So AGAIN, I just think it's interesting that people are allowed to be port begging for PC, and it's really not that big of a deal.

But when someone even asks if there's a Wii U version, there's flaming, ban threats, etc etc. What the deuce, people?
You're wrong. The mods said it's fine. For example:

Oh guys, it's sucks this isn't confirmed for the Wii U, no sale guys, I'm so angry.
Thinking about it, I should clarify. The mods themselves for the most part do a pretty good job. They struck down on port begging in the Bayonetta 2 thread. What I don't like, is the general community...even in THIS thread, dissing on Nintendo fans asking if there's a Wii U version of the game, but not even batting an eye towards the hoards of "master race" folks begging for a PC version. That type of shit aint cool, that's all. Let's be consistent.
You seriously don't see why that's completely different?

I'm honestly surprised more publishers don't delay their PC releases.

- Many PC gamers also have consoles, and will double-dip on big titles if the PC release is delayed (see this thread for proof).

- Piracy on the PC is quick and easy compared to most consoles, so delaying the PC release inevitably means delaying easy piracy, which probably helps sales.

But yeah, anyone who thinks GTA V won't eventually show up to PC is crazy. Rockstar knows the market is there.

PC port begging is always going to be around. They get away with the excuse of 'just wanting mod support'. So, sorry Nintendo guys, but they'll always show up in these threads.
lol chartz data...

You realize the NPD doesn't track digital right?

Going from Bethesda's released numbers, comparing against NPD data, and looking at the sheer amount of players that were concurrent on Steam I would say Skyrim had a ridiculous amount of buyers on the PC.

I don't like the game very much, but it was quite popular.

lol can we stop bringing up digital if no one's going to bother telling how well it does? it just seems like the most bullshit-i-win argument. 'Valve doesn't release digital sales numbers, but the game publisher company's still around, so it probably sold a billion copies'

Hence why I made the second post augmenting my stance.

So, are you really arguing that there's a difference between Nintendo fans port begging and PC fans port begging? I certainly hope that's not what you're insinuating.

Yes, that is exactly what I'm insinuating, I thought I was just stating it, but evidently not.

I don't know anyone in real life (i.e. not on GAF) who does this. Most gamers don't have that kind of disposable income or care to own two versions of the same game.

I do. Especially GTA. I will be buying it day 1 for both 360 and PS3. Then again when it releases for PC. I do it every time. I like to keep one unopened as well.

Every single GTA has been on the PC. How many main line GTA games have their been on Nintendo home systems? Questioning a PC port makes sense, questioning a WiiU port does not going by history of previous games.

So then, you're part of the problem. Got it. At least you're being honest about it. That's really sad.

For everyone else, let's stay consistent, please. Hopefully (as was mentioned earlier) the mods will keep up that level of consistency.

The history of the franchise of the system doesn't have anything to do with allowing one set of people to port beg and not the other. Every call of Duty game has been on a Nintendo platform except for Modern Warfare 2. When Nintendo fans were port begging for that game for Wii, were we cool with that? I doubt it.

It should be consistent regardless of the game or the platform.

I know a few, but your experiences, mine, and this thread are admittedly all small, biased samples. The piracy argument is a strong one though.

On the same note, no GTA game in the last 10 years has been day and date on PC and console. So people expecting an announcement today should be similarly out of line.
Certainly true. I don't know if the PC version of 4 was announced the same day as the other two, so I don't know if we should have expected the announcement of a PC SKU today, or later, but either way I expected it to release later.

I pointed this out eariler and as someone responded to me the last time a PC version of GTA came out day and date was last century.

GTA4 PC was announced in August 2008 for the PC. That was several months after it was already released on the PS3 and 360.

Will buy day one for console.

Might double dip down the road for an ICE enhanced GTA V.

I waited for the PC release of SA and never played it on console. I won't make that mistake again. It's not worth waiting.

Agreed. I'm going to get this on PC day 1 as well but will upgrade my PC a little after so I can have a PC that can handle an icenhancer mod flawlessly.

I want to play it on PC or Wii U. It will come out on PC eventually and I hope Reggie holds on to his promise to bring GTA to a Nintendo home system.

Fair enough, but if you really need to play I would assume you probably have a friend with a console, right?

Yeah, and I have all the current gen consoles too. I just don't want to pay $60 for a game I'd much rather have on my PC. Maybe my attitude will change when it actually releases and the hype convinces me otherwise. But with the trend of all other Rockstar games released lately getting PC ports, this should get the same treatment. It's Grand Theft fucking Auto, their largest IP. Yet Max Payne and L.A. Noire are the title's with PC ports.

Oh and I double dipped on gtaIV. Of course at the time I wasn't sure there'd be a PC version and I eventually picked it up on Steam for like 7 bucks after selling my PS3 copy for like $20.

Well I guess my hopeful thinking for a late 2012 (lol) release has been dashed, but awesome. I hope R* start ramping up the media soon though, and I'd love to see a few gameplay trailers ala Red Dead/Max Payne 3.

QFT. Long time Rockstar fan here just being fucked. This is ridiculous.

It's the one I was looking forward to the most, and I don't want the console version.

If you were a long time Rockstar fan then surely you'd recognise that a GTA game launching on consoles first is not a new thing, and was the most likely outcome judging on past releases?

Understandable if this was a new thing, but separate releases have been occurring for over a decade now.

I wonder if R*s offices are suddenly drenched in GTA5 posters and things, as if it's coming on Xmas, and decorations appear over night, one morning everyone turns up at the office and it's been redone.

PC version will come out, but anybody who thought for a second that this game would be developed primarily for PC or to take advantage of higher quality on PC is deluding themselves, even more so than the people who seriously thought that GTAV would be a "Fall 2012 release," or that GTA5 was going to be a next gen launch game.

GTA's bread and butter is console. It is a huge console release and has been since GTAIII. While every PC version of the game has been better than the console game, the focus has been on the console first and then porting it to the PC, and then usually patching it shortly there after.

I'm hoping that the game is released on PC, and I'm begging that they not pull a Red Dead Redemption. Even as someone who does not have a PC capable of really appreciating that game, I would have loved the high res screen shots and mods years later. But just as it's so obvious and expected that GTA5 is console-first and console-centric, it seems very obvious to me that it will get a PC release and it will not be like RDR.

They probably just, legitimately, do not know when it's going to hit PC. Hell, right now, we've just gotten a rough estimate of when it will hit consoles ("Spring 2013"), so that they haven't pinned a date for PC or an announcement for PC is no surprise.
