In the hypothetical sense that this game gets a sequel (DmC2), here's what I want to see in the sequel:

*An altered limbo or world. If you have played the game then you would know that they can't really use that same formula again. They can use some new gimmick for the environments to keep in line with appeal of the original.

*More advance platforming. The platforming was fun at the beginning when you were still getting new tools and some what new scenarios but towards the end it was just getting too repetitive. I want to see more types of platforming moves like maybe a wall run, multiple air dashes or using the Angel teleport for platforming.

*Enemy design revamps. More enemies like Drek and less metallic, robotic enemies please. And the color coated enemies HAVE to be removed for the sequel. I like how some of the non colored enemies were designed like the shield enemies where you can beat them with any weapon as long as you got behind them and started a combo or you can use the whip to disarm their shield or you can break their shield with demon weapons. That's acceptable but being forced to use a weapon to even damage the enemy is not good design IMO.

*60FPS please and no more lag in between stance weapon switches.

*Lock on please and remove one of the Dodge buttons.

*Revamp the Style ranking system. The decay of the style has to be faster and it actually has to drop in letter grades. Repeating moves should instantly drop you grades.

*An actual Devil Trigger... not this Quicksilver non sense. I want Dante to transform into an actual demon. They can bring back this DT mechanic as a Quicksilver option but DT needs to be more fleshed out. I want to see return of DT exclusive moves and abilities. I rarely even used the DT in DmC except to dish out heavy damage on downed bosses.

*Floaty game play, gravity and enemy step modified. Also the demon weapons need to be made more interesting, they were really lackluster and slowed down the pace of the combat. Make the whip faster, make the Rainstorms faster... basically a faster pace to the combat and not just Dante himself but the enemies need to be more aggressive as well with more expansive movesets.

*Demon Dodge shouldn't be an actual ability in the game and if it is it should be toned down A LOT. Too much reward for non-existent risk. While we are at it... modify the dodge itself so that it doesn't have a shit ton of active invincibility and very low recovery.

*I would like a better story with better written characters and premise. Too much of DmC felt like it was aped from other sources... even the whole poisonous drink affecting millions was aped from Futuruma's Slurm Queen! I felt that the Nephilim and angel side of the lore was not at all explored and hope to see more of it in the sequel. With characters like Mundus and Vergil out of the way along with Dante's origin story, I feel NT can play around with the lore more uninhibited than before.

*Training mode needs more options. Different types of enemies can be spawned at once and they can be toggled to attack you. You can modify their health, attack damage, attack speed etc.

The recipe to make a true classic followup for DmC2, one that actually competes with the best that the original DMC games had to offer:

- Keep the combat basics, but offer more weapons. One more angel/devil weapon, two more weapons for switching Rebellion out. Go crazy with them.
- Keep the color coded enemies to a minimum, but forget them in Bloody Palace, preferably (we shall see if this is already true, praise all deities if it is :p).
- Add a playable Kat, magic-based attacks, low stamina, no parries but something else for defense. temporal summons for parries?
- Please, if the game actually appears in nextgen consoles, aim for 60 fps. stable 30fps is good, but 60fps is better.
- Forget huge bosses, introduce new and actually challenging humanoid-type bosses, and/or add human phases to big-type bosses.
-Stop with demon dodge messing with the style system like that. It makes no sense. One well-timed dodge should not determine whether you are a God of Style or not.

On the story side:
- Go crazy on the story, please. You got the basics down now, time to rock.
- Get an engine that allows instant cutscene skipping.

Bam. Instant classic.

Another interesting idea is to expand on the actual story.
Humans "awakened" to the state of reality, elite law enforcement units hunting demons maybe? Dante included - as a suspect, not as part of the unit. Mexican standoff between law, Dante, Demons, and some other shit.

This is basically moving it more in line with the original series, right? Couldn't an argument be made that it should move further away from its predecessors (more story and cinematic elements, co-op play, more focus on spectacle instead of technique in combat, etc.)? A lot of this game seems very....conservative.

