The production committee for Gargantia on the Verdurous Planet, the original science-fiction adventure anime from Production I.G, began streaming its first full promotional video with English subtitles on ANN on Sunday

Simulcast confirmed???????

I wonder if the English blurb is official too:

The story begins in the distant future in the far reaches of the galaxy. The Human Galactic Alliance has been constantly fighting for its survival against a grotesque race of beings. During an intense battle, the young lieutenant Red (played by Kaito Ishikawa) and his humanoid mobile weapon Chamber are swallowed up into a distortion of time and space.

Waking from his artificially induced hybernation, Red realizes that he has arrived on Earth, the long forgotten planet. On this planet that was completely flooded by the seas, people live in fleets of giant ships, salvaging relics from the seas' depths in order to survive.

Red arrives on one of the city fleets called Gargantia. With no knowledge of the planet's history or culture, he is forced to live alongside Amy (Hisako Kanemoto), a 15-year-old girl who serves as a messenger aboard the Gargantia fleet. To Red, who has lived a life where he knows nothing but fighting, these days of peace continue to surprise him.

Well, that was something! I'm watching this on sonicmj's indirect recommendation. I read some bare bones on the premise and for the most part its first episode played out as I expected, but that didn't prevent me from having some fun seeing people beat the crap out of each other for a cheap meal. I'm sure it wouldn't be out of place to desire even crazier fights from here on out as Yō learns what it truly means to fight over supermarket discount food.
Some david production in-training to become ready for JoJo. Seriously loved this show for it's stupidity. Fun action, too.

So nearly 43k own the Tenri anime while fuck all bought the anime seasons lol.... wonder what the price is on the L.E... obviously nowhere near an anime volume... I mean 450 yen for a manga volume and 7500 for an anime volume and they wonder why it's hard to attract manga fans...

Lol, it almost seems like buyers are doing this on purpose. Manglobe titles seem to be cursed for low sales no matter what Manglobe adapts.

Well, I can't think of a high-selling Manglobe title, anyway.

It's certainly the first time I can recall a trailer being streamed with official subtitles this far ahead of the show airing, but the description is the mostly the same one they've used before. So who knows.
I also find it vaguely amusing that they chose to highlight Taro Iwashiro as the composer of the movie Red Cliff as opposed to something more anime-related, like Milos, but that's probably because that's what they used for Kazuya Murata.

Also what has the anime now covered in term of manga chapters for TWGOK? Anyone got a list?

Uh, not including the random non conquest chapters, the main series in two seasons has covered up to chapter 41.

OVA 1 covered chapter 54 and 55.
OVA 2, the Tenri ones, covered chapter 57 to 64.

So I've been without a working laptop for the past few weeks so I pretty much missed out on a lot of Fall season shows ending. Pretty lame but looks like I got some shows to catch up on now that I have it back.

So it's pretty obvious that I'll start off with the most important Fall season show worth catching up on:

To Love Ru: Darkness 1-2 (Uncensored)

F8jHT.jpg

pLC1A.gif
Yabuki.

Truly a master of his craft, etc. As much as I like Haruna and Kotegawa, it's just unfair having Momo in the same series. Best girl.

Anyhow the second most important show from the Fall season:

『Medaka Box 11-12』

Pretty much worth the heaps of hyperbolic praise it received.

While I don't think many people would argue that the first season kinda sucked, the final episode (heck even the second season as a whole) was totally worth it. I'll be the first to admit being a fan of the manga reinforced my enjoyment of the show but I'm really satisfied with the animated rendition of Kumagawa. I was totally not expecting an
actual follow up to the "Good Loser" side story
but I really liked how they handled this little plot-line. Sad that this will most likely never get a third season as the next arc is awesome but oh well.

Overall I had fun with this show. Definitely not the best looking anime or anything of the sort but I really don't care because damn there were so many entertaining moments and appearances from characters that I already like (Naze, Kumagawa, etc.).

I still need to catch up on:

Tonari no Kaibutsu - It was still pretty good last time I left off
Chuunibyou - After reading some impressions of the last few episodes I'm kinda dreading this...
Shinsekai Yori - I hear it's improved since Episode 5 (where I last left off)
Teekyu - This should take like what 10-12 minutes? lol
Kyousougiga - I've been waiting for all the episodes to be released so I can watch them all at once.
Girls und Panzer - I hear this got delayed or something though :(
JoJo's Bizarre Adventure - I've been missing out on Joseph Joestar and I haven't seen the new OP yet!

Durian Burger. Enough said!

Any idea how many episodes of the anime the Space Brothers movie goes through?
It was brought up earlier in the first review, but I would say the last third of the movie is "new stuff" to an anime watcher. There's a climax to the
moon mission
that I assume will appear in the anime soon. After that, it goes into
time jumps
in order to end the film and I have no idea if the manga does that.

Wow I think I need to give Space Brothers a shot.
If you like the anime, you should!

At least it doesn't say REDO anymore. Lololol.

That wiki just seems to smash any chapter where they weren't doing a conquest or stuff like that into one giant category which doesn't help at all.
Yeah, the actually episode pages list the chapters they covered though and any minor changes of note.

I don't like Taiga at all, and it's not just because she has no boobs. I'd hate her even if she had tits the size of her head. I like the other characters though, so I hope Taiga gets better.

JC Staff made her into a Lousie clone for whatever reason in the first few episodes, an act they had to more or less drop since the original material clashes with that portrayal, especially later on.

