Sony reveals new PSN store

It looks like a nice improvement to me, the small squares of the PSN are nice, but they always take forever to load, this one seems more text based, so browsing between different categories should be signifiantly faster. I'll miss the blue theme though, I love the color blue, and the PSN has been blue forever.

y'all should be ashamed
Jeez this & the other statements about next generation stuff are became so irrational & stupid, lately. Seems the industry needs to stop until the next generation will arrive. We talk of next generation when the console are here, now we can only play with the current.

Reminds me of some people saying "why are they introducing Trophies at this point? They need to wait for next gen, it's way too late now!"

I just don't get people sometimes.

That costs $60 a year.

Hah!

This is a pretty good list. Not sure why Sony doesn't implement these things and they should be constantly harassed about it. The demos they would have to mandate developers do it though. I really want to change my PSN ID.

I've been saying for years that Sony can make millions overnight for very little effort if they allow PSN ID changes and charge $10 for it (like a certain other company already does).

I'm an expert

Formerly worldrevolution. The only reason I am nice to anyone else is to avoid being banned.

Not that I agree with that statement since I love trophies, but at that time, you can see what someone who said that would be thinking. Trophies were made mandatory in 2009. By then the system was out for 3 years. Before this generation console cycles were very short, usually 3-5 years. A person back then could have been thinking this console gen was more than halfway finished.

Take note sony. Needs more losing to cover the losing.

I told ya before you're becoming my fav poster but shit like this might change that.

Sorry, but what did you said not sounds logic to me. When ps4 will be in my hands I will be very happy to see a lot of announcement but for now, I don't care of next generation. It's a project on the paper, no more. I prefer to talk of concrete things. Anyway I don't understand why people has so worried about next generation status; I think sony or microsoft know perfectly what to reserve for the new console.

Sony should get Reznor to do the bleeps and bloops when you click on shit and purchase it. It could be a one minute soundtronic orgasm everytime your download is complete.

Sony Pictures did distribute and release The Social Network and The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo. So, yeah. It could happen.

Oh fuck! :lol :lol

Please, for the love of god, tell me they removed the "beeping" sound that used to play every time you selected or went back in the store? I honestly preferred xbox just because of this god awful noise.

Me too actually. We are not alone, there was a thread on the US PS forums about it. I really can't comprehend the thinking of the people at SCE. You'd think stuff like that would be blatantly obvious, so I can only guess there is some technical limitation or they are just incompetent.

And a web interface so I can browse and buy things from my PC that will automatically download on my PS3. Imagine being at work when the store updates and being able to start the downloads on your PS3 at home so they're ready when you get home.

You can already do that with remote play can't you?

But yeah I would like a web store that quells downloads to begin the next time I turn my PS3 on.

I never once had a problem with the existing one. Was fast, easy to use, looked fine to me.

With that said, I like the changes.... fresh look is always good.

I don't think the current store looks bad, but I wish the Vita PS Store would see a redesign. With that said, I like the black background of the new store instead of the blue we have currently. The metro look I wish didn't exist, but I'll get used to it, I suppose. I can't wait for the new look to be released so I can look around it and see if it feels better than what we have now.

Combovers don't work when there is no hair
I meant like actual, physical wars. Like we'll have PMC's and shit fighting over shapes.

Samsung Snake is sent on a covert op to infiltrate and take down Outer Honeycrisp, the base belonging to Pommes Sans Frontières, a paramilitary organization set up and led by the legendary hero Big Jobs.

So does every game now have a mandatory video or at least screen shots? NEver understood how Sony expected you to buy some shit sight unseen.

Haven't read his posts for a while, what did he predict this time?
No prediction just posting what's been released that might impact the PS3.

RELEASE: GStreamer 1.0.0

WebKitGTK+ 1.10.0 released!

- Beta version of the WebKit2 GTK+ API:
WebKitGTK+ 1.10 includes a beta version of the WebKit2 high-level GTK+
API.
There isn't any backwards compatibility guarantee yet, but the
current API is unlikely to change. The API is not yet complete for a
full featured web browser, but is more than enough for applications that
use a smaller part of the API.
We encourage every application for which
there's already enough API to be ported to WebKit2.

- Accelerated Compositing support:
WebKitGTK+ 1.10 includes support for accelerated compositing, which
allows for 3D CSS transformations, as well as hardware accelerated
animations.

- Port GStreamer backend to 1.0 API:
The Media player backend has been ported to the GStreamer 1.0 APIs. For
the time being we keep supporting the GStreamer 0.10 APIs as well.
Support for 1.0 can be enabled at build time using with the configure
option --with-gstreamer=1.0. The WebAudio backend is not ported yet to
the new APIs so if you need to use this experimental backend (which is
not enabled by default yet) you need to make sure to build with
GStreamer 0.10 support.

- MHTML support:
Now WebkitGTK+ based applications can load pages saved in the MHTML
format. Additionally, WebKit2GTK+ based applications will also be able
to save web pages using this format thanks to the newly added API for
that purpose.

- Geolocation support is now enabled by default.

- The LLInt (Low-Level Interpreter) for JSC is now enabled.

- Notable bug fixes:
+ The default Enchant spell checker now recognizes English
contractions.
+ Input method support is greatly improved and the IME events sent to
JavaScript more closely match other browsers.
+ Accessibility support has been further enhanced making it possible
for screen readers to provide more complete and more accurate
information.

That's not a pointing device. And he's also not navigating menus with few choices where a simple button press would take you half way across the screen. Or open a new menu.

So does every game now have a mandatory video or at least screen shots? Never understood how Sony expected you to buy some shit sight unseen.

Pretty much every game has a preview button with either screenshots or a video now.

While I like the new look, I never really had a problem with the old look either. My main issue's were the sorting of content, the ability to refine searches, speed, and to link all content for one game together. It looks like they may have fixed that. The download list is another peeve of mine, but at least they've acknowledged it and plan on improving things

And I like the beep!

If that menu in the 1st pic is what pops up when you hit triangle then its already a huge improvement. Always hate how long it takes to back out of menus to the main page.

I now have almost read everything on GAF, almost.

"OMG, a beep sound! My head is going to explode! Xbox for life"

well i dont use xbox because of it but i do turn off the sounds on my set. the beeping sound is HORRIBLE. It always sounds like an error sound no matter what you do. Basic UI design, make confirmation sounds subtle and positive.

What about the things it actually needed?

screenshots on all games
video preview on all games
demo on all games
online store accessible from a PC/Web Browser
remote starting of downloads
gift games to people
change PSN ID

This list should be stapled to the forehead of every PSN employee.

So they have a section for each game with the demo, full game, and any DLC bunched up, and it also displays the size of the game

That alone is a massive improvement.

Sony continuing with the "Let's let Microsoft and Nintendo innovate, and then we'll ape that shit and make it better" strategy.

I'm okay with this.

Have a fun! Enjoy!
That's not a pointing device.

A pointing device doesn't require to aim down the sights to point at something.

And he's also not navigating menus with few choices where a simple button press would take you half way across the screen. Or open a new menu.

Of course the new store was designed with the limitations of a traditional controller in mind. This doesn't mean it wouldn't benefit from pointer controls to some degree.

Besides, it would be nice to access the store from a Move game (say, Sports Champions - no Navi) to buy DLC or whatever and be able to actually do that without having to pick up the DS3 (or the navi).

Xbox Live: Playstation Addition

I wish they would update the Vita Store too. I want screenshots with my game previews.

hope they switch the keyboard to the type Steam uses in big picture mode, haven't used it but anything seems better than what they have now. Happy they're at least improving the search.
