I see the opposite. Her XIII outfit looks the most agile, while every outfit after it looks clunkier than the last, with LR's enormous shield taking the cake.

Yes, i was comparing it to XII2's with the agile comment.
What shield though? That red thing on the left shoulder isn't a cape?

Well, at least the rest of the game looks as embarrassing as her terrible outfit.

Square, cancel this and fire everyone involved. For your own sake.

Hopefully Japanese and North American audiences can send a message by not buying this game at launch.
It's the only way Square Enix will learn.
If this outsells FFXIII-2's meager numbers, we're fucked.

Nope. That's a gigantic shield that's 3/4 her size and is magically floating on her arm. That's where the GUNDAM comparisons are coming from.

Her outfit looks like originally she was designed to be wearing more clothing, but then they decided to chip away at it to show some skin while maintaining her 80s business woman chic shoulder pads.

This trailer reminds me of like, the first Twilight Princess trailer. Just footage that we look back on and say "wow that is so obviously crazy early." I am almost shocked they are showing us it. I can't imagine it'll look anything like this by the time it comes out.

This isn't like the first Twilight Princess trailer at all.

TP first trailer had people melting down across the interent in a postive way. The reveal of TP is still one of the E3 highlights that people talk about every year.

LR's will never be remembered the way TP first reveal was.

I had to rewatch this on my iPhone just to make sure that the framerate issues weren't just a video playback issue. Just... wow.

If I didn't know anything about LR and was told that the gameplay footage was of that Unity-powered ARPG SE was hiring for a year ago, rather than an (ostensibly) "AAA" title, I'd probably believe it. Yes, there's still time for improvement before it ships, but how on earth could SE think that what's shown here is acceptable to show to the public?

Oh, lol that's one dumbass thing indeed.

I think they should drop some excessive accessories like that and a few of the curtains, and minimize a bit the showed skin (ditching the swimsuit design, for one) and it could be a pretty nice futuristic armor.
I like what's going on with the shoulders/arms for example (shield not withstanding).

Wow.... this looks mega questionable!

Reading about the game concept, some of the stuff sounded like it would be cool but looking at this....

STILL reusing the same fucking behemoth models, shameless.

Yes, they will probably remember of how good the controls were in that demo instead.

TP's reveal would have had perfect controls given when it was revealed and showed for the first time it was still a Gamecube exclusive game.

So this post doesn't even make sense.

I saw the FF13 treasure box.....

the battle UI looks terrible....

Holy shit, that looked bad. I actually enjoyed XIII-2, so I was kind of intrigued by this. But, wow. Shit graphics and frame rate? Well done.

Also, Lightning Returns is an amazingly stupid name. I thought for sure when it was announced that that would just be a place holder title. And, yeah. Costume is shit. She looked way better in the last two games.

Just give us Versus.

What are you even talking about anymore?

I want to see people complaining about how Majora's Mask reused models from OoT.

If MM had been shit and then they reused in another game a less than 2 years later I'm sure it would have gotten a few complaints. Even then the game looks fucking worse than 13-2.

Naw, you're right. I don't mean in terms of the impact it had, in the least. Just rather looking back at the technology, like old shots of Hyrule Plaza, and seeing how it looks so different in the final product. It just reminds me of really old Zelda game footage, and how different those games look in the end once the polish is applied.

Hopefully this game actually... GETS the polish!

holy fucking shit that looked beyond bad. was that some pre-alpha footage or something. missing textures, choppy as hell framerate, missing/bizarre animation. what.

might have well been animated storyboard crap showing a rough example of what the game should look like.

I mean.. It's not the best way to introduce a game. It looks super rough. I'm sure the final product will be better though. I'm there day 1, but like everyone else, I am ready for a new final fantasy.

Anyway, I think I got how the new ATB works.

Here is a gif:

The top rectangle on the right represents the new "paradigms" or whatever they will be called. Here Lightning is on the Divinity one. I noticed there is also a Cerberus one, with different attacks/magics/abilities, which further proves my point.

So, you can see that while she is attacking the attack rectangle is popping up, well, thats because the player is pressing the respective button on the controller (duh!). Yeah, so, looks like its basically:

Triangle = Basic Magic
Circle = Physical Attack
X = Advanced Magic
Square = Guard

Now how many attacks can she do? The superior bar on the sword thing there reduces while she attacks so thats what will restrict the times you attack. Its likely to cool down after that. Its probably when you will have to doge the attacks or guard. The other bar is obviously her health.

I also noticed some little squares under the monster HP bar, I'm supposing that is going to be something similar to the stagger bar somehow. Maybe when its empty you will deal more damage, or be able to launch the enemy.

The only thing we don't know about is that circular thing with 10000 points...

I hope you're right. I'd like to believe you are since that looked worse than the first two games, which is pretty crazy.

I've got a serious question. You know how sometimes there are promotional events at which the game devs take questions from the public ? Well, has anyone ever asked Toriyama, in front of an audience, if he was aware of how much of a fucking shitty writer he was ? Or if he is aware that a significant portion of the FF fanbase thinks that ?

I really, really want to know.

the 4 skills layout is basically from Type-0, which is one of my biggest complaints about Type-0

Actually I think you can set either 3 or 4 commands and that bar that decreases is your ATB meter and certain types of attacks drain a certain amount.

My thoughts.

So... if the actions do drain that big bar, then it pretty much is just a more localized version of XIII's ATB system?

It all kinda reminds me of the XIII-2 DLC. Just the idea of a Lightning-only battle system, where she uses a limited set of moves spread across a set of specialized roles. And there's a lot of timing involved in the switching and stuff. This seems like they started with that system as a base, and ran with it.

Jesus, it has more hit slowdown then GoW or Castlevania and zero enemy reaction.

This is quite possibly the worst thing tha they could have made when it comes to my tastes.

It has to be. It will be an embarrassment if they mess this up. XIII and XIII-2 were pretty good which is why I'm giving them the benefit of the doubt. But this trailer is no bueno.