This. Absolutely.

DmC is a much better fit for an open world game than the previous ones were. If a sequel is a go, then they need to give it a shot.

I never said more platforming... I meant that if they are going to put in platforming they need to make it interesting and provide more variety and tools to it.

I wish there was a PC demo for this. I understand why they didn't do one, but I'm hoping my PC wil be able to run it at 30-60 fps, however I have no way of knowing without buying it.

If it doesn't run it any higher than 30fps I would just go buy the Xbox version tomorrow.

Hard to see in the video because the Angel effect was masked by the background white. But in that frame there's an Osiris attack going on, could be a weapon switch cancel taking place in there. It looked like he did Streak right after the Dodge and switched the weapon into Round Trip.

Anyway this was just a taste of things to come.

That, to me, seems being more conservative. It's not like there are a lot of games similar to DMC.

The critics response to DmC has been interesting and positive. By that I mean I think it proved a point in some ways. Alot of fans and general gaming communities had been bashing the shit out of this game the entire time up to the release of the game. Now the reviews come out which basically state this is a solid game, and fans immediatly cry out on forums "Sell outs", "this review was paid for", etc

It's just interesting to truly see that peoples expectations of a game wether they think it's going to be really fucking good and then bashed by the media, versus expecting it to be really fucking bad, then rated highly. People just tend to go ape shit.

I don't think the game is perfect by any means but damn it was alot of fun. I still think the changing environments was what really blew me away. Hope to see other games use something similar to this idea in the future or the next DmC expanding on it even more.

It's UE3, you will have the ability to run the game at 60fps 100% guaranteed. Even if it wasn't offered by the team porting it (which it is) you could still use simple hacks to get 60fps as with any other UE3 game on PC.

Besides, I think reviewers are justified in judging this game without regarding its legacy or the expectations of its brand, and talk about how much better it is than other games on the market as opposed to how much worse it is than a hypothetical DMC5. It's silly to demand fans and enthusiasts to adopt that perspective, though.

Yes they have been. Seen a few tweets here and there. "all these DMC scores are paid off. No one really thinks its good" Not saying it's the general stance but just makes me stand back and smh. I think reviewers actually came at the new DmC in a fairly level headed manner. Now let's see if the game actually sells.

What the hell is with that flying move in the combo? Is that the enemy step that was in DMC? Seems really weird and janky. Just like Donte hitting enemies with that axe with the wave thing, but I guess that makes sense with the wave.

I don't really care about critic scores, but Dahbomb is obviously paid off. I mean look at his avatar!

Yep, Dahbomb selled out like Giantbomb did to CBS. I can't trust his opinions anymore. :(

Most people discussions here I've read have thought the game would review really well.

Anyhow, pretty hyped for this game as a casual DMC fan. Glad to see it's reviewing quite well so far.

I don't know what people were expecting with me. I rated it below I would the other DMC games even DMC4. But it's still a good game and even a copy of DMC is a damn fine action game. Yeah some of the decisions still don't sit well with me but I hope NT can use this as a learning experience to create an even better game in the future.

The DMC fanbase being skeptical of the game was well justified. While similar to previous NT games in terms of art style the game plays VERY different from what people are used to from NT.

Sounds about right. There's a ton of cutscenes in the game compared to game play length. Even so the game is paced right and doesn't over stay its welcome and ends just when it starts to lose steam.

Good for replaying the game.

Don't start posting Oprah gifs in here or you'll give Ninja Theory ideas for the sequel. We've already had a boss battle in the form of a demonic news anchor after all.

My review went up as well (hungarian) - 8/10

It honestly felt like a 9/10 at times for me, but I had a hard long thinking session about the game's shortcomings, and determined these as the main issues:

1. Unimpressive Boss fights
2. The uninspring, totally average story, with very few cool moments
3. Too much loading here and there, even once the level is loaded :(
