The Eyes on the Road sticker that flashed by briefly has Opa-Opa as the image. I don't know if that means anything good or bad for his chances, though.

25 minutes of footage. Afterburner!
I'd rather see flat shaded Sarah driving that around. :3Only just realised... why wouldn't Danica be racing in the Virtua Racing open-wheeler? Opportunity missed. Seeing an ultra-low poly car cruising around could've been awesome.
Please tell me there's a new JSR level.

There's a new one, and a returning one from the original.
This is a wiki page for the game that outlines everything known, as it is announced. Characters, tracks, gameplay features, etc.
Say S0L if you're reading this thread I was hoping you could answer this:
Any chance for a 'Random select' option when selecting your character? I don't think many Kart racing games over the past years featured such an option. it'd be good for those that are comfortable with playing as any of the characters in the game.
I'm generally lurking in here
We do have a random option on the character select BTW. So that's your box ticked.
On the topic of characters, something you're probably not all aware of (that I've posted on the SEGA forums and SSMB) is that the so called 'Secondary' characters are ones we added without any extra budget when we moved to 10 players in a race. So when complaining about MeeMee, bear in mind we added her for free effectively to round out the pack with more females, but getting a slight leg up by taking some assets from SST.
We still had to design and build transforming vehicle, do a load of animation, create a specific All-Star move and more. As much as you might not like her as a choice, the alternative was less characters. I'm sure no-one wants that
We try and cram in as many characters as we can, but realistically, if I asked in here what people wanted, I'd get a 100 different answers from a 100 different people. It's impossible to please everyone!
Oh and on the choice of Danica's drive, that's a vehicle we designed in house. Wait till everything is revealed before claiming missed opportunities

It all runs under full physics, whether car, boat or plane. We wanted to do this so the behaviour was more predictable, since last time we cheated and faked a lot of it. It adds a whole heap of depth of control as a side effect, plus it means you'll got consistent vehicle behaviour.
The water also is a dynamic surface, so waves affect the boats, splashes and explosions too. Between the physics there and the rendering (making water look like water means a lot of effects!) this is why we opted for a capped framerate of 30. In order to get to 60, we'd have to pull back on the graphical look of the game a lot, and when we're doing a whole new engine to make it look as good as it does, you have to make this compromise.
No-one complained about the framerate at Play Expo at any rate

I just noticed Ryo Hazuki isn't in the listing.
I am at work and unable to post a GIF to show how glad I am about this =DI'm generally lurking in here

I suppose it's too early to start panicking about his non-inclusion (because it could turn out he is in), but still, that'd be a shame.

WE're getting a bit too close to the Superstars Tennis lineup:
Honestly? Probably want more female drivers. There were basically two in the original -- Amy and Ulala, and Zobiko (with Zobio driving)
I keep begging for Vita info on Twitter account, but the man is a locked vault.
Come on, S0L. You're much more responsive than SEGA.
There's no link in your post. He's already said that SEGA is preventing anyone from speaking a word about either of the handheld versions....
I understand why the console version is a capped 30 FPS, but will the PC version allow 60 FPS? Higher resolution textures, different rendering settings and such were mentioned about two pages ago, so I'm hopeful.
And I might as well ask, Stereoscopic 3D?
Wow never noticed that, no wonder thunderhead made it to this game.
Sorry thought I hit edit didn't try to double post.

The Thunderhead in Transformed is amazingly better looking than the Tennis one. He looked like a plastic toy in Tennis.
Same goes for Alex Kidd between Tennis and Racing 1.
I'm honestly just more sad at the fact that the roster is more identical and that they are reusing him from that game than Tyris who was obviously more popular and has her own game. After seeing that the game seems like a giant roster swap, seems sega doesn't really have the budget to pull off a bigger roster with more variety.
...we don't talk about that =x
Sonic 2006 is the Godwin's law of gaming discussion =P
I just had a thought: Given this is done by Sumo, they should include an Outrun 2 minigame. Or the full version of Outrun 2 (SP kinda felt off compared to it IMO).
Or any reference to Outrun at all other than Flagman. Like the little cartoon Ferrari or a track with those big, square, concrete gate things. And Splash Wave.
I just want more Outrun.
BTW I hope those preorder bonuses are available for the PC one as well. I'm not sure what the "stickers" are, but it'd better get those too, damnit.
I wonder. They're not pre-order bonuses, they're "first edition" bonuses, meaning you'll probably be able to find copies with the extra content months after release.
I wonder.
Will the DD version on the Wii U eshop have these bonuses?
Wait... has it been confirmed this will be released on the Wii U eshop?

You have to remember it is hard pleasing the fanboys and haters. Personally I'm just happy there is a new game coming out as the last one is my favorite racer this gen. So whatever character that makes it in there doesn't bother me.
Oh okay, I thought I read "preorder" somewhere. I could've looked like a right ass by mistaking one of those things for the other. They're not pre-order bonuses, they're "first edition" bonuses, meaning you'll probably be able to find copies with the extra content months after release.
It isn't hard. Just put every awesome Sega character in there, don't have any superfluous appearances just to sell the game. You have to remember it is hard pleasing the fanboys and haters. Agreed here its sad but we'll all live i'm sure. That said the roster won't really turn that many people away by this being a sonic game and a kart racer.Yeah, this isn't a Playstation All-Stars scenario, where all the big fan-requested characters are owned by other companies--Sega's got more than enough characters to provide a varied, diverse roster on its own, so it's disappointing to see so many doubles.
Is this confirmed to actually have DLC?If so thats great and I'd take that over not having the character at all.I understand the practical reasons for the roster--less work and more characters to flog via DLC

Bam.

I understand the practical reasons for the roster--less work and more characters to flog via DLC--but I worry that the underwhelming roster is gonna discourage a lot of people from playing at all.
That being said, I think having diverse tracks is far more important than a varied roster, so I'm happy in that respect. I just hope there's a PSO track somewhere, or an Ecco track, maybe.
When it comes to development studios, there is a thing called time and money. You may think it's easy just to add these characters but believe its not. I use to be in the same mindset before I actually started working in the industry. For a publisher like Sega, they don't have the money or the development time to put all the characters fans want into the game unlike Sony has.