Of course, not saying she'll get better for you, you just have to watch more and see what happens!

Well I'm guessing at the time they made it the possibility of a 3rd season was fuck all, how were they to know that Shogakukan were going to throw more money down the drain for a 3rd season.

Anyway the OVA came with the L.Es.... so.

7. The World God Only Knows #20 (89,698 /89,698)
28. The World God Only Knows Limited Edition #20 (42,877/42,877)

Chapter 64 is where the OVA ended, with a teensy bit of 65 at the very end.

If the anime somehow gets far enough to cover the Goddess stuff despite selling Fractale-esque numbers, there really is some divine intervention going on.

Speaking of which, since I started it and all:

The World God Only Knows 1-3

An okay adaptation so far, although I do have some quibbles. Seems like Manglobe is kind of slanting this too far away from the comedy of the original manga, which works in some ways but not in others. Also, not a huge fan of the anime character designs. Also Elsie sux, but that was true in the manga too sooooo...

On the other hand, I think they pretty much nailed Keima, and he's easily the best part of the show.

to be fair, it was like 2.5 frt's!

the new season will cover Yui, which is all that i care about. It'd be nice if it got farther, though.

Steins;Gate English Dub 13-25

Wow. That was a very well done series overall. I really enjoyed Mamoru Miyano's Okabe but the English version was just as excellent. I usually hate English dubs because I find the voice acting to be deplorable but Steins;Gate really nailed it out of the park. Each voice actor did their job well in portraying their character. Another shoutout goes to the script. It was very well written and although it's not a literal translation, they made very good changes to make it all fit well. Great stuff!

So I finally watched based Kumagawa's episode.... was it wrong to think that after Kumagawa removed the color blue from the world that K would actually be watchable?

Also dat Kumagawa and Ajimu scene....

Yep.
She started off as an abusive insufferable kugiloli shithead but soon turned adorable.
By the end I wanted to hug her.

Still don't even like anime Elsie huh.
Yo that shit is straight up hype.

Makes me want to see that and the Thermae Romae movie.

One of the most beautifully crafted worlds I have seen in a animated film. The animation was masterful and the film score was amazing. This is one I will remember for a very long time.

Glad you liked it! As other's have mentioned, make sure to check out the manga at some point. It's considerably longer than the film itself.

I'm just fumbling in the dark at the moment when it comes to anime. I just need an interesting cover and synopsis to draw me in. Crunchyroll's streaming and 12 episodes makes it too easy to get trapped, I guess. Also, I take more risks than before because I find that sometimes I close myself off to much. I thought Haruhi would be garbage until I saw the two seasons and it turned out decent(except for that endless night bullshit) so I like to keep an open mind.

You're making all the folks in marketing shed a tear in joy right now.
Mouryou no Hako, Hataraki Man and Wandering Son sound like things I could enjoy. I'd love some other suggestions from anyone. I've only really gotten into anime more than a passing interest in the last few months or so. As long as it has well written characters or an interesting story I'm up for it. And don't think anything is too obvious.

• Kuroko is obviously the big story, for all the right and very wrong reasons. Shame what happened there.
• Idolmaster had a huge jump, probably thanks to the Cinderella Girls as much as anything else, since the anime should already have taken a lot of its effect by 2011's Winter Comiket.
• AoEx really collapsed after the anime ended.
• Always interesting to see how many of these circles are going to have a large or even majority female fanbase. T&B, KuroBas, Hetalia, Basara, TeniPri, Magi, UtaPri, Inazuma, AoEx for sure. Others will be a good mix. I don't have a damned clue who the comiket fanbase for Nintama Rantarou is.

I imagine this is an example of how female fans cluster around a smaller number of shows, because less shows are aimed at them. Heck, most of the ones listed above are shounen manga, but that just goes to show how despite being called shounen, the fanbase is far from all-male, especially in anime form, double-especially in terms of which otaku get into it. I also imagine the long, long tail is where most doujins aimed at males really pile up, with dozens and dozens if not hundreds of series with doujins aimed at males being much more dispersed.

Occult Academy collapsed by the second episode.

I actually forgot that show even existed until just now.

I felt like an excuse to have a variety of different directors have fun directing an episode each on a project, at least based on the number of people who worked on it.

I'm kinda curious to know how these break down into non-H and 18+ titles. I've heard that there are a lot more non-H Touhou doujin than an English-speaking person would be led to believe (considering the reputation Comiket has), but they're not popular and generally unremarkable so they're ignored. I've always wanted to know if this was true for Touhou and for other titles too.

If it were true, it would probably break a common misconception, similar to a common misconception that Comiket circles are generally male-dominated.

This forum has knowledgeable people when it comes to anime sales and such. I like reading through their posts in the industry forum from time to time. I also like referring to it and the Japanese sales wiki when citing sales figures or thinking about sales in general.

Light enough to use as a weapon!

Also, cause it's always fun to see how much material Horizon actually has:

The volumes below Season 1 are the prequel or the series that takes before Horizon and the tiny volumes at top are the stuff that came with the Blu-Rays. This stack is also missing the newest stuff.

Sweet mother of mercy that's a larger stack than I remember. Horizon is clearly a monstrous juggernaut whose popularity I cannot understand, superhumanly because I am not young and hip enough to 'get it'.

I don't know anything about Touhou, but there is a lot of really good fan music for it that comes from Comiket.
