Akai Katana finally showed up today, 1.2 gig install.

The freebie t-shirt from ShopTo is a Large Gildan softstyle. It's going to +5 my sad prat stat when I wear it.

Hail, peons, for I have come as ambassador from the great and bountiful Blueberry Butt Explosion
I actually got a $50 VISA gift card for my birthday last week, so despite my funds being a little tight at the moment, I decided to preorder Akai Katana from Amazon. I don't know when I'll be able to play, though, considering Diablo 3 is going to be ruling my life next week.

I'll just have to make time.

Just in case anyone is still on the fence about Akai Katana. Source.

Also giving serious thought to splurging on the game's artbook. I hope this artist does more games in the future.

Noo! I've to wait until next month for Akai Katana. Have been waiting since the announcement from RSG and now I have no money due to a lot of unexpected expenses lately..

Just ordered Akai Katana. Played the demo and loved it. Can't wait.

Someone needs to make an OT, this game definitely deserves one and there should be a decent audience since this is getting a simultaneous release in the US and Europe.

Amazon Pre-ordered AK :D Soooo pumped.
Also bought DDP Resurrection for 25 bucks shipped from the UK(I am in the US) :D.
And about to buy Espgaluda II for the hell of it.

What are the odds of Akai Katana becoming rare? I'm a little strapped for cash right now and would rather wait a bit. Plus I'm up to my neck in underplayed Cave games and wont be touching this for awhile.

Slim. Minimum print run for 360 games is 50,000 units. Look how common Deathsmiles still is.

That's ok, I'll allow it. =P

Much appreciated. I don't think it's crazy to adore a game, but adore something else more. :p

So how does the scoring work in AK? Also, is there an achievement list out? I'm curious if it's the same as the JP version.

Pretty sure the arcade correct layout is:

Shot Bomb Rapid-Shot
Hyper

Though I see a lot of people swapping Bomb and Hyper.

Thanks!

How difficult is survival in Akai Katana compared to Futari/DDP Res? I watched that French "1-Sissy" video and the systems probably seemed a little more complicated than they are, being described by a non-native english speaker. I really need to start learning the game though, looks really fun.

AKS is easier for sure. The mechanics are a bit more complicated, but the bullet patterns/frequency/bosses are easier. I'm not even an awesome player, and it took me about 50 hours to 1CC AK Arcade mode.

Right, but with ddp it was the same. And dtp wasn't insolvent at that point. I'm pretty sure RSG didn't ship them, yet. Or pressed enough copies to sell outside of the uk today.

Seems kind of hard to judge from the outside. I remember the delay with DDP, but I think that at least was only one week. The situation with Akai Katana is somewhat different, since you can't even be sure that dtp will still release this.
There's an OT for Akai Katana by the way.

Sorry, it's just a teacup set. But if you can't understand... you probably aren't able to order from the store either.

3250 yen down from 5000. I think it's a good buy, I'm not all that into Cave merchandise but it's nice to see some of practical use.

Big Cave time for everybody around the world with AKS releasing in multiple territories, Mushi in Japan, and Saidaioujou already in arcades. Hoping folks might take some time to list their top five Cave games (regardless of platform).

If you've played DDP Saidaioujou, would it even slot in?

Here are mine:

1) Mushi Futari (XBOX 360)
2) Espgaluda II (iOS)
3) Espgaluda (PS2)
4) Donpachi (Saturn, PS)
5) Ibara Kuru (PCB)

All I know is that DDP Daifukkatsu is my favorite. Love the scoring system and bullet patterns and dat 5th level is so fun. I've probably put the most time into Ibara or Espgaluda, but I enjoy Daifukkatsu a lot more.

By the way Yes Boss!, I also like the original Donpachi more than Dodonpachi. Thought I was the only one.

Yeah, love love love the original Donpachi...otherwise I'm pretty blase on the Donpachi series. Game lives on my PSPs and PS3.

Honestly, my favorites are the ones I've played the most...with the exception of the Ibaras, which I've played very little, but am obsessed with their art.

I'm expecting AK to one of my favorites, and have high hopes for the og Mushi.

Futari (1.5 + BL, though if I had to choose one I'd go with 1.5)
Dodonpachi Daioujou Black Label
Akai Katana Shin
Death Smiles II
Espgaluda II (or maybe Ketsui)

Just based on what I've had the most fun with so far.

Danny Dudekisser

I paid good money for this Dynex!
Top 5 for me in no particular order is:

Mushihimesama Futari 1.5
Ketsui
Dodonpachi Daioujou
Mushihime
Espgaluda II

Sadly, I've never played Dodonpachi, though I get the impression I'd like it a lot. I also haven't played Deathsmiles, though I've got it.

I'm liking Akai Katana so far, but I've only had it for about 5 hours so I dunno how I feel about it yet, obviously.

Here´s my personal Cave Top 5.

1. Espgaluda II.
2. DoDonPachi Daifukkatsu Black Label.
3. Mushihimesama Futari Black Label.
4. Ketsui Kizuna Jigoku Tachi.
5. Guwange.

I want to get Ibara in there, but that feels more like a Yagawa STG than a Cave title, if that makes any sense.
