DmC |OT| No, F*ck You!

Cutscene interruptions are the real stinker here.

Truth be told I sort of enjoyed the Succubus kill sequence. I mean it was basically a QTE sequence but they made it more fun than most QTE sequences and it was still in line with the mechanics of the game.

Everyone is chasing God of War and trying to make these epic, grand boss fights. Give me one on one sword combat with no bullshit any day of the week.

And then they stick them in their combat system without really thinking about why they work in God of War.

And I would love more one on one, people-sized duels. <3 Kratos/Zeus, Bayonetta/Jeanne, etc.

The cheese at the end was pretty godlike imo. xD

Going through on Hell and Hell mode to get the last achievement, and my battery packs for my joypads or being awful. Leaving them on charge about an hour then they last about 30 seconds. They've been bad for a while but this is ridiculous.

yay platinumed

Time to go play infamous 2 on my free EU PS+ =D, will return when bloody palace hits

After spending over 40 hrs in the game, overall I feel the stupid bosses are pretty crap, easily the worst boss fights in the series and any action games I've played (better than batman arkham asylum), the normal enemies are fine outside of a few enemies I dislike, I feel that they're a bit similar to bayonetta's enemies but crappier, but the combat system is really fun.

Will definitely buy a DmC2, there's just a shortage of action adventure games and I rather play this than some of the other series I've tried this generation.

I felt there were way too fucking many of the enemies were of the "folding blade for a right arm" variety. Lesser Stygians, Stygians, Elite Stygians, Death Knights, Hell Knights, Frost Knights, and to a lesser degree Ravagers. I know that's perhaps a callback to the bajillion of varieties of marionettes in the original, but it really felt like the game was minor variations of maybe six kinds of enemies.

More like Shitians amirite?

I miss the prescense and bulk of enemies in DMC4. Everything in this game is either skinny jeans or MASSIVE.

It has the issue of imposing zero threat while you are in the air. It's easy enough to stay propelled, but a VERY small amount of enemies even have an attack to get you out of there. A lot of enemy combos don't even matter when you can launch someone, jump off their head, pull them up and use Aquila to pull more up to you.

While we're on the topic of Vergin spazzing out...

He died for our sins.

Anyway, has this article been posted yet? There's a few interesting tidbits in it, like:

The Capcom project leads also recalled Ninja Theory's initial penchant for concentrating on cool visuals first, then building the world image from there, regardless of whether the gameplay matched well with it or not. "I remember, during the first stages of development, one of the illustrations we got for a regular enemy had this huge blade on his right elbow," Itsuno said. "It was actually on pretty much all the enemies! Apparently the designer really liked putting blades on people's elbows."

"So we asked how the guy was gonna attack with this blade," Eshiro continued, "and the reply was 'Oh, he doesn't use it much'. So we said 'No, no, that's not going to work as a game' and had them rethink it a little bit."

Yet another difference of opinion in game design lay in the creation of DmC's bosses. In Itsuno's eyes, the first boss designs were flat and uninteresting, basically just minion-level enemies blown up to huge size. "In samurai dramas," he said, "you have the idea of the bad guy getting slain in this incredibly flashy manner by the good guy. It's part of the role of a boss to make the player feel really good as they defeat it. Meanwhile, overseas the philosophy seems to be more like 'No boss is gonna move around so flashily and ask to get killed like that'. To get them to understand this, we explained everything out on whiteboards. It'd be like 'If the boss moves like this, then this is how the player feels, so let's have the boss go like this.' We'd trade drawings along those lines."

Itsuno tried to salvage what he could and it still wasn't enough.

... wow NT really sound fucking dumb :/

I bet everything people enjoyed about DmC is actually due to Capcom. The stuff NT actually had full control over like story, writing and music is really quite bad. If Capcom didn't help at all DmC would be far worse off than it is. I knew Capcom still have it in them, if they can salvage this tripe they can surely create a superior action than ever before.

I look forward to hearing what NT have to say after they have finished their commitment to the project with Vergil's Downfall.

so those shitty bosses would've been more shitty

with blades on their elbows

Edit: some of the bosses are still minion level blown up in size, there are better enemies you fight than the actual bosses.

Has there been any word on the Vergil DLC for the PC version?

I'm waiting for this until I pick up the game.

Btw, that "Never Surrender" cover I was talking about? Apparently it was a fan cover that I originally saw posted on YouTube as a joke on DmC (video has been removed now). I was totally convinced because the part in the beginning sounds like the Dante in DmC. Haha, I wish this song was in the game. It's... something.

EDIT: Those Itsuno comments are pretty amazing. Sad there is an increasingly more popular sentiment in the west which want no boss fights in games.

NT didn't do the music it was Combichrist and Noisia.

Edit: LMAO @ that interview of Itsuno. I can't believe NT just made the regular enemies and didn't think about how they would work.

The only boss I felt was like an enemy was the last boss. Even then the bosses have way more gimmicks than regular enemies so I don't really see them as regular enemies. Except the Hunter though, I think some of the regular enemies are harder to take down than him.

That whole passage about Itsuno explaining the weight of attacks and how NT didn't get that initially was present some what in very early demonstration of the game.

Not even the OT is safe from this crap. Its the same fan squad coming back to shit on the game, turn NT into a cartoon villain and take turns at soothing their butthurt by spreading negativity on anything DmC related.

I can only feel sorry for the people working at NT for comming up against such a childish fanbase.

Well thankfully they probably won't have to go for a repeat at this rate

The guns were absolutely dog shit before in terms of sound. Hit stop aninations were also pretty bad before they toned them down

Ninja Theory made two (god awful) games and wasted other companies money on bad new IP - which is fine, whatever. Ultimately that hurts no one but those companies (and people with good taste who happen upon these bad games). The point where they started destroying established franchises is when they became mustache twirling villains.

That's pretty interesting, I haven't really bothered with kablooey much. How the hell is he spinning around with stringer and streak?

It auto tracks, so it will complete it's length duration until it targets the enemy as long as it's within the frames of attack. DMC3 and DMC4 kind of did this, but it's more pronounced in DmC.

If you do a Stinger or Streak below a juggled enemy it auto corrects to hit the enemy. It has semi tracking capability.

DMC3/4 would go through the airborne enemy for the designated travel frames then instantly 180 as the attack came out. DmC does a tight little loop. It's super weird.

Does anyone know how you unlock the 'Rare' pieces of concept art? I've unlocked 2/4, one was for getting SSS rank for 60 missions, and the other was for 50 hours of play. Don't know how to get the other 2 though.

I know one is doing 666 devil triggers.

That's probably been done since the main game was finished. Capcom likely learned from the SFxT DLC mess and is sitting on stuff now for the sake of perception.
