I did what Sysgen recommended and pieced together a valid install from my four SSF4AE downloads. I actually had 3 files which were deemed corrupt by the installer.

I love Amazon but it sucked and made for an unpleasant experience. Thanks for the help.

Franky, Gamersgate has the same issues.

Yep I saw a few links to Gamersgate when I was researching the error.

I totally agree with that, as soon as we get the Hasbro RPG's I plan on trying to put something together similar to what you've got above. The Forgotten Realms game you listed as an underrated gem is pretty awesome from what I remember. It has been years since I've played it.

I've also played around with various packs from some of our smaller publishers like these guys:

http://www.amazon.com/s/ref=bl_sr_v...node=468642&field-brandtextbin=Amaranth Games

I'm still trying to gather more sales velocity data from our broad sales to see if I think I could make a pack worthwhile, and what price point I'd need to get it to in order to make it work.

Cheers,
Tony

Cool. I was just checking my promotional balances because I thought I had some video on demand balance (which I don't), but I learned I have $10 of software/gaming downloads that I didn't know I have.

BONUS!!!

So after several months my account just got activated, and I want to say for my first post, thank you Tony for the amazing things you're doing.

Amazon, not steam, was what got me into DD purchases. I was suspicious and cautious at first with buying digital anything, but your services really turned my outdated opinions around. since February, I've bought hundreds of dollars buying only digital games from amazon and i'm excited for what you guys will have in store for next weeks (possible) summer sale.

Sweet mother of all that is holy! Was waiting for a Dragon Age steam sale, but this will do nicely. Thanks for the heads up Tony.

Word :) glad you're digging the deals and the service. We definitely don't have everything perfect yet but we're constantly working on it!

Regarding next week, right now we only have the Dragon Age stuff planned. The next major promotional event outside of our deal of the week will start in early July. I'll keep the thread updated with what's coming up.

Sweet mother of all that is holy! Was waiting for a Dragon Age steam sale, but this will do nicely. Thanks for the heads up Tony.

:) sweet. Fun fact, when I was interviewing for this job I wanted to get a feel for what our service looked/felt like as a customer so I purchased and downloaded Dragon Age Origins: Ultimate Edition, and spoke about the process at length during my interview.

I always enjoy when this game does well as a result, I feel like I have some sort of weird connection to it.

Dragon Age Pack is live. Go nuts :). Midnight here, playing a game of LoL and then going to sleep. Will check back in tomorrow if any of you have questions.

Night everyone!

Cheers,
Tony

I am not buying new every again.

Ever. Again.

Steam and Amazon just keep rolling out the punches.

I love what amazon is doing, not just because of the deals (those are great though), but also because of the wider impact of their efforts. Personally I think that it's healthier for the marketplace and overall PC ecosystem when distribution and community/online features are decoupled.

Of course, it also helps that it's really easy to participate in the deals as a European, please don't "fix" that.

No steam, no buy. I really don't care what EA's reasons are, they need to give the option or I'll continue to buy games that aren't theirs. Voting with my wallet never felt so good.

I'd much prefer an Amazon-only client if a client is needed. I just don't want to bother with that messy Steam client anymore. Start the offline mode? Sorry, you need an internet connection for that. Game saves? Sometimes only available when in online mode...

You can turn off cloud saves for every single game and offline mode works 100% for me. I assume you're doing the same "mistake" everybody does and don't deactivate your network in Windows/remove your LAN cable. It isn't explained correctly but I never had a problem this way.

this is a great deal for both games but no steam = no sale

I fucking hate myself for that but Origin fucking sucks.

You can add it to your steam library as a non steam game, no need for Origin, you'll have access to the Steam overlay. The only difference with purchasing on Steam is that you install and update through the Steam client, with the Amazon version you'll download the installer from Amazon.

Your welcome. Perhaps our man Tony can get you a credit or a promotional coupon for your time, your aggravation and any additional bandwidth costs associated with your experience.

I really don't want amazon to have a client if that's what you're saying.

Amazon has no interest in making their own client and being EA basically. They've found it much more profitable and in their interest to do what they're doing now and that's just sell games. At least that's the explanation we were told when this issue came up a while ago.

edit: Also wtf I have a tag now, and I have no idea what it means.

I just posted in the Steam threads yesterday about how Im new to the whole PC gaming thing cause I have been a console gamer all my life.

Since Wednesday, I have a brand new PC that is quite powerful (not top of the line, but miles ahead of what I always used to have). Since then, I have already bought Rome - Total War Gold, Deus EX - HR and....

I just bought DA2.

Like I also said yesterday, my poor poor wallet. :p

I think I need to stop coming to these threads till I get paid again. XD

I'm sure there's someone on GAF who loves almost every game with the tag "yang" ;)

Well I'm definitely not a female so I guess I see what they did there. Ohhh well.

Shinobi. It has to be him, I can't think of anyone more appropriate.

edit: Haha I was right.

For me it doesn't. Most recently, my Limbo save file completely disappeared...
I've turned off the cloud saves but still it's always saying that it needs to synchronise them.

And what do you mean with deactivating my network? I only use WLAN and don't always know when I've got internet or not as I'm not always at the same locations.

Steam is the worst software I've been forced to use since iTunes for Windows.

The Limbo savegame thing is weird, I never had that problem happen to me with Steam Cloud, only GFWL. I guess it was a case of conflicting saves? Look for it in \Steam\userdata\<some number>\48000\remote

Do you have a WLAN switch on your laptop? Next time offline mode doesn't work, turn it off that way so it doesn't look for networks. As I said, 100% success-rate for me.

What are you talking about? It's not like you have to use origin... I'm not sure what origin has to do with anything.

i wonder the same thing. you know you can add any game you want to your steam library (even non-supported steam games) and just launch them from within steam. the only thing you lose out on is steam achievements

I don't see how there could be conflicting saves when the only thing I did way starting Limbo in the usual way. It's completely gone and a new save was created instead. But still thanks for telling me where the save files are. Can I copy my Psychonauts save file from that folder and use it for the DRM-free version now?

Also, your solution for offline mode is not working for me. I always switch off WLAN when on train to save energy, still I run into that problem.

I much prefer no Steam or anything like that. I don't play multiplayer games on PC or care about achievements, thus I don't know anything about the Steam community stuff. It's great when games can be started immediately. gog.com knows how to get that done.

I never played either of the Dragon age games so I bought the dual pack. I always heard the PC version was way better.

Interface wise it's completely different from the console versions and you have much more control over the camera. It started as a PC game and it shows.

I assumed you switched Steam Cloud off halfway through, my bad.

That location is for Limbo specifically, and only Cloud saves are stored that way. Psychonauts should have this number: http://store.steampowered.com/app/3830/ --> 3830

Hm, I tried it and it worked for me. I have no idea why so many people have issues with offline mode and it's something Valve has to fix ASAP. I can also see why you would prefer to stay Steam-free when you aren't that invested in the community aspects and multiplayer.
