i just remembered, what was the significance of that blonde waitress chick? they did one close up of her looking out the window, that lasted like a good 10 seconds, then another close up of her looking at cap, and then finally she did her testimony thing at the end

is she a character or just some producers daughter that wanted some screen time or something? just felt odd seeing her stick out like that, kinda like that one chick that was screaming in slow mo during transformers 1, while jazz (i think) was jumping over her

She's appeared in three different roles on Dollhouse. She's a Whedon regular at this point.

Is this like the hipster opinion on the Batman films or something?

Seriously. Why cant movies stay good? Its like anything that receives a ton of praise and success MUST be shit on 2 years later. TDK is amazing BB is just great. What sets TDK apart from most films is the performance of Joker. Most likely the best villain performance I will ever see. Yeah Bale was better in BB but TDK is transcendent.

Shes also a famous child actor though most on gaf are probably too young to remember her.

She played Chrissy Seaver

ahh okay, that makes sense. i was wondering wtf so much attention would be given to someone who wasnt going to be a new a character or something

Yeah I noticed that too. My theory is that the cap will finally find his dance partner in Captain America 2.

For some reason, I thought they'd play up that it was his granddaughter, or a future love interest.

same, i thought it was a relative or someone that recognized him. a love interest would be nice too. isnt he supposed to get with black widow?

Actually, someone WAS bitching that when Captain America gave Fury 10 bucks, it was because he was used to being in the 40s and was tipping the help.

Haha, both of the friends I saw the movie with thought this exact thing. They were like "Haha, poor Cap, he's so used to being racist and giving Nick Fury 10 bucks."

And then I reminded them about the scene about the bet and they both felt dumb.

But then again it took me 3 viewings to realize the irony/awesomeness of Tony Stark wearing the Black Sabbath shirt. At first I was just thinking "Oh that's cool, he listens to Sabbath." Derp.

No.
It was just more fun, training stuff was awesome, no characters overshadowing others(Joker), better batsuit, batvoice wasn't so bad.
Begins is a better Batman movie, TDK a better movie. imo

That's funny. I always thought Begins was boring as fuck and dragged on with an awful villain. Bale isn't some fantastic Batman, so without a good villain (scarecrow was ok, Neeson was not) it's just another batman origin story, but dragged out to the Nth degree in terms of how long and boring it was.

TDK is objectively excellent.

I think most super hero stories are only interesting when it's an origin story. Seeing the character build itself and master his powers (or whatever is Batman's equivalent) never gets old and that's what makes each hero different. While a movie where the hero is already well-rounded is basically about the villain and his evil schemes, and most of them aren't very good.
I must admit I wasn't convinced by Ledger's impersonation of the Joker, I think Dent/Two-Face was a better character (more central to the plot, too).
Avengers may be slightly different, even if it's the origin of a group ; although we already know each hero, we see most of them interact for the first time, so that's new too.

Opinions aren't objective, and TDK is inferior to BB in every since except "has Heath Ledger in it".

BUT HOW 'BOUT THEM AVENGERS?!

Exactly how I feel. I'm blown away by how accepted it all is when I think back to how looked down upon it was as a kid.

It is our time now, we must seize it!

OK, maybe it isn't but the characters and logos are fashionable now. You see people that wouldn't dare read comics but they would gladly wear a shirt with the Superman logo on it. Not that I am complaining.

Just got back. Good movie. Amazing ability to give all actors lots of screen time and lots of heroes do their thing. It did seem a bit like "Iron man and friends" movie, but it may be just because he killed all his scenes and I remember him the most.

Only thing that bothered me was some of the stupid one liners. Dark knight is one of the only comic movies that managed to avoid them in I remember right

Comic book fans, no need to dwell in your parents basement any longer, you are now socially accepted. Girls will throws themselves at you upon realized your comic book prowess, they will clamor to taste the beads of sweat that run from your fatted brow, they will dine upon the pieces of food that stain your clothes and claim it a banquet.

NOW IS YOUR TIME, COMIC BOOK FANS. GO OUT INTO THE WORLD AND LIVE!

That's just how it goes. I feel like nerdy things have inherently enjoyable qualities to them, but they get caught with a stigma that makes people look down on them.

When someone figures out how to overcome that stigma and present these things to a wider audience, though? Shit fuckin' explodes. See: Lord of the Rings, Star Trek, The Dark Knight, Avengers, Game of Thrones.

YES, to bad he's like 44 and doesn't have alot of time left before time catches up with him.

But like 10 years ago shit would have been perfect.

If Samuel L Jackson can play a pretty physical depiction of Nick Fury at 65 then Jai White can be an intense Black Panther at 44.

LOL a light jog isn't being physical.

Weasly said Blade 3 was his last cause he couldn't take the strain of it any more and he is only 5years older.

You wanna get somone who can keep it up for at least a decade, unless you only want a one off appearance then Mike should be fine.

I just want him to do a Black Panther movie and Avengers 2 and 3 and I'll be happy. MJW can do it!

It sucks that he's only now becoming known

lol I was wondering what the deal with the waitress at the end was. I googled her name after my first screening to see if she was someone important to Captain Americas mythos that escaped my mind.

Still love the movie. My only real problem was with ironman bringing the team together instead of Cap... even the motivation Fury provides was meant for Cap. I guess stark has been in the story longer and it makes more sense for him to be the one... still it rubs me the wrong way.

Also, fuck the Loki haters. Seriously.

Man I feel like a hipster now. I can't believe people didn't know the wonders of shawarma before this movie.

I admit I didn't know. Though I've already gone to try it!

I wonder what Loki will do in future movies. Teaming up with Thor and redeeming himself has never been his thing, and he's not gonna be the main villain anymore, but I'm sure Hiddleston will get more screentime. He said he'll end up looking like a magical elk after all!

About Loki's adoption:

Am I the only one who thinks that being adopted is in fact a very big part in his character development into a wannabe fratricidal and genocidal dickhead?

I got the impression in Thor's movie that finding out that he's different and not really Odin's son was what make him resent Thor's position as the older brother and that this jealousy made him try to prove himself a worhty son/king by disabling his father, getting his brother killed and/or exiled and wipe out a planet of his own kin. The usual stuff, you know.

I don't know anything about comoc book Loki, just going by the way his movie actions were shown.

How you can something besides "whelp, we're not that related, don't blame me" out of the joke, though, I don't know.
