plastic.
I've been really careful about where i put it down, yet for some reason its still picked up some nasty scratches.
It usually wouldn't bother me, my itouch rear is a mess, but the fact that its a touchpad scares me shitless that it'll start to get glitchy.

Looking at rear touchpad support so far I wouldn't worry too much ;)

A need a new game. Wipeout or Disgaea 3?

Also, I've never played a Persona game. Which is the best one to start with?

Disgaea has amazing gameplay. But unless you like super wacky japanese storylines, you'll be skipping most the story. Its humorous at times and never takes itself seriously.

There is a demo for Wipeout as well.

Downloaded Unit 13 last night after obsessively playing the demo since it came out. Awesome little game, it plays great!

Finally got the time to play Frobisher Says! and, it was pretty bad tbh. The mini-games themselves weren't too bad, although Warioware ones are better. It's the design choice with how you advance further that bothers me. You can unlock mini-games by obtaining tickets or playing games a number amount of times, like you need to play 300 games to unlock a new one. That's a lot of repeated plays of merely 18-25 games at your disposal? And even within a single playthrough, sometimes you have to repeat the same game 3 times. That's way too excessive. What hurts even more is when you look at the logbook, you have over 50 mini-games to unlock and half of them are payed DLC? It looks like half of the content was taken out of the game and not a mere extra, it shows on the menu selection. And for that, the game is not as free as they claim it to be. Even if the pack costs around 2 euros, it's still not how they advertised the game. Even if the pack was included with the game, it would have been too short but at least I wouldn't complay because then it would be 'free'. Well, I got turned off by the game and deleted it.

I don't mind the free to play model for this game, I just think the micro-games are more frustrating than fun, and nowhere near as good as in its closest competitor. To my surprise, it wasn't the AR stuff that frustrated me - it recognised when I was smiling and when it was pointed at the right colour. It's the rest of the games that are either indicated poorly or just not very fun (that kitten counting one for example.)

Man, complaining because a free game (that is playable as much as you want, not like Montezuma Blitz) has a DLC with 15 new minigames for 2€ total is being too cheap.

You don't need the extra minigames, so you can play it for free. And even if you buy them (that you only need to do if you like the game) is not expensive. Yeah, I want free games without ads, without IAP and even without DLC. But people need to eat, you know.

My only concern about the game is that I can't deactivate the minigames that I don't want. Some of them are terribad or are not duable in certain conditions (requiring microphone or camera, for example).

That's my biggest problem with the game aswell. Atleast the mini-game that requires you to smile lets you skip it when it doesn't detect you. But the color pointing one doesn't. So I was stuck with it when I happened to be playing in the dark. (Don't judge my bed time gaming.)

Lol, Resistance: Burning Skies will be on €44.99 / £39.99 / AUS $62.95 PSN. I was going to download it.

Fuck that, i'll get it on a cart for £10 less. What happened to decent prices on download games?

I'm not really complaining because you have to pay for the DLC, that just comes on top of it when the game forces you to play an x amount of time with the same games in order to unlock new ones, playing them 300 times sounds very tedious and playing the same mini-games in one playthrough for 3 times makes me sick of them quickly. The DLC just makes me more bitter because the base game itself is not convincing or satisfying.

And like DangerousDave mentioned, the games themselves aren't that well designed though some of them were pretty fun. I dunno, overall the game is not that good because of design choices. I would have liked it a whole lot more if you play all the free mini games in the right order and get to choose them from your logbook, where you can play with the ones you want as often as you like.

Montezuma Blitz is totally free. Once you're out of lives, you quit the game and come back and then you have them after a couple of minutes. You pay to unlock stuff quicker in the game but you can unlock everything without paying for anything. And if you have friends, they can send you enough crystals to have more room to purchase things. The game seems like a pretty good example of this type of model.

Does anyone know if Fate Unlimited codes for PSP will work on the Vita? I have seen it on any list as to either it can or can't so I figure somebody here should know.

It works. I actually bought it a few days after I got my Vita. You might need a PS3 to download it, though.

Good to know, it's one of the very few games that I bought digital just so I could play them on the Vita.
It would have been bad if it wasn't compatible...

Thanks for the info!

Well, unlocking things in Montezuma is much harder and repetitive than the minigames of Frobisher. There is one that unlock at 300 (or even 500), but a lot of other minigames are 30, 50 or 100. With a 10 minigames as average on each run, is quite fast. There are a lot of "real payment games" when you need to dig hours to unlock some content or game modes. I played only a few times (not even an hour, with total time combined), and I already have 215 plays.

The first wave were decently priced on PSN. of the 5 PSVita games i own, 4 of them are from PSN (Everybody's Golf, Rayman, wipEout, Unit 13). Doesn't look like they're continuing that, though

True. I was shocked when I saw that Disgaea 3 (a port of a game that launched at 40€ in europe) was 40€, both in digital and retail.

Isn't that up to the publisher rather than Sony, though? I thought Sony mentioned at one point that ALL games were going to be cheaper digitally.

All of Sony's games are like 10% cheaper (although I seemingly don't have to pay sales tax on them either). Ubisoft seemed to be on board with that although who knows what they'll do now that they notice not a single other publisher seems to give a crap.

I just tried the Montezuma game, and it's super addicting. I thought, at first, that it was lame, but as soon as I figured out there was a deeper element with the totems and bonuses.. yeah. That kind of stuff hooks me.

I think they should give more crystals per round. Using the totems etc is wildly expensive if you aren't lucky with the scratchcard.

