is not drawing the unimportant people in crowds a trend or named technique or something, i've seen if before in at least one show

It's a fairly common approach for shows that can't afford/don't have the time/don't have the staff to actually animate crowd scenes see also Excel Saga and Trapeze. A far more common way to get around this problem is to simply not draw anyone in a city, so it also looks like people are going through areas of a city that are uninhibited see Bakemonogatari, Death Note and many more.

Space Brothers movie

Maybe it's because I used to be such a space fanboy, but I feel like the movie captures a lot of what I want the show to capture. Yeah, there are so many changes and the ending is basically a "we need to end this movie even though the manga will probably take 20 years to get to this conclusion" type of ending, but I feel like the moments where they try to be earnest works fairly well.

I guess to avoid series spoilers, I'll just talk about generalities, but it has such a great opening intro sequence:
RKiFal.jpg

If you are a NASA history dork, it's like someone made an AMV with space footage, but added some production values and graphics to make it look really slick. Funny enough, it reminded me of the early CoD tech porn montages (or maybe the CoD:WaW montages) but used to much better effect.[...]l

Sounds like the kind of thing that would get Chris Remo pretty pumped. In all honesty though, Space Bros is kind of awesome for that and I really do hope that inspires kids to get excited about space again. Lord knows that no-one else is really trying.

Also Hidamari and Azumanga Daioh.
Quite a few shows use that shortcut.

Really need to watch the Space Brothers live action movie. I don't expect it to be as fantastic as the manga/anime but since it's one of my favorite series ever...
I assume there are no subs out yet though since the DVD came out not so long ago.

The World God Only Knows 1-3

An okay adaptation so far, although I do have some quibbles. Seems like Manglobe is kind of slanting this too far away from the comedy of the original manga, which works in some ways but not in others. Also, not a huge fan of the anime character designs. Also Elsie sux, but that was true in the manga too sooooo...

On the other hand, I think they pretty much nailed Keima, and he's easily the best part of the show.

Well Haqua is the superior spirit hunter!

Since 2 or maybe 3 years now before i look at list of incoming anime i'm always thinking it can't be worse than the previous season.

And every time i'm proven wrong

But (the list of new anime) for Fall 2012 was better than (the list for) Summer 2012...

Edit: Ah, wait, it was Fall. dimb's right. Lol, I can't even get my seasons straight. Time to go to bed.

Uh, you don't even have to go back far to prove this wrong. Summer sucked compared to Fall this year.

Seasons aren't really directly comparable anyway. Spring and Fall will -always- have more shows, and more higher profile shows, than Winter and Summer. That's just how the TV anime seasons work. Because most high profile shows run for either 2-cours (~24 episodes) or 4-cours (~50 episodes), when one starts in Spring or Fall, it will end in Spring or Fall, where another such show can replace it. Winter and Summer are generally for shorter shows and low profile stuff meant to fill the gap inbetween.

As duckroll says, the best way to go about this is to compare Winter to Winter. So how about we do that:

As you can see, Winter tends to be mainly crap with a couple of good shows sprinkled into the mix.

Yeah, there's an emphasis on them as kids, so it's trying its best to be inspiration. Heck, they pulled out all the stops to make the movie more than just a throwaway thing anyway. They give special thanks to NASA, so I figure they were involved as well.

Given how much of it appears to be filmed on base at Houston, and the NASA logos plastered over everything, I think there was a lot of official involvement in the film :p

ANNcast Best of the 2000's
Huh. Wolf's Rain was easily the most represented show in the top five section of these lists, even hitting a number one slot. It's been awhile since I watched it, but that seems like a very strange choice.

Looks like that check I sent to ANN finally got through!

I've been playing a bit of a game of Spot the Difference this morning. They solicited an updated version of the iM@S Anime fanbook for release just two months after the initial print, with no obvious difference in it's description other than them adding a "+" to the title.

Pretty much the only significant difference I've actually been able to spot is that they're changed some of the interview answers a bit - they're removed lines of text from a couple, added clarification to a few others, but nothing that looks particularly scandalous or anything. Kind of begs the question as to what the point was.

It's a terrific book, by the way.

Kurenai 1-12
This is a disgusting, offensive show. The horrible main character, the characters constantly being turned brain dead to advance the plot, and the spots of awful animation were bad enough, but to
end it with leaving a child with an abusive household
just made me rage. There were a few good episodes, and some nice Brains Base backgrounds, but the utter stupidity of the characters and that awful ending really got under my skin.

Why do people write doujins about Inazuma Eleven? They're just kids!

Why not? Inazuma Eleven x Ginga e Kickoff, and the Ginga e Kickoff stuffs, and Chousoku Henkei Gyrozetter...shunsuke and kakeru stuffs look good.

Anyway I guess the same reason why theres really lewd art of poor Inaba in gyrozetter on the net.

I wonder if the English blurb is official too:

Hopefully to Crunchyroll/Sentai. Need valvrave and Ginga Kikoutai: Majestic Prince picked up and simulcast too.

i agree ... just bear in mind that the manga is quite different ( in term of story ) to the point that both works could be said to be set in alternative timelines

Now this is a program I can appreciate.
Like my Millhiore Rainmeter calendar.
Any more really cute programs/skins I should know about?
Be careful, though... first you have to check out previous codec packs installed and the settings for the media splitter and disable/remove dependencies to avoid conflicts. Also, you have to make sure of selecting and installing the now optional madshi's madVR renderer because KCP goes by default to EVR, as CCCP still does, practically neglecting any substantial difference between the two packages.

Never knew Chihayafuru was so popular. This explains how season 2 got the okay.