Okay, both Gran Turismo and Motorstorm AE from the ten free PSPGo games in Europe work on the Vita. I downloaded them again today and they work fine.

Gran Turismo works well on the Vita, much better with the fast display. The PSP colorspace setting might look a bit more realistic with this game.

So Silent Hill: Book of Memories has been delayed to October 31st. I'm sure everyone is as crushed as I am.

The problem I have is that when I preordered this game, I used my $20 vita promotion code from Amazon. If I cancel my preorder on this, can i reuse the code, or will they automatically send me a new one?

I think the code is linked to your account, so when you cancel, it should automatically be reapplied to your next Vita game transaction. Since it was kind of a strange promotion, I guess you could run into issues with the credit disappearing, but you can get in touch with Customer Service to explain the problem. They should be more than happy to fix it for you if you run into a snag.

Yeah, I just got my first powerups after I posted that, and it wasn't until I checked my crystal supply that I realized that the bonuses and totems weren't as great as I expected, because I would run out of crystals in a day's time. :|

No, ass lotion. You can't butter your pooper with medicine.

Great game. I still need to finish the final chapter.
I'm sure she said medicine, not that one or other makes much of a difference in the bizarreness of that sequence! (Not to mention 'dat ass' shortly afterwards)

sure you're not playing 'corpse party'?...
Yes, my bad.

I just got my first wrong end, and I have no idea what to do about it. I guess this is the part where I realise I should be rolling the saves, right?

It's probably better to never use the power ups.

Each time you level up, the power ups will sometimes also level up, making them more expensive to use. The game also does start to throw more crap at you as you level up like more on-screen, chained up blocks.

It's a game that I probably would have spent $5.00 in order to unlock the full version, but I'm going to end up spending nothing on it because only being able to play it for five minutes every 20 minutes or so is not that big of a deal for me.

It's an emulator feature, not a game feature. I imagine it's compatible with any PSP game.

Yes, it is a feature of the PSP emulator.

One feature that I wish they would offer (perhaps in a future firmware update) is to allow each PSP game to store the settings separately. For example, some games look great with bilinear filtering turned on, but others look better if the graphics are left untouched. Then there's the right stick mapping, which shouldn't be the same for every game.

Another thing that I'd like to see is the ability to have PSP games utilize the right stick with special setting determined by the developer. For example, some games use a combination of multiple buttons to control the camera, but these combinations aren't currently supported in the right stick mapping function as it exists now.

I got my Vita in on Tuesday, and I think it's a great handheld. Before today, I've only been able to play demos on it and send messages. I think it feels way better than the PSP did, and I love the screen. There is one annoying thing, though. When I had ordered my PS Vita 3G over the phone from the Sony Store, I was promised to get Uncharted: Golden Abyss for free. It was on their site as a promotion, but I didn't get it along with my Vita. I had been calling them since Tuesday and they kept giving me the run around, till today when I had enough. Today they kept on telling me that there was no such promotion in April, and that I couldn't get the free Uncharted: Golden Abyss. I kept telling them I saw that the promotion was there for a good while, but they didn't believe me. They somehow left the game off of their "promotion board" thing they have. After getting upset about that, I just decided to go ahead and buy Uncharted at Best Buy. I haven't played much of Uncharted, but from what I have it looks great. I love how touch is used in the game, it's pretty neat.

The demos I played have been awesome. I love the Super Stardust demo, and when I finish Uncharted I'm going to have to jump on that. The colors of the game are vibrant, and it feels like the PS3 version but just on a handheld. I also played the Unit 13 demo, and was shocked at how great it felt and how good it looked. The Hustle Kings pool demo was pretty fun as well. Besides that, I had to buy two Hori Screen Protectors. I applied the first one, but the Vita had dust on it that I didn't see before applying the protector, so I had some bubbles that were annoying. I then took that one off and then made sure to clean the whole front before applying the second one. Let me just say, the cloth that comes with the Hori Screen Protector sucks, since it leaves lint behind on the screen. I had to get some shiny like small cloths I had used on my PSP to clean it fully and leave nothing behind. Luckily, that did the job, and now I won't have to worry about messing up the screen.

Also, I have to ask, does anyone's Wifi stop working after a while? I'm just wondering if it's a Vita thing, or if it's my router. I updated my router's firmware and made some changes to the settings last night and it made the speed of Wifi better, but I'm still having the Wifi not work after some time. If it would be a constant connection I would be set, because it loads webpages and the PSN Store pretty snappy. The Vita over Wifi also takes about the same time to download anything from the PSN Store as it does on my PS3, which is nice. When I use Wifi, I usually stick by my router which is in my room, so it's not like I'm far away when it just doesn't want to work. My router does have problems with Wifi, and one of the bug fixes in the latest firmware was for the Wifi, which I thought would cure my problem. If no one else is having this issue, I know that I can eliminate my Vita being the problem. Thanks in advance. :)

That's the only negative in the game, but it's a pretty big one. Not only is it sometimes hard to tell what it is that you've not yet done to miss out on the right path, but you may have screwed something up near the beginning of a chapter! It can take a long time before it leads you to a bad end and may not be instantly recognizable as the wrong thing to do. That alone wouldn't be so bad, but couple it with the way you can't skip dialogue or cutscenes that you've just watched and it gets pretty terrible =[

Finally bought a 32GB memory card today.

Now I just need to find some Minis worth buying. Isn't there a NeoGAF Minis suggestion thread?

Never had any kind of wifi problem with mine. Doesn't rule it out, but I don't remember hearing complaints about it before.

Check your idle timeout to see if it makes a difference. I think you can set as long as 10 minutes.
